Easily the finest book I have ever read on the subject, and I have over a dozen such books on my shelf. • Bad index, generally good information and good book
Format: Paperback
Index isn't great, but it's a decent book. I do recommend you find a book for your specific location along with this book - there was a lot of infomration in the book that did not fit with the local knowledge/names I've heard. But it is comprehensive and pretty good.

  • Nice ideas in this book
Format: Paperback
This is a fairly versatile book. I really enjoy how it goes through sections regarding waterfalls ,courtyards, desert scene. Hundreds of great photos with great ideas and explanation of what is in the photos including different types of plants being used and different trees. It seems quite descriptive and I am very much enjoying my copy. I am getting ready to move to the southwest and I am not used to the Flora there. This book has given me thousands of different ideas to pick from once I start Landscaping my yard ... show more

  • Informative, but strange layout
Format: Paperback
I can not sing the praises of this book enough. It has tips on harvesting and usage, along with a nifty medicine section. But despite these amazing aspects I will admit I am not a big fan of the alphabetical order used to present the plants in the book while the early section that has them all listed is by environment types and regions. Often its faster to look up a given plant rather than try to identify it in the beginning portion of the book, and the subpar environmental descriptions make it a little difficult to navigate that minor portion. ... show more
