  • Lots of effects, would buy again.
This comes with a power adapter, you do NOT need to buy another one. Great device, small form factor, easy to setup. I loaded the PC app just to check for firmware updates - there were none. Since then I've only used the device itself. If you're running this through a guitar amp be sure to turn off the reverb on pretty much every preset - it detracts from the settings itself. ... show more

  • This thing is great.
I love Amp modeling. I've not used my real Amp in over a year now. Ever since I discovered how cool Amp modeling is, I haven't gone back. My main pedal is a Pod Go. I love the Pod Go. I've bought a few other cheap pedals. One is just for Acoustic guitar and the other is a really small portable Amp modeler. I guess they're all portable. This one is pretty small but it's packed with cool sounds. With my Pod Go I erased all the factory presets and replaced them with patches that I purchased online. I obviously made up some of my own patches too but it's cool to just buy some and load them up. This pedal has some cool factory presets. I mainly bought it so when I'm jamming with my friends I have another pedal ready to go. I'm definitely going to use this next time and let my buddy use the Pod Go. I just got it today and planned on spending a few minutes learning the functions. I ended up learning a little but basically just jamming on the presets for a few hours. It definitely has some control options. I like that it has a built-in foot switch for volume or Wah. I'm really impressed with this little pedal. It's definitely worth what they're asking. I got mine on sale. I need to look into it more but I can tell it's a great pedal for my needs. I would absolutely use this in a live setting. I love that you can plug headphones into Amp modelers and have a really good guitar sound. I know tjere always going to be people that want to use amps but Amp modeling is just going to keep getting more popular IMO. So if you're new to it, definitely try this pedal. I don't think you will be disappointed. If you're unsure, watch YouTube videos. Thats what I did for my first pedal. It was the Pod Go. I wanted something affordable but professional. I think this pedal is definitely good for a live band setting also though. ... show more

  • This thing is BONKERS!!!
Well they finally got the FIZZZ out of the digital domain...these sounds are really nice. Yes, you will probably have to tweak Reverb and Delay and Volume on most of the presets to make them usable, but what a small thing to have to do for all the functionality you get! Very nice sounds, very good OD presets. I don't do Rip Yer Face Off distortion so I just ignore all those super high gain presets (or, better yet, just turn the volumes to 0 on the ones you don't need). The Ambient presets are very nice. Ok, so I've found ONE problem....on BOTH Chorus presets (Chorus A and Chorus B) the RATE fader is stuck on 0.5Hz...if you set it to any other value, the moment you leave the MOD Block, or even click on the MOD Block, it reverts back to 0.5Hz. This kinda makes the chorus unusable (for me, anyway).... I hope they fix that as it has a decent chorus if you can set the RATE where you want it...otherwise...sounds like yer swimming. GREAT JOB, SONICAKE!!!! P.S.try finding another multi effects pedal near this price that lets you MOVE any effects to any point you want in the chain....Wow.... ... show more

  • Lot's of good sounds, very few instructions
I am a guy who has taken up guitar late in life and I know very little about effects pedals,so I decided to buy the Sonicake Matribox to cover all the bases. I figure it's got lots of presets. In the beginning I'll just find a few that I like and just switch between them with the foot switches. Seems like an easy thing to do, right? It may actually be possible, but Sonicake is sure as hell not going to tell you how to do it. The instruction card that comes with it only shows basic controls. The manual goes into somewhat more detail but switching between any two presets on the fly is not a subject that they cover. Did they just not think that someone buying an inexpensive multi effects pedal might want to use it without setting up effect chains right away? A 10-15 minute video of how to use this on their website would go a long way ... show more

  • Super Awesome if You Use Your Own Impulse Response
This little thing is killer! I mostly play at home with headphones and I like lots of different sounds. You can get some absolutely AMAZING tones out of this unit. The factory IRs that are on it sound great clean, but once you step up the gain to 80s hair metal and above, you should check out Ola Englund's free IR and load it to one of the user IR slots from your computer. It can do well with a powered speaker or an amp with a good effects loop. I don't recommend plugging it into the front of an amp (obviously with the cab sim OFF) as it has this high-mid frequency honk type sound thats hard to mix out of it on the amp. I haven't noticed this issue with a powered PA speaker or line direct to a mixer or even USB in. Overall, if you just goof around at home or need a little practice or small gig board without complex effect changes within songs, this thing is hard to beat. Toss it in a gig bag with a couple cables and you have yourself a usable minimalist rig with HUGE sounds. I don't recommend touring with it or playing shows with it wearing boots. If you're actually playing shows and touring, I'd go with the Valeton GP-200. This is definitely worth the money and I'd recommend this to anyone. ... show more

  • All the effects needed for a great price
My kid is a talented musician playing sax & guitar. He prefers acoustic guitars over pure electric for the most part. This pedal along with a true acoustic amp has been great for abundantly providing all the effects he needed for his type of songs. The pedal has been well reviewed online and has lived up to the recommendations. Certainly pros or major enthusiasts may be better off with multiple pedals on a board, but we were looking for something more simplistic yet rich with features. This multi-effects pedal serves our purpose well. The build is solid. The input/outputs work well. ... show more
