  • Cheap and confusing
So I purchased this kit to go along with our study of the solar system for my kindergartener. The more I do it the more I am disappointed. The first one we did was the Mobil. That one is my favorite and probably the main reason I purchased the box. However it did not come with any instructions. We had to heavily research all the planet characteristics. I dumping know why they don’t have Uranus on its side. We ended up poking a new hole to make it that way. The game was fun and interesting. The kaleidoscope was a joke. Again no instructions and cheap materials. I had to research how to make one on several sites and add more materials to make it sturdier. I’m not even going to buy cookies for the moon phases. I had to create a different craft. We do look forward to the lacing of constellations. At this point I regret purchasing this box. I did it to make my life easier but it created more stress and frustration trying to find out what to do for each one. That being said my son did not know all the issues and has enjoyed everything we have done. So he enjoyed it at least. I would not buy it again. ... show more

  • Loved It
My 5 year old has been interested in ALL things Solar System related and so when we received the box and opened it up, my child was very excited to work on all of the projects. There are 6 projects in the box. Right away, we did the Rocket Project and the Solar System Mobile Project. The projects are paper/ cardboard projects but is fine for young children. I would recommend this for any child ages 4 to 10. ... show more

  • Some inaccuracies, slight design flaw
So, we've only gone through 4 of the activities, but I'm not too impressed. For starters, there's a few inaccuracies with the game facts (how many moons certain planets have or how long it takes for them to orbit the sun for example.) Then, for the mobile it includes Pluto in the lineup even writing a cute little quip about how chilly it is, but in the game they actually point out that it is in fact only a dwarf planet, so I'm not sure what happened there. The kaleidoscope is a joke. I don't know what I expected, but, a piece of tissue paper and cellophane taped to some mirrors just wasn't it. The confetti provided doesn't stay on the end, a design flaw they could have fixed by including another sheet of cellophane and having you trap the confetti in between the tissue and plastic...but, nope...just loose a** stars in a tube and when you look in it, you hardly catch a glimpse of anything. My kids had fun for about 45 minutes, mostly from the board game, which is pretty basic, and again, slightly inaccurate. Neither of them got any enjoyment from stringing the constellations. I'm sure they'll like the oreo moon crap, because what kid wouldn't want to eat cookies, and they'll probably get a kick put of the rocket too but TBH both are things I coulda pulled up from Google/pinterest/youtube etc. I do not recommend. ... show more

  • fun kit
my kids love science kits and space so we figured why not. this is a good little kit. i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 since some of the activities it includes are a bit on the small side. the rocket ship isn't really easy to use, the rocket gets wet and you can't really do that project again.

  • Great for the active builder in your life
We bought this for our 8 year old. He loves that there are multiple experiments and things to do in the box. We love that the experiments are separated and in their own bag. As a parent of a disorganized child I would suggest you open it up 1st and place the instructions in with the individual experiments. Most of the instruction cards will fit in the bag themselves and it keeps the kids right in track for an easy experiment. You will need OREO cookies for one of the experiments that is not included. ... show more
