This is exactly what my husband and I were looking for! First of all, yes it's likely a bit cheaper than you would pay in a furniture store so therefore the quality may not be up to standard for everyone- but I was fine with that as I understood I am purchasing this product off of amazon for one and spending less money for two than I may otherwise be asked to do in a furniture store. And I didn't think the quality was that bad- I think it's actually pretty fair for the price we paid and I am happy with it. That being said I love this chest of drawers. I was looking for some type of storage unit for my husband's office. He is "techy" and needed an enclosed, fairly sturdy storage unit for his multitude of tech items: ranging from cords (SO MANY!) to electric equipment, computer equipment, etc. We didn't want to get him a regular sized dresser as this would have been too big for his office space but liked the idea of something similar to a dresser. This fits that description perfectly. It fits appropriately and nicely in his office and provides him with a lot of extra storage. Be aware the drawers of this chest are smaller than your average dresser drawers and more shallow- We liked it for that reason. I would recommend the customer consider what you plan to store in the chest- I would say this particular chest may not bode so well for most if your plan is to store clothing... unless it's light clothing or infant/children clothing (which I personally think it would work great for). We love the black and also feel the hardware is sleek and very appropriate- it works very nicely with the look of the chest. BEWARE, YES- it comes with a MULTITUDE of pieces. It's not an easy, simple or fast assembly (at least I assume for most humans :) ). I believe it took my husband about 2 hours- and he had no serious issues- it simply took that long. Not one part of it comes assembled- SO BE PREPARED TO ASSEMBLE. I want to say when I purchased this an offer popped up inquiring if I wanted to pay extra money for assembly by someone else. I of course declined as I don't want to pay an extra $30 or $40 for a person to assemble it (I'm all about saving money). BUT also I'm not certain how the "someone to assemble offer" works. I'm not certain if they contract out and someone comes to your home or they attempt to assemble it prior to shipping and hope it arrives in one piece undamaged- didn't want to do either of those situations. The box came in with fairly little damage- by that I mean it had some minor corner damage etc, but nothing to make me overly concerned and nothing on the inside was damaged. My husband and I discovered quickly it is a VERY HEAVY box. It took both of us carrying it up our 3 flights of stairs to our apt- so be prepared to get your weight lifting on if you're in a similar situation. Also be prepared to get some styrofoam strewn across your work area- it's inevitable. I believe I may have noticed another review stating their drawers came with plastic sliders- I'm not certain if I understood their review correctly but our chest of drawers came with metal sliders. So the pieces that are on the sides of each drawer that allow it to smoothly glide in/out of it's place in the chest- they all work very smoothly and we have had no issues thus far. All in all if you're looking for a "dresser" or chest of drawers this is a great option. Just remember it is smaller than a regular dresser. If you're not a stickler and overly dramatic about how "absolutely wonderful, terrific, amazing and sensational" the quality of your AMAZON furniture purchase is than I'd say give this a shot. I read the reviews before I purchased, purchased it anyways and am very glad I did. No regrets and it works perfectly for the use we intended. Happy Furniture Hunting! I have assembled a ton of inexpensive, shipped in a box, type of furniture and I have only positive comments about this piece. First it was packaged very well. The exterior box had some damage and I was concerned prior to opening it, but was happy to see that there was no damage due to how well it was protected. Normally I don't like to see how American products are over packaged and so much goes to the landfill but this is a case where it is warranted. Second, The instructions were better than most of this class of furniture. I've learned that it is best to lay out ALL parts and inventory them prior to starting assembly. Third, for inexpensive furniture, it is higher quality than others I've bought. For pressed wood it has a good quality, the drawer slides are quality metal with rollers, the hardware was better than most and all of the holes were drilled accurately. Having assembled so much of this level of furniture, I have learned that prep is essential. Get the right tools out to start(Small hammer or mallet, multiple screwdrivers, wood glue and a damp cloth and I use a square to check that components are true). DON'T USE POWER TOOLS TO ASSEMBLE. Anywhere that exposed pressed board comes in contact...USE GLUE! Even where you have the twist locks and especially on both ends of dowels. It will greatly extend the longevity of the piece and reduce "wobbly-ness" that can be inherent in self-assembled furniture. The one exception to that is the drawer bottoms, Leave those "float". The only area that I had any issues were some of the twist locks started to pull sideways if I tried to overtighten them(there is a reason the instructions say "go slightly past a half turn", don't take them too far). I am happier with this purchase than I've been with most self assembled furniture and have to give "props" to the designers. I would buy more furniture made by South Shore. Remember, if you want it done right, it will take some time and planning. ... show more

I got the white chest. I’ve had it for about 2 years now and it’s still going strong and looks brand new. The only con is that it doesn’t have enough drawer space so if you’re looking for that I wouldn’t recommend this.

Expectations: *Not an eye sore *Good quality *Easy to assemble It's a nice looking dresser. The quality is good, not great. There is some chipping around the edges. They do provide a marker to cover the blemishes. The marker is rough and in bad areas, it makes the chipping worst. I used transparent tape to cover the chipping and colored that. The assembly instructions is pretty easy to follow. The wood parts are labeled on the edges. I didn't notice that on my first build. I relied on the pictures to identify the correct parts. They give a baggy of spare parts, which is nice. I was extremely impressed with their customer service. I bought two and both arrived like they been dropped out of a truck multiple times and dragged to my door steps. The item is a legit 100lbs so I can understand, not accept, the abuse. The item is packaged well. I was impressed that I only had one cracked board. The packaging said 5 years warranty so I said what the hell and called. Got voicemail. I went to their website and I corresponded with a rep via instant messaging. In less than 10 minutes, I had a replacement part ordered, in a couple of hours, confirmed shipment, and in 5 days, the part arrived. (I did get a call back a day later from my call.) I must have bought the super cheapo version because the part shipped was much better quality. One last thing, by looking at the face of the dresser drawers, it makes it seem like the drawers are that size. The face is like 6 inches high. The drawers are actually only 4 inches high. I'm using it for clothes and I can stack the same amount of clothes compared to my old 6 inch high drawers. My 5 stars are based on my expectations and the unexpected excellent customer service. ... show more
