  • great lens for the price
Style: Body Only
Let me say this, I don't like spending much money. But ive decided to pick up photography as a new recent hobby and after upgrading from a iPhone 11 Pro. I purchased a Sony a7c and this lens. coming from someone that knows absolutely nothing about these types of cameras and settings. I was a bit afraid spending this much Money to get into the hobby ( I don't enjoy upgrading once I get use to something so I decided to go all out at first). first off this lens is AMAZING. Focus is amazing, weight is amazing. it is a great lens for everything I throw at it. I mostly take car photography and street. After taking a few hours watching videos on this lens and how to use it. ive taken some great pictures. I lent my setup to my buddy that takes pictures professionally and he was blown away by its performance. Great lens. Don't worry about the price. You will not regret your purchase one bit. Edit: After almost 2 years with this lens, It is still my #1 lens. Every photo I have ever taken with it looks AMAZING. Super fast auto fucus on my m a7R V. Ive used it in hard rain, snow, mud, and 110 degree conditions and its never failed. If you are looking for a 35mm lens... This is the one. ... show more

  • it’s a top choice
Style: Body Only
Great combination of size / weight / image quality. I also think it just has a nice design. While I will say that the image quality is spectacular, it depends what you’re used to. My Leica APO Summicron glass legitimately blows this away, but the price differences make them non-comparable. If I had to critique it from the actual best FF 35mm in the world: - the transition area just outside the DoF looks a more like some sort of optical aberration rather than simply going out of focus - mild CA and softness visible wide open at closer ranges - mild CA in high contrast areas (think tree branches) at larger apertures - I wish it had deeper micro contrast Honestly, none of this really matters. This is what you’ll find if you go pixel peeping, which I know a lot of users of this lens will do. Ultimately, if you make any photos with this you don’t love, it will never be the lens’s fault. (Also yes I’ve seen the DXO reviews and have no idea what they’re smoki… er, doing. I currently own both lenses along with an A7RIVa and SL2, sitting in front of me, and have tested them back and forth. Multiple copies of the Leica prove consistent.) ... show more

  • My go-to lense
Style: Body Only
I have several GMasters and this is my go to! They are easy to use and focus very well. I love this wide angle lens. They are sturdy and very well built. If I had to pick one lens that I would use forever, it would be this one! I use on a Sony AIV.

  • Fast, realistic, bokehlicious
Style: Body Only
Beautiful color rendition, fast autofocus, crisp details and realistic perspective offering. Similar to 24mm GM lens that I own, however, more intimate point of view and quieter aperture. I've found myself wishing for more focal length while traveling with 24mm and street, with APSC mode not providing enough of the bokeh and appearing flat when cropped. Will be using this as main driver for now, with 24mm for landscape. ... show more

  • One of the best 35mm 1.4 lenses made. Instant Purchase!
Style: Body Only
I am a big fan of the 35mm focal length. I consider this a do it all prime lens. I purchased this lens after reading reviews about it, and it lives up to the hype. The 35mm 1.4 GM lens produces pictures with great colors, beautiful rendering and fantastic sharpness. I really don’t know how Sony managed to achieve this. I used this lens as my primary lens on a trip to Europe and it did not disappoint! The images in Venice, Italy were superb. It was especially great in low light at night to capture the beauty of Venice at night. It focused quickly and accurately under challenging light conditions on my A7R III. I’m seriously impressed! I have since sold my Zeiss Milvus 35mm 1.4 that I adapted to my Sony. The GM is far superior. If you have to buy just one lens, this is it! Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Fantastic Lens
Style: Body Only
This lens is a little more expensive than I wanted to pay for it, but it is so worth it. The auto focus (AF) is quick and nails the focus 99 percent of time. At first I didn't think I would like the aperture ring, but I find it so much easier than using the dial on the camera. Most of the time I don't have to do much post-processing of the images unless it's camera operator error when it comes to the settings. If you do street photography or portraits (I don't do much portrait shooting) this lens should be in your camera bag or better yet on your camera body. ... show more
