  • The old gray mare, she ain't what she used to be. But she does the job, with some fitment issues.
I've used two of these now, one a while back in a 1995.5 V6 4x4 Tacoma, and one just now in a 2000 V6 Prerunner. Spectra Premium has been my go-to for parts when they've been an option for some time, mostly because they were one of the last hold-outs for North American manufacturing. I've bought fuel tanks, pumps, and radiators from them in the past that were labeled "Made in Canada". Not anymore it seems - this one came with a "Made in China" sticker on the end bracket. Which, if you buy one of these, prepare to swap the end brackets - it is a simple job assuming your old ones are in good shape. I tried to use the ones that came with and they were about 1/4" off. Swapped the brackets and the holes line up perfectly. I almost bought the Denso for the same price but opted for this one due to their Canadian manufacturing - their web site seems to still be proud of it as well - but I won't fall for that going forward. As an aside, they filed for bankruptcy in March citing tariffs on Chinese imports. All in all, despite the brackets being junk and the manufacturing moved to China, the core seems to be well made, so I'm going to run with it. But they've lost my loyalty. ... show more

  • Deminsions not correct. This unit is five inches longer than OEM.
Deminsions not correct. The radiator is too long by almost five inches. It sticks down way too far. One bad speed bump and it will be toast. With it sitting in place, the bottom five inches is exposed to any road hazard. It's only nine inches from the ground. Little upset I have to return and find another. Looks like a solid product though. This CU1755 is not recommended for a 1998 Tacoma. ... show more

  • Fit my truck, with some "encouragement"
I have a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner. V6, A/T, CA emissions. (not that it matters). There is a lot of confusion out there on what this will fit because the application charts and lists aren't always right. I didn't have to drill any new holes or anything, and this was the bigger of the two sizes that supposedly fit my truck. I do have to knock this radiator though for not being straight. It was a bit cockeyed, and though I could still use the same bolt holes, it took some maneuvering and levering with a pry bar to get it bolted back in place. Something that could go very wrong with a radiator. I'm about 2 months out and it seems fine though, so it's worth saving yourself some $ on the estimated $500-700 job a shop will charge you. ... show more

  • Fit 2003 Tacoma Doublecab V6 4WD
I purchased Spectra Premium CU1755 as an Amazon Warehouse deal for $71 for my 2003 Tacoma doublecab V6 TRD 4WD w/auto transmission. It came in perfect condition, even the box. It fit *nearly* perfectly. I installed the top 2 bolts first (much easier if you review the grill, look for youtube videos for the two clips at the bottom edges that are hidden and strong, you just pull), the passenger side lower bolt 3rd, and the driver's side lower bolt last, all started but loose. It was a fight to get the last one to align, I had to push up and pull the radiator towards the outside of the vehicle and it still took several tries but I eventually got it. It would have been easier w/ 2 people, but I did the job alone. If you haven't changed the fan clutch in a while, I'd recommend changing it while you have the rad out. Make/model Aisin FCT-013 I've been driving it a few days, and it works great. The old one was leaking at the top tank. This one is oem quality and should last me another 180K miles. ... show more

  • Spectra radiators are reliable and well built!
We are a Toyota family, and Spectre is our preferred OEM replacement when it comes to radiators. These radiators are built to last! We are a family with five Tacomas' and our experience with another manufacture D-lco, we found Spectre to be the most reliable. Spectra engineering designed its line of radiators making improvements beyond Toyota's original specifications. They are easy to install, and in about thirty minutes, we had the new Spectra radiator installed, filled with fluid, and back on the road. I have no affiliation but a big fan of Spectre's line of radiators. ... show more

  • Nice radiator
Very well packaged, the fins were in terrific shape when I went to install. Dropped in nicely, no problems mounting it at all. I will note this is the largest of the 1st gen Tacoma radiators ( I think there are 3, maybe even 4 different radiator sizes), went on my 2003 double cab 4x4 auto TRD, it does hang down quite a bit. I will have to see if it interferes with my off road skids when I get them painted and go to put them on. If it does I’ll sell it locally and it’ll make another Tacoma owner very happy. ... show more

  • It's a radiator
When installing, the holes in the brackets did not line up. I was not able to unattach the old brackets from the old radiator(easy fix) so I removed the new radiators bracket on one side. This allowed me to cut the top plastic locking tab for the bracket off using a hacksaw. I then placed some metal washers between the top and bottom of the radiator before reattaching the bracket. This gave me the extra length needed to line up the holes properly. I did have to bend back one of the two metal holding tabs on one side of the new brackets as well. This let me still lock one side into place while bringing the radiator flush and lined up to complete the installation. ... show more
