  • Great trainer - once it's all together
Overall, this is a great trainer but the post purchase support could be a lot better. I’ve been using it for about 4 months. It has a solid design and provides a wonderful “sense of the road”. When connected to a training application (Rouvy, Tacx, Zwift) you’ll feel the hills, bumpy roads (not in your butt but through the pedals) and even a nice simulation on downhill segments. It’s extremely stable – I’m set up on a carpet and I’m very comfortable even when standing on the pedals pushing up a steep climb. What annoyed me is the lack of support getting the thing up and running. I’m not a bike mechanic and most of my tools are not metric. The machine doesn’t come with a cassette (you’ve probably already figured that out). This means you’ll have to figure out which one to purchase, order the specialized tools and then install the darn thing. I watched a bunch of videos and finally got it on correctly after 3 tries and a considerable amount of profanity. Then there’s the axle setup. I have a solid “thru axle” on my Trek Domane – my trainer shipped with a quick release set up. To its credit, the Garmin Tacx Neo 2T comes with a bunch of adapters supporting a thru axle conversion. Unfortunately there’s absolutely no comprehensible explanation as to how it all goes together or what it should look like when you’re done. I was constantly swapping out parts to find the correct combination to fit my bike and allow enough clearance to avoid damage to the disc brakes. You’ll also need a 17mm wrench to tighten the connections. The profanity was bad with the cassette install – with the axle conversion I was “off the chain”. But bottom line – it’s a great trainer and I’m loving my indoor winter riding. However, you might want to friend a bike mechanic on Facebook. ... show more

  • Great Trainer
Just upgraded my trainer from an old Cyclops Hammer to this Tacx Neo. It is a much quieter trainer with some great features like the road vibrations when going over dirt, cobblestones, or a wooden bridge within Zwift, the power light indicator that goes from blue to purple to red as power goes up, and the ability to utilize it without a power supply. There is a bit of wiggle room for the rear cog set, so make sure if you are below 11-12 gears that you use the spacers that come with the bike. I am personally using a 10 speed with one of the wider spacers in, and it works great for me. I’ll do an update after I get a few more rides in, however after day 1 and 20 miles under its belt I am very happy with the purchase. ... show more

  • Amazing
This thing is awesome. Good way to train when there's snow outside, much quieter than my "silencer" direct drive trainer. Works flawlessly with garmin connect. Love it!

  • Great trainer once set up properly!
What an awesome trainer once you get it set up correctly. I purchased a new shimano cassette w the trainer and the instructions from TACX were not clear that you need two spacers before screwing on the tightening cap. If the smaller gears are not tight (and jiggle slightly) you need another spacer. There are YouTube videos that also show what to do. When I first attached my road bike, it was very noisy (hence I discovered that I needed more spacer installed). I was able to correct this and then had to adjust my rear derailleur so that it would shift smoothly. My road bike never would shift properly so I switched to my tri-bike, made a few adjustments, lubricated the chain and what an amazing ride. My toad bike needs a new cable before I put back on the trainer. I use this trainer w Zwift and have ridden nearly every day since. It connects instantly and the built in cadence means I can use a Bluetooth heart rate monitor w my AppleTV to get all the functionality. In the 3 weeks, I have noticed a huge increase in performance, strength and some body change. ... show more

  • A-mazing
This is just an amazing trainer. I haven't used trainers (other than the stationary bikes in the gym) and this year decided to ride hard over winter to prep for next year. I got myself a Zwift account and picked up this trainer. It took me a few minutes to figure out how to attach my bike, but literally everything else was super simple. I mean, I have never changed a cassette before - total newb - and this set up was easy. Of course you'll have to buy a cassette, but I simply bought one that matched my bike. Once the bike was attached - literally the hardest part and probably because I have never done anything like this - I powered on the trainer, it connected to my laptop and away I went. Super easy. The feel of the virtual flywheel is perfect. Great ride. Quiet. Felt stable. And the tactile sensation of cobbles and boardwalk and dirt just blew me away. It's going to be a very cool winter. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Excellent Smart Trainer
I've been using this smart trainer for about 3 months and I'm loving it! It's quiet, functions as advertised and seems to have a good built quality. Regarding the latter - I know some other cyclists have had issues with their units, so while there might be some build quality issues overall, I've had no issues with my particular unit thus far (also, just FYI: I put my bike on and off the trainer quite a lot as I ride on the same bike both indoors and outdoors). That being said, I've only completed a bit over 30 rides on the trainer thus far with the total distance of 750K, so I guess it's a bit too early to make any conclusions on the build quality / durability of the trainer just yet. I might update this review later with some more details on that. ... show more

  • Great Indoor trainer
This is a great indoor trainer that is VERY quiet. The LED lights on the bottom are very cool and the "road feel" is very cool as well. I do have two recommendations for this item. The first is to watch an assembly video on youtube. The directions that come with the item are not very clear. The second recommendation is to get the thru axel adapter if you have disc breaks. The box gives you a couple of adapters to make your cassette fix on the trainer but not for the thru axle for disc breaks. You will need to pony up another $50 for the correct adapter and this is the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07H994Y3X?pf_rd_r=5H4ZHB56064MK2QHSSW5&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee Other than that, it is great and I would not hesitate to get this item again. ... show more
