Our challenge is to use materials that are strong and damage resistant, but not so heavy or stiff to be dangerous for a bird to wear safely. We have even tried every knock of our design and have not found anything better. Suitable materials must be able to be made into a safe harness. Heavy material makes it dangerous to wear and during flight. Some owners use the Aviator every day and when bored some birds do tend to chew on the harness. Eventually a harness can become damaged and may need to be replaced. All their toys and entertainment items are made from materials that are similar to everything else in our homes. The fear of reprimanding and being accused of ‘Negative Reinforcement’ causes even the best parrot parents to fall short of managing this behavior.
