I have to admit that I am a longtime fan of SONOS, although I do think that I have dealt my share of constructive criticism over the years. When it comes to the SONOS MOVE, I think they have made a home run! Here is what I like: 1. It sounds amazing! Here's why - The bass is significant, even outside, without ever getting distorted. It plays really loud if you want, but also sounds well balanced at low sound levels. They did something amazing with the high-frequency and mid-range where is sounds uniform across the entire side and forward projection of the speaker, not just in the "sweet spot" in front like other speakers. It is beautifully detailed and realistic sounding. 2. It looks great. Here's why - It has the same great looks as I have come to expect from SONOS, but there is something about the material choices on this product that make it even better. It fits right in with my other SONOS speakers, while not taking up any more space than say a SONOS ONE. 3. Automatic Trueplay - it automatically adjusts its sound depending on where you place the speaker, making sure that it always sound its best. I imagine this was pretty had to do, but it works really well. I put MOVE in some pretty challenging places inside and outside, and within 20 or 30 seconds or so it just fixes itself and sounds great again! 4. The WiFi range - I took MOVE outside and began to walk all around the outside my house and into the yard pretty far away and it never lost connection. SONOS did something special here with the WiFi to make it super robust. 5. Bluetooth - even if you go some place without WiFi, you can still connect with Bluetooth. I like having that feature so that I don't have to worry if there is WiFi or not wherever I might travel. 6. It feels solid - It has a great solid and balanced feeling to it. There is an integrated handle in the back that is just part of the design. I've set it down on sand and grass and it just feels stable and balanced. 7. Stereo pair - I only have one, and with it I can fill my whole yard with incredible sound, but I like knowing that if I ever got another one, I could set them up as a stereo pair and have myself a real outdoor concert! 8. It's weather proof - you could get caught in the rain, or it could get dirty and you can just rinse it off with a hose. I plan to take good care of MOVE, but its nice to know that it has this level of protection from the elements. 9. It has voice control - just like the SONOS ONE, it has a microphones that allow you to use Alexa and Google voice assistants. That comes in handy, especially when you are outside grilling. 10. Charging base - it comes with a nice charging base, instead of it being sold as an accessory like other brands do. What I don't like: 1. Travel bag - it comes with a nice looking bag, but I question how long it will last and how much protection it will really give. I'm sure SONOS will offer a travel bag accessory at some point, but for $400, it seems like they could have included a nylon padded bag with handle and pouch for accessories. 2. USB-C charger - it is great that it comes with a nice charging base, but if they made the charger a detachable USB-C charger, then you could more easily take it with you when you travel. I'm sure SONOS will probably sell a USB-C charger accessory at some point, but again, for $400, I think this could have been included. Overall, this is one fantastic product. I would say that this is easily the best SONOS product they have ever made. I just love having a" truly wireless" wireless speaker!

This speaker breaks the mold in terms of portable WiFi/Bluetooth speakers. You can easily fill a room (or two) with loud, clear sound. The handle is wide and deep enough for easy, comfortable carrying, and the included cradle is convenient for charging. It is bigger and less portable than other less expensive portable Bluetooth speakers, but most others don't have WiFi, and can't come close to the sound quality. For portability around the house, it doesn't really matter - the Move and can be conveniently moved from room to room, or to the yard, patio, pool, etc. Traveling beyond the home is where the Move becomes a bit inconvenient; however, this is mostly remedied if you use the carrying case (sold separately), which offers decent protection and a nice carrying handle. I haven't tested the max battery life from one charge, but I've had this off its cradle playing music for about 8 hours without it running out of power. I use Alexa with it, which sometimes gets annoying playing music because Alexa will speak over the initial 5 or so seconds of the first song you try to play. Typically, I ask Alexa to start the song over. Also, the microphones on top don't seem as sensitive as the Amazon Echo (2nd gen) - I find myself having to yell at the Move from my kitchen about 15 feet away, whereas the Amazon Echo could pick up my "indoor voice" from the same distance. Despite the minor Alexa annoyances, which are easily worked around, this is a fantastic speaker - I use it in my office, on my deck, in the bathroom while I'm showering (it's IP56 rated - another plus), for podcasts, news, and music. It will soon be taking a trip to the beach with me (I recommend purchasing the carrying case - see above). Highly recommended. Update (7/14/2020): I’ve been reading a lot of reviews complaining that people can’t connect to the Move via Bluetooth. To initially connect to the Move via Bluetooth, you have to be connected to the same LAN (via WiFi) as the Move. Once the Move recognizes your device then you can connect via Bluetooth off WiFi. (The Move remembers the last 6 devices connected to it via Bluetooth). This is in the manual (RTFM) and I consider it a feature, as opposed to a limitation, since this prohibits random people from connecting to your Move and playing whatever they want. If, for example, you have more than 6 friends at the beach who all want to take turns connecting to your Move then some of them are out of luck. I’ve never been in a situation where a crowd of people wants to take turns connecting to my Move, so perhaps my perspective is limited, but my imagination isn’t, so I imagine I would allow as many as I could play music, and those that couldn’t directly connect could use someone else’s device.

I purchased one these for convenience during power outages. It is one of Sonos better stand alone or paired speakers. The selling features for me were: 1) portable, 2) rechargeable battery, 3) acceptable sound quality, 4) both 802.11 and Bluetooth. This works well as a stand alone speaker. I may pick up a couple more for kitchen, office or bedrooms. The major caveat is that Move cannot be used as surrounds. Not a big deal for me as I have a couple of Play 1 surrounds anyway. As I said, the purchase for me was flexible trade off for use during extended power outages. If Move could be paired as surrounds I would do it for my existing Sonos setup in a media den (14 x 18 ft). Move can also fill a larger room with sound on its own, e.g., an 18 x 40 ft room with vaulted ceiling. Given the choice between a Play 5 and Move, I would choose the Move for the added flexibility, rechargeable battery, and weather and drop resistance. While this speaker cannot be used as surrounds it can be grouped. I placed it in center rear, on a table against a window and grouped with a Playbase + two Play 1 surrounds. I had to lower the Move volume a bit since it's a powerful speaker with some push and punch on its own that was almost overwhelming for the rest of the group with all speakers at the same volume level. It's a nice add on in the group and I may keep it there in center rear, or group one more along the sides or up front on far left and right. Granted, Sonos will never approach audiophile high end high definition quality, but their speakers do offer a nice compromise for a lifestyle product niche. I nearly gave up on Sonos a couple years ago due to the numerous problems they experienced in 2017 and 2018. I've had their products for many years, almost since inception, along with a few other audio solutions of either less or far better and much more expensive quality. Some additional caveats for Sonos systems in general: 1) A Sonos account and internet connection are required for speaker setup, configuration and updates 2) Personal media library locally hosted requires SMB v1 (a deprecated protocol rife with security concerns) 3) No casting, at least not easily 4) App controllers need to be on the same network as speakers; unless one has advanced networking skills 5) Controllers for Windows and MacOS have limited functionality, no officially supported 'Nix' controller 6) not DLNA friendly, more like Sonos is DLNA unfriendly

SONOS Move are incredibly powerful high-fidelity speakers with great capability and performance. I only wish I had known these few things before a painful learning curve. Much of this has probably already been said here, but here’s my take. 1. SONOS speakers are meant to be played via streaming over WI-FI. What that means is, using the SONOS app you select all of your streaming services that you subscribe to (Amazon Music, Apple, Spotify, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, etc.) and your voice assistance service (eg. Alexa) if you wish and the speakers are controlled through the app. Yes, the speakers themselves have volume control and the standard pause, skip and back features. Note, no tuning of balance, treble or bass except through the app when connected through WI-FI. Edit: note that SONOS Move has an auto tuning feature available when you leave it in listening mode. 2. You can stream a Bluetooth enable device to the SONOS Move speaker, but you are limited to playing it through one speaker because unlike JBL, the speakers themselves do not connect to one another over Bluetooth. Again, this is a WI-FI over Bluetooth preferential that SONOS makes. 3. Airplay2 from an iPhone will automatically make the SONOS Move speakers as an option to play your Apple Music to. That’s great because then you get the benefit of using the stereo pair when using two SONOS Move speakers, which you don’t over Bluetooth. Confused yet? 4. The SONOS app is actually VERY EASY to use even though you need to connect your streaming services initially in the app. There is EQ and Volume control through the app as well as a number of settings and tutorials even. At first I was disappointed with some of these findings that I had to uncover on my own. And I almost packed them up for return. But after using them for the last 48-hours and enjoying the portability and amazing sound details, I’m thinking I’m keeping the pair of speakers. I like how they feel, sound and look. Note: Initially I wanted speakers to play records on my Bluetooth turntable. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of the SONOS Move speakers not connecting to one another via Bluetooth, only one speaker can be connected to my turntable. However, the sound quality from the one speaker is so amazing that it seriously doesn’t even matter - get over it stereo loving self.

Finally, at long last.....we finally have an outdoor, portable, Bluetooth/wifi Sonos speaker offering. I have Sonos products all over my house, so I will admit I already like their products and I am very familiar with them. This speaker fits perfectly into their lineup for people who want to be able to bring Sonos away from home wifi zones. I'll make this review short and sweet. This speaker is not small....it's probably about twice the volume of a Play One. It's also not light, but it comes with a very well-designed handle. The way I think of this speaker is a new and improved Play 3 that happens to be mobile and battery operated. It has a front-facing driver that sounds very nice and is plenty loud for my taste. It can be paired to another Move speaker if you have a large deck and you don't want to hardwire a stereo setup. What I do with mine is the perfect application, in my opinion. I leave the handy and well-executed charging station where I would have placed a Play 3 in my house. It will operate exactly the same as your other Sonos speaker. When I'm going to use it outside, I simply pick it up and take it with me. The internal wifi extenders means I never have to use Bluetooth when I'm anywhere near my house. I use this on my deck. If I forget to bring it in at night, it will have no issues with a rain storm, a drop into the pool, or a water gun blast. Pros: - Solid speaker loudness and tone. It's not as good as a Play 5, but as good or slightly better than the Play One. - Very well built. - Charging station is nicely done and can remain in a convenient location. - Can be charged with any USB-C plug as well. - 10 hour battery life at 50% volume. Cons: - Price. This is not an inexpensive speaker. - Size and weight. I don't take this to the beach with me. It's a little too big for that and I wouldn't want to risk something of this value at the beach. - It's new, so there are not any aftermarket wall or deck mounts being made yet. I am waiting for a wall-mount for my deck where I can just set it down out of the way.

Ok, I have had it just for a couple of weeks. Sound is great & rich bass. The Sonos app is clunky at best. I usually just use the Amazon or Apple Music app from my phone and use Airplay. The Alexa function is good and I do on occasion just tell it to play one of my playlists. But then I can't use my apple watch to skip or change the volume like I can when using the app from the phone. I like that better than telling Alex to skip or change volume. The charging base ring is great as well as the handle to carry it around. Things they need to change: Why is the volume down & up labeled the same. Duh! Why didn't they just use a - & + sign instead! The should have added a FF << and >> RR button on the top as well. Swipe does not work as well. The Power, Mode button and Join button should all be in the front. I would put them along the bottom of the speaker. From left to right I would put the Power Button, Join Button, then mode button. I should not have to turn it around to get at these! I will update when I have it for a longer period of time.

I bought this Sonos speaker and my whole system fully expecting to spend the afternoon arguing with cables, instructions, and possibly my own sanity. Spoiler: none of that happened. Setup was so easy, I thought I did it wrong. I plugged it in, tapped a few buttons, and suddenly my living room sounded like a VIP section I’m definitely not cool enough to be in. Even my WiFi behaved, which never happens. Sonos must use wizard magic or something. The sound? Incredible. Crisp highs, deep bass, and just loud enough that my neighbors now know my entire playlist, including the songs I pretend not to like and dont even get me started on how Top Gun: Maverick sounds!!. My favorite part is how it connects every room. I can walk from the kitchen to the bathroom like I’m doing my own stadium tour. My dog didn’t sign up for this concert, but he’s fully committed now. If you want a stereo system that sounds amazing and makes you feel smarter than you actually are, Sonos is it. 10/10 would recommend — even if you only buy it to flex on guests when they ask, “Wait… how’d you set this up so fast?”

I have only had this speaker for several days now, but have been so impressed with it I couldn't wait to write a review. The first night I had it, I took it to a bar where we were sitting outside, this thing sounded so good it was attracting positive attention from every one within earshot. I only use it as a Bluetooth speaker, so I cannot attest to it's Wi-Fi, or AI assistant capabilities. It will not work right out of the box and must be set-up through the Sonos app which is not a big deal and the app works very well. Someone wrote in another review that you can adjust the bass and treble through the app, but I did not see it and I looked everywhere. That being said, the speaker sounded perfectly balanced without making any adjustments! Bluetooth connectivity works great and my iPod synced with it immediately. It comes with a bag that looks great and should do just fine to provide some protection against scratches. The build quality is great, this thing is built like a tank! The charging base works every time, even if the speaker is not perfectly placed. I cannot say enough about how good this speaker sounds!! If there was anything that I could say about it that I don't like, it would be all the funny noises it makes when you touch any of the buttons. I really don't need to hear sounds confirming that I am adjusting the volume up or down.
