  • Just awesome
Color: 252W Peak Power with Bluetooth 5.0 and S...
I am a little bit of an auto file when it comes to my headphones, but for my speakers I want fun sound. These are fun, punchy base, great surround sound, RGB is beautiful and all around great sound. What I found nice is I can get them accurate sounding. The mic is God awful I wouldn't use it. I disabled it and called it good. One problem I had was I think more of an AMD problem. It was doing the USB disconnecting and reconnecting. When I have this problem I always fix it by putting the USB in a USB dongle. I have one in the back of my computer to put devices that have this issue and it hasn't done it since. ... show more

  • Worthy ProMedia Upgrade!
Color: 252W Peak Power with Bluetooth 5.0 and S...
I've been on the hunt to replace my 15-year old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 setup for ages! With a 49" monitor the box style separates just aren't ideal anymore so I was looking for high quality with max space savings. Ideally I would have a Sonos Beam underneath my monitor but my current motherboard doesn't have optical out. I tried the AudioEngine HD4 prior and was not impressed vs the Klipsch. There really aren't many options in the PC sound bar space sadly. So I gave the Katana v2 a shot and yes, I knew in minutes this bar would replace my Klipsch separates. USB-C from the bar to USB-A on the PC, Win10 installed the device and it was ready for business in seconds. Loaded up Tangerine Sour by Emancipator, played via the Klipsch then played via the Katana v2. YES!! Finally a worthy rival. Highs popping where they're supposed to, excellent mid range, as much low end as you want. Loaded up Elden Ring, fantastic, immersive eerie and soaring sounds. I really like that you can adjust 90% of what you will likely need simply using the remote. To update firmware, use custom EQ or disable the standby timeout, you will need the "Creative App" (not SXFI app!). Highly recommend you get this on PC or Mac which requires no account, NOT the mobile version. I'm not a fan of the front LCD display at all so turned that off immediately. Then shifted the LED to white to match my theme but long term will probably turn that off too. I turned the sub way down too which is very loud out of the box. The volume on this thing is crazy, as others have mentioned. I have Windows volume set to 10 and the bar set to a 5, this is a good daily low-ish setting. TONS of room for volume if you want it. My only complaint so far, besides the aesthetics of that front panel (ugh) is the standby time out. With no audio signal the v2 will put itself in standby mode after a few minutes. The only problem sometimes is the lag of the bar having to wake up before playing whatever audio signal you want at that moment. It comes back pretty quick but could take up to 10 full seconds. You could also manually wake via button or remote before playing any audio. I didn't try SXFI as I don't think I really have a need a for it but may revisit. Overall really happy with the v2, the hype is real! Pros: -Loads of connection options: USB, bluetooth, HDMI, optical, aux -Small footprint and great sound, perfect for large or multi monitors -High volume, you could definitely fill a small-medium sized room -The remote is great and provides all basic customizability, I don't use the app at all -LED customizability, if you care or you can just turn off Cons: -Somewhat pricey, even at $350 discounted -Not a fan of the front panel "window", would much prefer it wasn't there -Standby mode wakeup delay is annoying but can be disabled via Creative App -Minor nit but the size of the sub is bigger than my ITX PC case -Creative sends multiple global power connection types in the box which surely adds needless cost ... show more

  • The BEST Small Soundbar you'll find
Color: 150W Peak Power with Bluetooth 4.2
I really wanted to upgrade my old sound system and needed a small soundbar that would fit under my 32 inch monitor with really good sound quality for every scenario (music, movies, gaming). I also wanted to hear dialogue more clearly and more balanced sound overall. I researched almost every soundbar out there and found this one to be the best out of all of them not just for it's size but also it's features and overall sound quality for the price and it absolutely delivered in every category. Now this sound bar is a couple of years old now so don't expect the latest and greatest audio technology (Dolby Atmos and DTS:X). Finding a soundbar with either of these two technologies costs alot more and none of them were in a compact size like this soundbar. Maybe in another 10 years we'll start seeing more of these and in a compact size. I compared the following soundbar models to this one: 1. Yamaha YAS 108/109 - Doesn't have a subwoofer and was too long/big. Doesn't have an equalizer to tweak. 109 model just adds Alexa and charges more? Has software problems. 2. Yamaha YAS 208/209 - Pretty much the same as the above but has a subwoofer and better sound quality. Sound apparently cuts out sometimes. 209 just adds Alexa and charges more. 3. Sonos Playbar and Beam - Way too expensive and it comes with way too many features I don't need. I didnt want a smart soundbar with Alexa or Chromecast. Neither comes with a subwoofer unless you buy it separately which adds a lot to the price. 4. Bose Solo 500 or Bose Solo 5 - Reviews claim the sound quality isn't as good as the above soundbars. 5. Roku Soundbar - This one I was close to getting but apparently it doesn't have as good sound quality as the others. There were others I looked at as well but they all seemed to have some kind of problem or was too big for my desk. Back to this soundbar, it has great software from Creative. Includes an equalizer, 3 levels of making dialogue more clear and man did this deliver. I no longer need to use subtitles. Can make it so you don't encounter sudden loud sounds so you make all sounds more balanced. A crystalizer which made music sound more clear. I can hear every detail/instrument in a soundtrack very clearly now. There's also some things you can set to make your microphone more clear or morph your voice but I didn't try it. As an added bonus you get a light show that you can customize beneath the soundbar and man does it look good even during the day. Some additional details, the soundbar automatically goes into stand by maybe after 20 minutes or so if it doesn't pick up a sound. It takes about a second to wake up when you use it again. Only issues I encountered were that once you connect headphones it takes over all the sound and the plug is in the back so it's hard to connect your headphones to it everytime. I get some pops and static here and there. Might be due to interference from the USB connection. I'll play around with it and update if I manage to get rid of it. I updated all the firmware and got the latest software version and drivers. The subwoofer is a little too tall to fit under my desk. I had to lay it down horizontally to fit. Overall, this is the best soundbar I could find to fit all my requirements. I highly recommend it even with it's minor flaws. You'll thank me when you can hear every word of dialogue and crystal clear audio overall. 😁 ... show more

  • I love my original Katana so much, I bought a second one!
Color: 150W Peak Power with Bluetooth 4.2
I bought my first SoundblasterX Katana a couple of years ago. I have a LOT of computer gear on my desk, and I loved the space-saving aspect of a desktop sound bar. I also love RGB, and this soundbar offers a fantastic RGB experience if you don't mind dealing with sometimes dodgy software. One of my cats even puked into the original one, and I thought I'd have to throw it out. You CANNOT remove the speaker grille, but I also wasn't going to sit with a vomit-filled speaker on my desk. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I unplugged it, and scrubbed the hell out of it with pet enzyme cleaner and an old toothbrush. I got it clean, gave it time to dry, and it still worked perfectly! When I decided to move some of my extra computer equipment to the bedroom, to set up an overbed gaming system (my disabilities can leave me bed-bound for days), I bought a second Katana for the bedroom. Yes, this has been out for a bit, but after spending a few hours researching, this was still an easy choice! ... show more
