  • My review about a week after buying this :"}
Please note I'm writing this after finally checking the contents - which happily, are all there, including a couple of small nice things they didn't specify in the product description. And shipment was carefully packaged and quickly delivered. Thank you, Foster Camera (the vendor)! At this point, I've not yet actually tried the camera out ( have been sick), but so far am entranced. I've been eying this particular camera since it was alpha 1 or something. In the meantime, have found great information online, since I haven't used a mirrorless before. One thing I can say immediately is that the camera truly is lovely AND so light - I had to stop using my (lovely) Minolta SRT 101 because after a neck injury, it was just too heavy. This I think is very doable. Nice range of extras included with the camera and lenses. I haven't yet figured out what various red squares with velcro on them are for, unless to assemble a case??? RE the software - After e'ing the poor seller, I realized the info that would get me the software was on a brighly colored smallish piece of paper I'd so efficiently tucked in with all the other paper stuff. BTW, some folks have had problems installing - in my case, I'd been steadfastly pecking in a very long serial number that just wasn't working ....because it belonged to one of the other 3 programs included with the software suite. Just sayin'. Once I got it straight, was able to pretty efficiently download and register. More later, as I daringly actually try USing the camera but really, I'm very happy so far with the software (which I did check out), the product and accessories, as well as excellent service from the seller thus far anyway! ... show more

  • Very Impressed
I was very impressed with this kit. I did a lot of research on what was the best camera to buy for beginners and my search ended when I saw the thousands of reviews across many sites saying this was an impressive camera. There were a few harsh reviews on this bundle , which I think were pretty unwarranted considering everything that came in the kit. Once I decided that this was the camera I wanted to get, I hastily looked at Best Buy to go get it because I wanted it right then and there. But being smart, I checked out amazon just to see what options were out there. This bundle includes a lot of basically FREE stuff. When looking to buy the camera at Best Buy, the price was $648+55 dollars tax. Bringing the cost to a total of $703 dollars. FOCUS included a camera bag, two memory card binders, two back up charges as well as another battery charger separate from the one that came with the camera, a fundamental filter kit, lens cleaning brush, screen protector, hand strap, tripod, and also product keys to photo and video editing software. I don’t 100% know what that entails as I just received my camera yesterday, but nonetheless the fact that this came included really wowed me. This came with everything else that automatically comes with the camera and lens. I might even be missing mentioning what else came in the bundle because there is so much. I would recommend this kit to anybody and everybody. Even if people consider the quality of everything in the bundle not 100% up to par, it basically came at next to nothing cost. Buy the bundle people, it’s worth it. ... show more

  • Great Little Camera
I am an experienced non-professional photography enthusiast. I own two big-name high end DSLRs and an assortment of lenses, and I am known as the photo guy around my neighborhood. One of my neighbors, looking to move up from pocket cameras, asked for my help in choosing a DSLR appropriate for her. I spent a couple of evenings researching all the products available with the set of features that I thought would give great photos right away as well as the capability to move into the more sophisticated nuances of photography. As I did the research I became convinced that DSLR technology is obsolete, at least for most users--and subsequently I focused entirely on mirrorless cameras. Very quickly I zeroed in on the Sony Alpha a6000. It has plenty of sophisticated capability, works well as a point and shoot camera, and does not break the bank. It uses a 24 MP APS-C image sensor, the same size as the sensors in much more expensive DSLRs, and the largest sensor in all but the most expensive professional digital cameras. My neighbor ordered this camera based on my recommendation, and when she received it I offered to help her become familiar with all the cool features. As soon as I got the camera in my hands I loved it. I liked it so much I ordered one for myself. My DSLR has been on hiatus since I received the Sony Alpha a6000. My favorite feature is the automatic switching between the external LCD screen and the internal LCD seen through the viewfinder. As soon as you put your eye to the viewfinder the internal screen lights up and external screen goes dark. ... show more

  • Nice bundle for a good price
This bundle has most everything you need to get started, and then some. There are scores of reviews for the camera itself, so I don't need to rehash too much of that. It is a magnificent camera. The smaller body of the mirrorless camera makes a huge difference when traveling. It's simple enough for a beginner, but has all the features for the expert. Two issues that I discovered immediately were first that the lens cap has no retaining leash, so it is destined to be lost unless you buy one, and the neck strap feels like coarse sand paper. I immediately replaced it with the strap from my old camera. The mini tripod included in the bundle is way too bulky for its height. I'll never use it. I have a much more compact mini tripod which fits easily into my camera bag, and speaking of camera bags, the one included in the kit is too big for my taste. I like to travel light and a considerably smaller bag can fit the camera, 2nd lens, tripod and more. The bigger bag is still nice, but I just prefer being as compact as possible. If you're considering this camera, and you absolutely should, this is a very nice bundle, even if there are some bits you may not need. ... show more
