I got this for my dog's first camping trip and first time out in the woods because I didn't know if he would run or wonder too far away. I ordered the GPS tracking only version, no stimulation. It worked great and gave me peace of mind to let my dog be off leash to explore in the woods. I very specifically needed something that would work in remote areas with no cell phone coverage, and this fit the bill. The collar is a little bit bulky on my 23 lb dog, but he didn't seem to mind it too much. The batteries on both the collar and handheld lasted all day with continuous use. I live in the country, and I use this collar to track my dog so he doesn't roam onto other people's property. The GPS works fantastic to track my dog and the geofence is perfect to let me know when my dog has left my property and gone into the road or too far from home. I haven't had to test the full 10 mile range but it works great as far as I have tested it (around 1-2 miles). I charge the collar and the receiver/transmitter every night and they both last all the next day. A great additional feature is the Breadcrumbs tracking. This lets me know where my dog has been even if I am not around the receiver all the time and I can see where he spends most of his time. The system is expensive, but it is worth every penny and gives me great peace of mind to know where my dog is even when he has been outside for an hour in the woods. Great buy! ... show more

    • Not Accurate. Lots of errors.
I spent over $600 on this, so I expected it to work. With my dog sitting next to me and a clear view to the sky the remote shows my dog running all over the place up to 73 yards in all directions. I set up the Geofence - also with a clear view to the sky but the corner markers are not accurate. Lots of "out of geofence" errors when the dog and I are both in the middle of the large geofence. The collar requires to be paired with the remote after each recharge. The batteries last less than a day. Often the GPS shows no signal contact between the collar and remote. I contacted SportDog customer service - very helpful and sent out a new GPS component. But the errors remain with the replacement. The tone, vibrate, correction function performs flawlessly. The GPS function does not. I am a ham radio and military radio operator. I understand the functions. With great disappointment I must conclude that this device is not dependable. I'm sending this item back and will try an electronic collar with expectations of better results. Update: November 21, 2018. Sport Dog has replaced the TEK 2.0 system 5 times at their expense. It works for a few weeks then the collar refuses to pair with the handheld remote. The system is great when it works, but it should work all the time. Five times customer service has escalated the issue to their customer service advocates (Matt or Christine) and have been told that they will call me back, but they don't. When I call back I am told that Matt or Christine are not available. So I have spent $600 for something that doesn't work and can't get satisfactory customer service. Everyone I have actually talked to at SportDog customer service and do their best to help me. And they tell me that the system should work. I am in a suburban area with excellent GPS coverage - so that is not the issue. SportDog now tells me that a replacement TEK2.0 will not be available until mid January 2019. But that they will provide a remote trainer without the GPS feature until the TEK2.0 becomes available again. I'm not a happy camper. ... show more

System works well the only problem I have is that screen isn't bright enough on a bright day. Also the icon of the moving dog is just an X.

    • Issue with the set up/solved with a call
I had a problem with the set up as instructions were not really all that clear as what button does what. After calling Sportdog, it was all sorted out. They answered fast, were responsive and offered to send out a part I ended up not needing. Walked me though the issues I was having. I primarily use this for tracking my dogs on a farm and the land next to me to know if I need to go get them or not. Once set up, this has worked excellent! Now I can keep working knowing that they are just out hunting instead of heading out on a winery tour. While the cost is high, the peace of mind is well worth it. So far the pups have only ranged 1 mile away which is fine herein the unit worked well. For me, setting up the voice commands to notify you what they were doing was a mistake! It was annoying to be notified what seemed like all the time what they were up to and it killed the handheld battery in half a day. The collar looks like it will go 2-3 days without a charge but after turning off notifications, the handheld will easily last the 13 hours I need it to.
