This review is for Speck Products Presidio Grip Case for iPhone XS/iPhone X, Surf Teal/Mykonos Blue I had a previous case like this one (just different color) that was starting to show its two years of age. I have dropped my phone several times, and I attributed the wear on the prior case to some of that stress, and putting it in my pockets many hundreds of times. The material had become a little less snug to the phone, and it just didn't look new any more. I feel like it was still protecting my phone well, but I wanted a fresh look. Very happy with the service I got out of the 'old' case. The phone is still great - not replacing it any time soon - so I went with the same case, different color. THINGS I LIKE It's very compact, adds minimal dimension to the phone, feels like there's a lot of friction when you're holding it. It's not going to slide out of your hand or off the dashboard. Very snug to your buttons, so they respond to your push quickly and accurately. Raised front protects the screen from drops onto floors and flat surfaces. Have dropped it probably 15 times with the prior case onto desks, tile floors, asphalt and cement, and the phone has been perfectly fine. I've had some cases that tend to muffle sound, on the rare occasions I'm not using ear buds. Sound comes through well with this one. Small enough that one-handed use is still comfortable. THINGS THAT COULD BE BETTER After a couple of years and those drops, the case developed a little bit of cracking and had loosened a little... not enough that I felt I had to replace it, but decided to anyway, since I'll have this phone probably one more year. This new case that arrived is slightly more toward the "Surf Teal" side than the "Mykonos Blue" side of the color scheme. It's a little lighter and greener than the pic I see on my Macbook screen. Not much, but enough that if you really care about the color and wanted it more toward the blue end of the spectrum, you might inquire about it. I didn't care enough about the slight difference to ask. Just mentioning in case someone is really picky about colors. A couple of the "ribs" on the case started to come a bit loose around the one year mark. It seems to have bothered a few other reviewers; it didn't bother me. The case integrity was still intact and the missing ribs weren't really noticed. BOTTOM LINE I'll always look for Speck for any future mobile devices I acquire. It's a solid and compact covering that provides excellent functionality and protection without adding much bulk at all. Can still use my iPhone X one-handed comfortably with this phone. Protective case that isn't too bulky, and rubber strips help prevent slipping off of surfaces. Easy to put on the phone and gives enough lip to protect screen from most drops. While not a highly-fashionable look, it does look nice and it holds up well to every day life. Had another one of these and dropped it so many times the corner finally cracked. I love Spec and love the “grips” on this case (all I’ll buy). This is the 3rd one I’ve bought (but one with every new phone). I’m awful about dropping my phone so the grips make a huge difference. This style case has saved my phone countless times as its has been dropped on my concrete patio and ceramic tile kitchen floor. My current iphone is 2 1/2 years old and the case corner chipped when it was knocked off the kitchen counter the last time 😳) but my phone was completely unharmed. Case took the drop shock and even though the corner shipped, the inner rubbery lining and the tiny rubbery “lip” completely protected the phone. This case is the only one I will buy for my 82 year old mother who has difficulty holding things due to severe arthritis in her hands. Price is great too! ... show more

I used a Speck case for my iPhone 6 for four years and it was awesome, even through droppings. When I got my iPhone X, I knew I wanted a Speck because they are durable while keeping the phone slim, but I couldn't find any fun colors like they used to offer. I ordered this thinking the grips and actual case would be two different shades of blue like described in the title, but it's pretty much one shade of light teal all over. It fits the phone perfectly, adds a small raised edge around the screen and back camera so they don't directly contact any flat surface it's set on, and protects the side buttons while keeping them easy to press. I gave four stars because I haven't dropped it yet, so I can't verify it gives the same protection as my old case. I also wish 'teal and mykonos blue' were a larger difference in color to give the case more contrast, but so far it seems like the same quality for a great price! ... show more

Bought this for my elderly dad. He had a black case but was always complaining that he was losing his phone. The white might get dirty more easily but it sure stands out. I also like the black grippy sides. It gives the phone more character and I hope it absorbs the main contact points so the case stays white.     • Great thin case, but expensive
I've used the Presidio Grip case for three different phones, and they are about as thin as you can get while being very protective. Don't get the regular Presidio case; it is way too slippery, and if there wasn't a Grip version, I would find a different case. I tried the Apple Silicon case for a few days, and although it's thinner than this one, the lack of coverage at the bottom and the relatively low "lip" made me go with this one. You can put a .3mm glass screen protector on the X and the lip of this case is still high enough to provide a lot of protection. Also, even with the lip/bottom coverage, I don't find it harder to "swipe up." The nice thing about the Presidio grip for the iPhone X versus the one for the iPhone 8 Plus is that the slots at the bottom for the speaker/microphone are thin and don't create an edge that can dig into your fingers. (The ones on the Presidio Grip case for the 8 Plus are deliberately wide to accommodate a headphone jack, because that same case is sold as being compatible with the iPhone 6s Plus.) The dark blue color with the black stripes are nicely subdued, although I wish they made a monochromatic version in a slightly brighter blue. The only two significant issues with this case are cost (these will be 40% off in 4 months) and durability. Although the case is really protective, the outer plastic is brittle. I've had two crack after significant drops. iPhone was fine, but the case had to be replaced. Fortunately, by that time the cases were being massively discounted on Amazon, so not a big deal.
