  • Reasonably priced wired headphones, good quality sound
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
Pleasantly pleased with the sound quality and comfort of these headphones. They are a good replacement for an old set used for KORG keyboard. Cable inserts securely into keyboard, cord is sufficiently long as to not interfere with instrument use. Noise cancelling is mediocre but that was not an important criteria for me. I needed a comfortable set of wired headphones not a professional grade product. This fit the bill. ... show more

  • Highly recommended
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
These headphones are awesome! Originally, I was looking for Bose-like headphones. I bought BOHM ones (off of Amazon) to try, and ended up returning them because there was no visible noise-cancellation (and they were close to $100). These have better noise cancellation - they definitely do not silence people around you, but they do make things quieter, even without music playing. With music playing, you can pretty much zone out, which is pretty much perfect. I've also tried a more expensive pair of Sony Headphones (they were close to $200) - I would say that the noise-cancelling feature is pretty much the same... at least, I didn't notice much of a difference between the two quality-wise. The more expensive Sonys were better quality in terms of material, look, and the speakers encapsulate your ears more effectively. But for the price, I would overwhelmingly choose these ones! As an example, I'm currently writing this review in my apartment with the dish washer and dryer running... they're pretty loud. When I flip the noise-cancel switch (I don't have any music playing), the humming is gone, but I can still hear the swishing of the water in the dishwasher. These headphones are perfect for when you're on the 'quiet' floor of the library, and that one person starts eating a bag of carrots... ugh that's the worst! I also like how they fold up, I'm in college, so I just smoosh them into my backpack. They're much more comfortable than earbuds for studying, they don't hurt your ears. Side note: I definitely prefer these to bluetooth headphones - you don't need to charge them, all you need is a single battery. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. These are inexpensive, functional, and have great sound quality! ... show more

  • Dynamic Boost ?
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
Wanted these to be better than they truly are. Over the ears comfy, absolutely, can be used for hours. The soundscape is neutral and on the flatter side, not bad for the money, but nothing special. I don't understand the Noise Cancellation at all, it reminds me of the Dynamic Boost that they used to have many a year ago where the soundscape becomes more vibrant especially the lower end of the frequency range. The NC helps a little but it's not as nice as the WF-C510 's but those are wireless unfortunately. Side by Side comparison; their MDR7506's are only 25-30$ more, over the year, better quality materials, and don't have the NC, but the quality is substantially better where whatever you're listening to drowns out more of the outside noise... figure that one out ... ... show more

  • Decent steady headphones.
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
These work like a champ. Noise cancelling is honestly distorted bass in any headphone. Today’s fashion is all about the bass. No it distorts sound. Badly. The sound is clearer with noise reduction on. Boost appears to be all around as opposed to bass blasting. Fit is easier. Spent years wearing kettle drums and these do what you need for travel. You should buy the suggested case for these. Storage is easy. I prefer these because they have a normal headphones jack which if I recall is 3.5 mm. I detest wireless as they do fail for 0 reason and for the price these are good. Again the craze for the bass will eventually deafen you. I would give these as a gift. The hidden bonus feature is they do not dry out and blast everyone around you with your annoying music and stream tik toks. And. I really dislike blue tooth. These do not have it and I did not want it. Thank God. ... show more

  • They don't cancel out the sound of your snoring husband in the bed next to you.
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
I bought these headphones because I was looking for a pair of noise cancelling headphones that wouldn't break the bank. These headphones were some of the top rated and the price was reasonable. I didn't want to spend $50 for a pair of headphones. I wanted noise cancelling headphones because my husband is an awful snorer! It is ridiculous how much and how loud he snores! I read the various reviews of what people said these worked at cancelling out sound. I figured I'd give it a try. I was worried about how big they would be when sleeping. I sleep on my stomach so my head is on its side. Little earbuds usually hurt when I lay down to sleep. These headphones came and I tried them out while my husband was playing video games. I could still hear the sound of him talking and the game. Next step was to try them in bed. I turned them on and I could still hear my husband snoring. They did muffle the sound, but I could still hear it lightly in the background of the classical music I listen to to sleep. Even though I could still hear him snoring, turning on the electronic noise cancelling feature did help more than without it. They are very comfortable to sleep in and I'm happy that I bought these instead of earbuds. The battery for the electronic noise cancelling feature doesn't last too long, especially when it is on all night. Overall they are good headphones and have excellent sound quality but they don't cancel out the snoring husband in the bed next to you. ... show more

  • Fantastic. 5 stars due to value for money
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
Fantastic. 5 stars due to value for money, they aren't perfect, but the imperfections are overlooked by low cost. What I like; - Noise canceling headphones for sub $35, whats not to like about that? - runs on a single AAA Battery, for up to 80 hours, WHAT? - They get so loud, you can feel the drivers vibrating on your ears, hearing damage? I think so. - Noise canceling is fabulous for situations with tons of ambient noise. Loud white noise, Fans running, traffic driving by your apartment window? No worries, These headphones have you covered. - Excellent range of audio, lows, mids, and highs are well covered. Good bass, quality mids, and... Somewhat distorted highs. Common Sony characteristics. Whats not so great: - Cheap feeling plastic, the tolerances between the headband, and ear cups are HUGE. they rattle and cladder as you hold them or wiggle them around in your hands, they are literally ALL plastic. This doesn't effect my review, mostly because its obvious the money went into the drivers and the noise cancelation technology - no padding on the top of the band, those of us with hair won't mind, bald people probably wont like this. - The cord feels super SUPER cheap, but it does do the job. - The cord goes to each driver, meaning you have two cords hanging from the headphones, would be nice if there was only one, small complaint. in summary, BUY!!! BUY!!! BUY!!!! I needed these because I work in an environment that averages about 85 dB all day, I would get headaches by 1 or 2 PM, NOT ANYMORE! Thanks Amazon! Thanks Sony! ... show more

  • Surprisingly good travel headphones for the price.
Size: medium Style: MDR-ZX110NC
This is a Boomer review since younger people know much more about headphones than I do, and everyone has them. But for those who only use headphones on the plane, especially for the noise canceling feature, this is for you. I specifically looked for plug-in headphones because they are more comfortable than earbuds, and more reliable than bluetooth. No, these are not Bose headphones, but hilariously, they rank second to Bose on many reviewers' lists! I bought these to replace my 15 year old Audio Technica headphones that still work but are falling apart. I took both pairs with me on a recent trip and did a comparison. I could not tell a difference between them, even though the Audio Technica ones covered my ears better. When not watching movies I wore them just for the noise-cancelling feature, which worked just fine. I am a relatively small woman so larger people might have a different experience with ear coverage. These earphones fold up and become quite compact so they don't take up much room in your carry-on bag. They fit neatly into small, semi-circular cases that are readily available on Amazon, and which I highly recommend. The nearly identical version of these headphones at about half the price does not have the noise canceling feature. Make sure you get the ones with a product number that ends in NC. ... show more

  • Great Deal
I'm a classical musician that listens to everything. I own the $15 Koss UR 18 ( comfy and with decent bass for the price) which are good at their price range. I also own $75 Senheisser HD 280. They are bulky with very good passive isolation, and more natural sound. I had the $450 Beats Pro for a while, and they were great for popular music , with control talk, great bass, and superior to all other beats. Now about these pair or Sonys: Sound: they have more bass and treble than the Senheisser 280, but these Sonys sound a bit hollow. For the price range it is Pretty good, I guess. Nothing impressive. I like their boomy bass for some styles of music. Isolation: They reduced the bathroom fan and the bus ramble very noticeably. Voices are softer but at the same time you can hear words more clearly. So keep those differences in mind. (** update: two days later, it's been a few times that people talked to me in the house while listening to angry rock at 40% of volume and I did not hear them at all). Having said that, they're not as good as the Bose QC 25, but they are exactly ten times cheaper. Portability: They fold flat and small in a way that is super compact. No bag included. It uses a AAA battery , easy to use, and it comes with one. Cons: No control to pick up calls. Trebles get harsh after an hour or so, and it hurts a bit, unless you can equalize it well. Sound can be a bit hollow in the middle. Comfort: They are very comfortable even with glasses on. My head is small though. I paid $30 for them, and sometimes I prefer them over the Senhheisser hd 280 to listen to music on the go, specially bass oriented music. The Senheisser are better at blocking higher pitch sounds ( ppl , tv, etc) bc they are big and press against your head, so I kept them for those situations. These Sonys have the *active* noise canceling , which improves their sound. >>>They still work without it, though. So you can listen even without batteries. Sound loses boom and volume, but they work. I'm pretty happy with them for the price. Note: When I tried the $300 Bose Quiet comfort 20 the store went silent. Bass was not impressive. These under $50 Sony pair are probably not as good at isolating ( a 25% less, maybe?) but they are so much cheaper at Best Buy or here, and smaller. The bass is sweet, too. For a cheap option in casual portable listening with isolation, I'd give them a try. If you're an audiophile, or listen to classical exclusively, keep looking. I hope it helps! ... show more
