The battery pack is defective and doesn't charge, and can't use speakers. Customer service for SoundExtreme says can't help and returning full item through Amazon is not feasible. Dropping this amount of money it should work.

These speakers are excellent. They are ideal for a side by side or boat because of how they mount to railing/pipe. They are compatible to mount on 1.5-3 inch railing. These speakers are unique in the fact they do have the battery option, but I prefer the hard wire route. Just make sure you're running the speakers on a 12V system. Connection via Bluetooth is seamless. They have a 600W output which is plenty loud for their purpose. Each one has an 8 in speaker and 1.5 in tweeter which produce sound loud enough that an engine doesn't interfere with being able to hear the music. Because they are waterproof, there is not a concern about them getting a bit wet, although I haven't tested this fully (let the speakers get soaked). As I don't use the battery power function, I can't speak on battery life. Overall, these speakers are easy to install, easy to use, can run off battery or be hardwired, and have a lot of power. ... show more

We set these up in our patio area. I chose these because they are waterproof and while a boat is the original intended purpose I honestly feel that they will last longer in our humid hell because of this. I have only had them for a short time but overall I am impressed.
