Happy that my order arrived quickly. But when I saw the outside of the box, I quickly became concerned. There is minor damage to the side of the board, which isn't a big deal because it's going to get dinged out in the water anyway, but when you buy something new you expect it to be in good shape.

I feel that 9 foot one would better catch slower waves, but with some practice and enough power from wave, it still aids to great wave riding.

    • Slightly expensive quality 7’ beginner board.
Seems like a decent quality foam board for beginners. A little pricey for what it is. Initially got shipped the wrong color, but returned and got the right one the next time. My daughter’s taken it out about half a dozen times so far; seems to be holding up well.

Excellent customer service, so don't hesitate if that is a concern. I waited to write my review until I used the board (8 ft longboard). I really enjoyed it. I had a blast surfing with my brother and looking forward to teaching the kids. This board was fun dropping in and still more maneuverable than I expected. So, if you are a beginner or more experienced surfer looking for a great surfboard, look no further! If something changes, with respect to quality/durability, I will definitely update. This is a windsurfing board being sold without the sail. It is not maneuverable like a wave surfboard. It is thicker and heavier than a regular wave surfboard. It is difficult to duckdive into oncoming surf. It does not move as quickly when paddling as a wave surfboard. In the product pictures see screw attachment at the top front of board for sail attachment. Buy a wave surfboard for surfing. ... show more

After a warehouse snafu, we received the board within about 1 week. My 13 year old daughter loved it, and she was able to get up and ride waves with incredible ease. Unfortunately, after only her third time out, one of the fins and fin box completely separated from the board. I reached out to South Bay Board Co. and they arranged for a full refund. Sadly, the damage is irreparable because it is a foam board. I was so happy with the customer service that I turned around and purchased another board for my daughter and one for my son from the same company. Now I am just hoping this fin issue was a fluke and it won’t happen again. I did learn that I will keep the packaging for these new boards in case there is a problem with them. I disposed of the packaging from the broken board and now I am stuck with an unusable surf board in my garage. Thinking it may make a nice piece of wall art, though. Bottom line is that this is a great company to deal with and what I hope is a one-off problem that won’t happen again. ... show more

I love the board! Ive had a dozen fiberglass boards and recently switched to soft boards.. ie wavestorm... this SBBC is by far a much more refined quality board.. the shape , construction, quality, fins ,double concave bottom.. mind blowing for sure.. I was reluctant to spend the extra $$ for it but I can now see why .. IT'S WORTH IT!! I'll give an update after taking it the water..but I'm expecting only positive vibes.. ... show more
