Words can’t easily express how disappointed I am in the quality of this item. Perhaps if the price wasn’t the cost of a used phone it wouldn’t be so bad. First off, when installing I noticed the fit of the logic board didn’t seem quite right. This is because the aftermarket mid frame is slightly thicker than OEM and doesn’t allow for a completely flush fit. Second, when I was able to get everything fitting together well enough to test the screen I was appalled to find a fair sized black spot on the lower left of the screen. This is something you commonly find on panels that have been salvaged from OEM assembly’s and installed onto a new mid frame and sold as “new”. The biggest problem with the spot is that I can buy the same part knowingly with a defect and pay less than $100 for it. There is no excuse for this. Third, after the phone powered up I noticed it had booted into safe mode. This is typically done by holding a volume key while booting the phone. I, however, had not done that and after restarting several times and even swapping the logic board back into my original housing I came to the conclusion that the volume down key is stuck in the pressed position. This renders the phone unusable since it will always boot to safe mode. Fourth, there is a considerable gap between the glass and the mid frame, something you can easily catch with your nail, this isn’t a huge deal but shows poor build quality. Fifth, there were signs of previous use on the inside of the mid frame which I believe could possibly be related to some of the previous issues and may suggest that the screen had already been returned at least once before. Display combo has a 1/8" diameter sharp bump between two of the layers which look like something is trapped between the preassembled layers and about to poke upwards from inside and out the OLED portion of the display and up to the gorilla glass. It is viewable at all angles except dead on, and can be seen from much further away than an arms length with screen off or on. I left the protective cover on the display during installation so it wouldn't get scratched, and I didn't notice the defect until I removed the cover. There are also stress marks seen screen off at low angle from top corners. I'm quite disappointed at the quality given the price; for $226, I can get a refurbished and unlocked S8+. I really dont want to take it apart again as its always risky on the back glass and battery plus added cost of more adhesive. Strongly recommend just removing the screen prior to disassembly, and possibly powering on phone as soon as screen is plugged in prior to closing it back up. 1 week update: the colors are garbage compared to the original. Washed out and too green looking, even after adjusting display. In addition to the zit, there are stress marks coming from the top two corners that are seen at low angle with screen off.
