  • Product lacked markings
Color: Washed Black
Overall the nightstands are nice. The instructions are not. Only two pieces where marked with the letters associated with the assembly in the instruction manual. My grandson spent a lot of time figuring out which piece to use for the assembly. Totally unacceptable. And why would you provide the rails with color codes and not address them for the installation. That would be helpful in lieu of looking at the picture and seeing how they should be installed. After spending a while looking at the diagram for the rails I figured out my grandson had four of them incorrectly installed. After correcting this mixup, l was able to install the drawers and set them up in my room. Overall for the price they are good and the height is much better then the ones I had. With exception to the instructions I like these nightstands. ... show more

  • Great Product, Instructions, and Manufacturer!
Color: White
I have been wanting new night stands for awhile but have been nervous to order because I wanted to be sure I could assemble them myself and that they were decent quality. I gambled on these and I am so glad I did. I bought 2 Used-Like New from Amazon. One was absolutely perfect and went together pretty easy in about an hour. I don't have much experience with assembly of such items but this item was easy enough I didn't get stressed out. I just took the time to lay out all the parts and get familiar with them before assembly, as most of parts are not marked but the instructions are fairly clear. It is pretty sturdy once fully assembled and the drawers open and close smoothly. The second one wasn't as well packaged as the first and had a broken plastic wheel for one of the drawers and the top shelf of the night stand had predone holes that were incorrect on one side. I wasn't worried about it, as I was assured by an Amazon Rep before my purchase that I would have the same warranty as if I bought it new from PrePac Manufacturing. This did not end up being the case. Amazon will replace the whole item, but not parts and the warranty with the manufacturer is void since I bought used from an Amazon Warehouse. Amazon ended up giving me a credit for my trouble, which was much appreciated as I figure I would attempt to drill new holes and fix it myself, but I went ahead and called the manufacturer number on the instruction booklet. They had amazing customer service, taking down the parts I needed and getting them shipped to me at no cost whatsoever as a courtesy. I got the parts a week later and now the second one is perfect too! I am so pleased with these nightstands and my experience overall. PrePac Manufacturing gets 5 stars from me and Amazon made it right with me too, as always! ... show more

  • Nightstand
Color: Espresso
Just put this together today and it turned out great! I purchased espresso and although more brown than I expected it is very pretty. Directions pictures with limited written. Simple written directions.. Directions in 3 languages. Good height and width. Wood is soft so be careful . I made one screw too tight and it marred the wood but is not too Conspicuous. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Better than expected
Color: Espresso
I was very pleased with this little side table. Very sturdy and looks more expensive than it was. The only problem we had was it was a little tricky assembling, as the instructions were unclear and the parts weren't labeled. Also, there were four screws missing that were needed to assemble the drawers, but they were easily found at the hardware store and replaced. ... show more

  • Looks nice but materials are kind of flimsy
Color: Black
Overall I do like the product, it fits in my apartment well, but some of the materials are low quality. The customer service is good, mine came without the rails for the drawers which is lame but it took maybe five minutes on the phone with a rep to get replacement rails shipped and they arrived within a few days which was shocking considering most customer service these days is awful. When putting one of the drawers together I heard a creaking sound and noticed the wood was splitting while putting in a screw, drowned it in superglue to push it back together, fine, lame but fixable. Then the other drawer when I was tightening one of the small zinc cams the metal just ripped off which would be cool if I was some kind of roid monster but I have a desk job and get zero exercise, a six year old could beat me in arm wrestling, so it's not like I applied excessive force. ... show more

  • Hard to put together
Color: White
It's nice and sturdy but man did it take a while to put together. I consider myself pretty good at putting together furniture but this little table had soooo many parts and it is heavy! It's worth the hassle in the end because it's nice when it's done.

  • Quality night stands at a great price
Color: Cherry
We were in need of two cherry night stands to match our antique ball and claw dressers to complete the furniture in our bedroom of our new home. We searched all the local used furniture outlets and came up empty. I did a search on Amazon and found these DIY night stands in cherry. The color was perfect and assembly a no brainer. Great price and very attentive customer service. I needed a part for one of the two, called their support line and received the replacement part at lightening speed, no questions asked. Highly recommended company. ... show more

  • Instructions Are Poor, I've seen better from China
Color: Espresso
While the nightstand was supposedly manufactured in Canada, the primarily pictorial instructions are very poor. None of the parts are labeled with the designations that are in the pictures, ie, D2, D3, etc,so you have to compare each part to the picture to determine which piece goes where. Assembly of the drawers with the slides was unnecessarily challenging. It took 2.5 hours to assemble something that should have gone together in less than an hour. The end result is nice after lots of frustration. ... show more

  • Nice looking piece, simple to put together
Color: Black
I was very skeptical about buying this item because of all the negative reviews on here. I looked at tons of other nightstands and couldn't really find anything that even came close to this. The big selling point for me was the two drawers and the cubby-hole. The cubby-hole is perfect for my 15" laptop and it's part of the main reason I wanted this particular nightstand. According to the reviews on here people have stated that they have gotten beaten up and missing boards to missing screws. My experience was just the opposite. I got everything I needed and all the screws I needed with a few left over. Before I began I went over every screw to make sure I had the same amount as the instruction booklet stated. Also apparently mine was manufactured quite recently as it arrived with some sawdust from the underside of the boards. This didn't really bother me, but I did take notice that it was made quite recently. I found that a bit refreshing as it hadn't been sitting on some shelf in a warehouse for long. I also didn't see any damage to the black parts of the stand. A lot of people said they end up with nicked boards. Mine seemed fine. When I finished I didn't even bother using the scratch marker they provided. As for setting it up I thought the directions were very clear and detailed. Others have stated that it's extremely hard to understand. I didn't have that difficulty. In fact I was able to get the nightstand together within an hour. The drawings they provide in the booklet are your standard drafting type of images. If you're having trouble deciphering those types of images. The best suggestion I can give you is to start with one board on the drawing, locate it in your pile, and then line up the circles on the drawing to the holes in the board. This made it very simple and a lot less frustrating when it came to piecing it together. For most screws I started them off with a screwdriver and then screwed them into place with a drill. I recommend using a drill as it does make it a bit easier and less tedious. The only thing I seemed to have a problem with is the drawers. I think I may have put them together wrong or slightly off. Although they do look correct to me. However, when I pushed them into the drawer slider the top half of the drawer fits snug against the front of the stand while the lower part of the drawer seems to be further away from the front of the nightstand. Not sure if that makes sense but it looks off if you view it from the side. You can also see some of the unpainted wood from that angle. Both drawers ended up that way and they open up on a upward slope. This is most likely my error as I was a bit tired by the time I got around to the drawers. Right now I'm not too worried about it. I can go back later and see what I did wrong, but I thought I would mention that I did seem to have a bit of an issue. When I figure out what went wrong I'll come back and update this review. For the moment I'm giving the nightstand four stars for the drawer mishap even though it's not really that big of a deal for me. ... show more

  • Excellent workmanship, easy assembly, good instructions, high quality.
Color: Espresso
The quality of workmanship is excellent, and it assembles quite easily. Some folks have complained about the instructions, but I found them to be quite good and fully adequate. Based on other reviews, my first step was to start labeling the pieces with masking tape and a marker. But after about 2 pieces, I realized I was wasting my time. There was no doubt about the identity of each piece, if you look at the diagrams carefully. In fact, the one time I nearly did something wrong, I paused to study the instructions, and the details of the diagram showed the subtle differences in the hole patterns in the board, causing me to flip the piece and continue without further incident. So, just go slowly and carefully on your first one, look at the diagrams carefully until you're sure you have the correct parts laid out in the correct orientation, and you shouldn't have a bit of trouble. I bought two, and the second was short some of the nails used on the back cardboard. No big deal for me, but it might be aggravating for someone without 30 years of accumulated miscellaneous hardware. There were extra of those clever disk doohickeys in both of mine. All in all, I was perfectly satisfied with the contents. Note also that the packaging was excellent, and the parts did not have abraded surfaces from vibration in shipping. I found the tiniest chip in the edge of one of bottom front pieces, and simply colored it in with a dark brown sharpie, and the little white eye-catcher promptly disappeared. Note that you have a choice of bottom effects, if you don't like the gentle arc and prefer something a little more complex. (I like the simplicity of the arc.) I'm not a big fan of particle board furniture, but I needed a temporary solution and didn't want to spend a lot for something I might not keep for more than a couple of years. After assembling these, I find that I like them better than most of the $300+ nightstands I looked at in furniture stores. The drawer hardware is better than many of those units (some just had plastic slides). The overall value of these (looks and utility divided by cost) is incredibly high. Thus, I'm not only pleased that I gambled on these, but I'm also expecting to keep them indefinitely. When I do buy an entire new bedroom set, complete with matching nightstands, these will go into a spare room. I won't throw them away or sell them. They're just too nice. BTW, I was concerned about height, width, depth, drawer depth, etc., and these are just about ideal for my situation. I encourage you to take the published measurements and ensure they'll be appropriate for your bed height, wall space, etc. The only modification I made was to drill a 1" hole in the back of each of the shelf sections (and color the edges with that sharpie marker) in order to feed electric cords through. That was easy to do post-assembly, but you have to be careful with the drill, of course, moving it very slowly into and out of position. Cut gradually, gently through, or you may make a ragged mess. (It's often best to cut partway through, then jump to the other side and finish. This keeps you from busting outward the last layer of material.) In summary, this nightstand is well designed, easy to assemble, and is high quality in every discernible way. It looks good, functions well, and is an outstanding value for the price. No regrets whatsoever in buying. ... show more
