    • Great low end fill for Stagepas 600BT

Recently purchased a Yamaha Stagepas 600BT PA system to replace an old failing Harbinger system. The mids and highs were great and much cleaner than my old system but lacked the bass the old system had. ThaYamaha subwoofer was expensive and not that well rated by many users. I decided to try the Soundtown 18” mainly for the price point. It arrived in a few days but the box and the subwoofer were both damaged in shipment. I hooked it up and was pleasantly surprised at the sound it delivered. Just right to fill and balance the overall sound I wanted. Since the damage was cosmetic only, I contacted Soundtown Customer Service and they were quick to make it right with a partial refund. I was satisfied with their fast response to my issue and ordered a second unit and a pair of poles to mount my top speakers above the subs. These are not heavy thumpers if that’s what you are looking for but they do a great job of fleshing out the low end on my system. Good subs for the price. Great customer service too. ... show more

    • My Thoughts After Over a Year of Use

Here's a long-term review. I have had it for about 2 years. I use it mostly for room about the size of a basketball court. It does a decent job, considering people only using half the room for dancing. Sound quality wise, it offers a bit more bass than my 15" JBL PA speakers. It doesn't put out really deep bass. It seems to drop off around 40hz. That's almost expected for a ported subwoofer. It's not the smoothest or best sounding subwoofer, but it's decent. The untrained ear will not know the difference. Especially while dancing, nobody is looking for sound quality. They are looking for the feel of the bass, which this has. Performance was good. The bass is extremely noticeable. It doesn't handle abuse and heavy bass songs very well. The sub blew after about a year and a half. My son was trying to play rap music with it while at a house party. I am about to replace it with a Rockville 18" subwoofer. It states the RMS power is 700 watts. I would actually be surprised if it was more than 500 Watts. My overall thoughts? It's a really good sub, for the price. As long as you don't try to shake the building with it, it will last you a while. just keep an eye on the "Clipping" light. It's heavy compared to the plastic enclosures, but it's about as heavy as all the other wooden enclosures. For the price of a name-brand subwoofer, you can get 2 or 3 of these. That will provide a lot more bass and offer a backup. ... show more

Stop. Take your money and buy a different sub. It doesn't sound very good at all. It misses all the lower frequency bass and look at the bad reviews, they are correct. You have to pay to return it. We are keeping this junk sub because I'll end up losing money. Does anyone have an advise on how to make this sub sound good? Can I change the driver? It's such a pos it doesn't hit any of the low bass and sounds very tinny. ... show more

Sound town did a great job with this sub! It has great sound quality for the price. I have mainly a Mackie brand DJ system, but was not looking to spend a lot of money for a little more low end. This was the perfect find. Works great with my system.
