    • Overall best bang for your buck

Tried a few over ear, noise canceling, headphones out and these were king. Price was great. Noise canceling is insanely good. Music sounds good. They are comfortable. I use them for my open office so I don’t hear my coworkers and it literally feels like dead silence when on noise canceling.

If you are using these headphones to primarily listen to music they are fantastic. The stereo effect is so nice and it makes music a pleasure to listen to. Given the lightweight nature of these headphones, you could listen for hours without any issues. And connecting to bluetooth was super simple. The ear cups are soft but I wouldn't have minded if they were a touch larger. The plastic is solid and nothing on the earphones feels cheap. It's a quality product. I will say, I am not a huge fan of the Sony App. It tries to get you to log in but it turns out you actually don't need to. Wish I would have known this the first time around rather than trying to remember a password for an old Playstation account. The important thing about the app is, this is where you can control the eq settings. Yes this is important as it customizes the sound to your personal preferences. It did take a little trial and error to find what I liked but once I did it was great. If you are planning on using these headphones to make calls, that's where I had a couple issues. The biggest issue is, I couldn't hear my voice in the headphone. So imagine you're talking with noise cancelling on and you have virtually no feedback of your own voice. It almost feels like you need to yell just to talk. Maybe I'm missing a setting but I went through everything looking for a fix. On the other end the person said it sounded good but in the higher range. Said there was not much bass in my voice but the clarity and volume was spot on. So that's where my review diverges. As a music headphone we're talking 5/5. Using this for calls 3.5/5. If you have no plans to use this to make calls then go for it without hesitation. If you want it for calls I would keep looking. ... show more

Bought one of these almost two years ago, battery stopped charging. Called Sony and they said they only warranty for 1 year. If you sell a product for $300, it should be have quality than this. I have beats that I bought 5 years ago and they still work fine.

    • Super Rich Sound Quality With Excellent Noise Canceling in a Classic Build.

I have had a few pairs of Sony's recently released headphones: CH730N, this pair (1000XM4C) and their more top tier pair, the XM6. This are priced as a lower tier level to the XM6, with a more classic design, but surprisingly similar sound to the XM6. There isn't quite as much bass and overall surround feel, but the quality is loud and crisp, with rich tones. It makes these a wonderful pair for enjoying music, audible books, and podcasts. They do work well for shows and movies as well, but again, they don't have that true richness and surround like feel that the XM6 do, so if you watch more TV or really want a mind expanding music experience, definitely go for the XM6. These are lightweight, although don't have the cheapish feel of the 730N. These have a sturdier plastic design, and feel like great quality. They not only sound great, but also are extraordinarily comfortable, with nicely padded, squishy earcups that completely cover the ear without compression, and a matching thick/squishy headband. These *almost* feel like wearing nothing, even for extended wearing periods. On these you have two control buttons, but also use the actual outer part of the pad for touch controls. These charge via usb C cable (not included) and do have an AUX port with an included cable, great for hooking up to monitors on planes. The touch controls do take a little time to get used to, but are fairly easy. You can toggle the ANC off for times when you need to make a call or otherwise need it off, which is great as these knock out pretty much all sound, even when nothing is playing. If you've got these set loud, you will be totally oblivious to anything else. I really love that these come with a quality case, unlike the 730N (which have none). It's compact and has a nice divider to help keep things in place. There's also a helpful diagram on the bottom so you know how to put them back in, which has already been a huge help because the first thing out of my husband's mouth was "I'll never figure out how to put these back in there," until he saw the bottom, LOL! I admittedly still occasinally have issues popping my XM6 back into their case. I got these to replace/upgrade my husband's old pair of Skullcandy headphones. He was honestly shocked by not only the sound quality but by just how much these cut external noise. The noise canceling really is amazing! While my personal preference is still the XM6, which you can get for around the same price occasionally when there are good deals, these aren't far behind with sound quality. If you're wanting more of that classic headphone style, and aren't really looking for a crazy surround feel for television, these are a phenomenal pair of headphones that are sure to please. ... show more

    • Uncomfortable; Hissing / squealing noise
Color: Black
I sent them back. Sound is really good. They begin to hurt after 15 min of use. There was also a squealing / hissing noise coming out of the right side. Not sure if its a defect or an anc / transparency thing. Also.. the app is annoying. Sure, it gives you a lot of options to control your music and headphones, but its constantly advertising sony music for you to buy, as a pop up that you cannot remove. It also has anc on by default, so I always have to hear that annoying hiss. The menu also feels a little messy. I had high hopes but was very disappointed. I always felt commenting on comfort in reviews was very boojie, until I tried these. I ended up getting the momentum 4 and the nothing 1 and am very happy with my purchases. ... show more
