I've had this dresser for about 1 month and 2 of the drawers fell apart already. Completely destroyed. Very low quality. Just when I was about to buy the south shore versa 5 door dresser to match it for my bedroom this happens. I would definitely not recomend this piece of furniture. I would return it if I could. Giving this one star, is overreaching. You can buy a $50 dresser at Walmart that is better quality than this. I purchased this dresser on March 22 of this year. I paid for the Amazon expert assembly. They came out right away, and could not complete the dresser because it was missing several parts. I had to call South Shore three different times to get them to send me all the correct parts. Because of this, it took an entire month to become fully assembled. Once it was finally pit together, the Assembly man said that it was a very poor quality. He brought in another man with him to verify that he put it together correctly. They both put it together correctly and according to the manufacturers instructions. The dresser was lopsided and leaning to the left. Only two of the drawers closed completely. The other 4 Close to partially and did not completely close. the assembly man and brought in his own parts to try to make it sturdier. The top of the dresser appears to be contact paper on top of the plywood, and this is started to completely peel off within three days. There are only two drawers that actually work. The rest do not close completely. I contacted the manufacturer regarding that I wanted a refund. I never received any reply or acknowledgment after reaching out several times. I went to the seller of this item next. He told me that since it took me a month to make them aware of the problem, the time for refunds had expired. He then stated that he was not going to refund me. The reason that it took that long there necause of them send did me and complete parts. I did not receive two drawer rails top and bottom. 6 drawer screws, 2 tightening bolts, and a dowel. It took me calling four times to get all the parts I needed. They were all sent in the three different shipments. All of this took time. I had to schedule with the assembly guys each time the correct parts came. That's why it took over a month. So with the price of the assembly, I am down $300 and my daughter has not had a dresser since she broke her old one in February which was a hand-me-down that had been used by eight people and rickety. It was still better than this one . I have been fighting with Amazon to refund, because the seller refused. Is just been a freaking nightmare. Do not buy furniture from Amazon, South Shore, or this seller. So with the price of the assembly, I am down $300 and my daughter has not had a dresser since February. Do not buy furniture from Amazon, South Shore, or this seller. I don't have an extra $300 to buy her another dresser so she is continuing to go without. I have never had this type of experience with Amazon before. Going forward, I'm not buying anything over $30 off of Amazon ever again. If you want to buy a dresser, save yourself three months of hell and buy it from a reputable place. Now I have to either give this to the neighbor to burn in his fire pit, or pay $40 to my trash company the hauling it away for me. After all I paid, I could've bought a decent one from slumberland outlet. after a month of fighting with Amazon to get refunded, I'm still out the money. Amazons excuse is that it was from a third-party seller. Apparently they just let their third-party sellers run amuck, selling crappy furniture and taking people's money and not refunding. I inspected the item on unpacking and no chips. Started putting together and I chipped it in 2 areas (just small chips) because I was maybe too rough on it? I will touch up with some gray paint. Next time I need to tape the corners and do all the work on a rug. As others have stated it did take a long time to put together but instructions were clear, just need to thoroughly read them and lay all the parts out. Once together, the piece is very sturdy and heavy and the drawers glide very smoothly. I'm wondering if those who claim it's not study didn't tighten the bolts enough or nail the back onto it like your supposed too? Once all put together it really does look nice and is very functional. I also brought the chest of drawers and 2 nightstands that match this dresser. I really have no reason not to give this product 5 stars. Any damage was my own fault and yes, assembly took a long time and wasn't fun but that was not due to poor instructions - that's the case with all furniture you have to assemble yourself - comes with the territory. Bonus - they do provide extra parts just-in-case. Also, if you call South Shore they will send you replacement parts for any that were damaged free of charge. Based on my experience I would recommend this furniture. However you need to be aware that if for any reason you want to return it, Amazon will require you to take it all apart again and package it up. ... show more

    • Better than expected

We're always skeptical when buying assembly style furniture, but this one surprised us. The instructions were clear which was a nice change. The finish (Gray Maple) looks better than expected in person. We did receive one white piece in the box, but fortunately it was an internal drawer support so the color difference is not noticeable unless the drawer are out. I always use wood glue on assembly style furniture, this time was no exception. I do believe it would feel mostly sturdy without the glue, but did not want to risk it. If I could change any one thing about this unit, I would change the hardware packaging. I would recommend the manufacturer either A) label all of the little packages of hardware, or B) group them by step. That being said, they do put pictures of the needed hardware, to scale, on each step which helps identify the pieces needed. Packaging of the dresser was top notch compared to other assembly style furniture we've purchased in the past. our packages got pretty beat up by UPS on their way and we did not have one broke, or damaged piece. Everything was wrapped together within the box, so it couldn't shift, and then there was multiple inches of foam or cardboard to help absorb drops or bangs. Overall, we would certainly purchase this again given the opportunity of a "do over" and we will consider their other line of products for future purchases. ... show more
