We let the mattress stand for 2 days to ensure it would not deflate at all. The mattress stayed inflated over a 2 day period & also the following 2 days our guest slept on it. The sleeping surface is a bit hard, but as expected for an air mattress. To improve the quality we layered it with a 3" queen size memory foam pad and topped that with a quilted memory foam mattress pad with elastic sides/corners and a queen size sheet. All were a great taut fit and super comfortable. All the toppers held their place with no riding up for the duration. Overall I was pleased our guests had a comfortable sleeping experience. We have use this mattress every night for about six weeks now. It holds air very well. The first week or so the plastic is still stretching out so it will feel like it is losing air but then after that it does not stretch anymore and does not lose any air. If you put sheets directly on the mattress without any mattress, pad or memory foam, it will feel very firm and to me not super comfortable. However, I purchased the Easeland twin XL cushy mattress pad and it added some padding. Then I wanted it a little bit softer, so I added a thick memory foam pad. Now it feels like an actual mattress and is very comfortable. I am a stomach sleeper so I like it to be soft enough but also a consistent flat feeling not bumpy. I would definitely recommend this mattress with those modifications. It has been great. ... show more

    • Already love it! Way better than Intex Durabeam!

We initially purchased an Intex Durabeam from Walmart (note: you *cannot* return them, only "exchange" them for equal value of more of their air mattresses). The first night it seemed to lose about 1/4 to 1/3 of the air it initially contained. We had to re-inflate it half way through the night when we just couldn't stand it anymore. We assumed all of this was the "new it's stretching" thing. We went camping about 2 weeks later and night after night had the same problem. We couldn't sleep well at all, because while we like to cuddle, this was forcibly shoved together into this hammock created by the loss of air and was almost impossible to get out of. It had to have looked like a couple of beached whales trying to work their way back into the ocean. We came home from that camping trip and I found that this mattress had gone on sale and although it cost more, I knew if it could stay inflated then we would be in business. We are still on that next camping trip. Tonight will be our 5th night on it. We have not had to reinflate it during the night a single time. We added a tiny bit of air before bed the second night (this was due to the expected stretching from the night before and sitting on it a few times during the day). We added about the same amount of air when we got up today (so 3 full nights before it needed more air at all). When it does need air, you just sink a bit where you are. You still feel supported, like you have your own space on the mattress. We don't roll into the center together nor do we feel like we will roll off the edge. It feels like a "regular" mattress for the most part. There has been no weird off gassing like there was with the Intex either. We LOVE our SoundAsleep air mattress!! ... show more
