I was excited to finally cover up the spot behind the thermostat where the paint didn't match because the old thermostat was rectangular. I like the brand Spigen because they have some really great phone accessories. I went to the process of disconnecting the hardwired thermostat, organizing the wires, disconnecting and reconnecting everything - do you notice anything about the picture? It's mounted about a third of the way up from the bottom instead of in the center. I actually had to drill one hole through the plastic and the thermostat sits at a funny angle now. There was no possible way that these holes were going to line up correctly. Either I have mistakenly purchased the wrong generation of this thermostat by mistake, or my expectations were just way too high. I fiddled with this for at least an hour. I'm not the most handy person on Earth but I know my way around basic home maintenance. This thermostat and this wall mount clearly do not match, they were not made for each other. Make sure to check the model of your thermostat. I'm not even sure that I have the wrong model, I genuinely have no clue why this happened but it is incredibly frustrating.

This is a white trim plate with a snow nest. Matches well. It is a must if you previously had an electric box that you screwed into. Many on Amazon don't have this and the Google one is inverted coming out from the wall. (What kind of braniac thought that would be a good design?) Edge is slightly off the wall a bit which would be my only complaint. Not enough to knock a star off. Price was also a little rich at $19. Dimensions are just under 6 x 6 inches. Bottom line is if you have a previous electric box and don't want to fix drywall then this is your trim plate.

I would give this 6 stars out of 5 if i could. This included every piece of hardware i needed to cover a large gaping hole left by the old thermostat. I highly recommend this item!!

The Nest thermostat (2020 model) is pretty small. My house is over 40 years old and has had 2 or 3 thermostats over the years. None round and all bigger than the Nest. The wall was pretty ugly without this matching wall plate. I looked at the "stock" Next wall plate (which isn't included and has to be purchased separately) and its shape didn't seem optimal to me since its edges are not flush with the wall. The Spiden wall plate fits flush to the wall and "snuggles" under the thermostat properly. See the pictures. Also included with the wall plate is a metal plate which would aid mounting the unit to an electrical box in the wall. I couldn't evaluate that feature since my thermostat mounts directly to the wall.

I considered about 6 wall plates available for Nest thermostat and am happy I went with this one. It is more contemporary looking than the rectangular ones, which I think give the appearance of being a patch to cover where a prior thermostat had been. I particularly disliked Google's wall plate which flares out from the wall on the sides like a dinner plate. The other factor was the coverage. I replaced a rather large thermostat and some of the rectangular plates curve at the sides so, while their dimensions seem larger than this one, they would not have covered the corners where my old thermostat had been. Seems to me that a square plate surrounding a round thermostat is more aesthetic than a rectangular plate.

Exactly as described. My new Nest Thermostat (2020 model) fits perfectly. I didn’t need the metal plate since my thermostat is not mounted in an electrical box. The mounting plate fits snuggly against the wall and covers up the holes and unpainted sheet rock from the old thermostat that came with the house. The review titled “I must be missing something” with 1 star is correct… they are missing something. The photo they post shows a Nest Thermostat E. This does not work with that model (or the Nest Learning Thermostat).

I ordered a new nest thermostat from our local power provider but then found it didn't come with a base plate to mount it to my existing electrical box my current thermostat was mounted on. I guess on newer construction you just have wires coming out of the wall and you screw the thermostat right into the drywall not in my case. the base plate that Google sells looks like some sort of saucer or I don't know what this thing looks awesome. Highly recommend to anyone that has the newer nest thermostat (not the learning model or the e model) as a good alternative to what Google offers.

Who knew this wouldn’t work with an air conditioning system and a circulating hot water boiler. It only works with a forced hot air heat and air conditioning combination system which is something they should note not a happy camper
