Top Amazon Reviews

  • Top notch effect unit. Not cheap Top notch effect unit. Not cheap
I've owned this for years now so I guess I may as well write a review. The effects are excellent across the board, and quite diverse. You have the obvious stuff like delays, modulation, reverbs and pitch effects (for which it is named) but also some unexpected stuff like synths, distortions, eq and some "utility" algorithms. The UI throws people off at first, because Eventide kinda went their own way with this pedal. It does not really remind me of the UI of any other manufacturer's effects and takes some learning. But there's a logic to what they've done, and there's a ton of versatility. You can program buttons and knobs, what happens when you push knobs down, set up snapshots, use expression pedals, MIDI and so on. Very much a performance tool if you take the time (quite a bit of time, I would say) to learn everything. But it's also in many ways a viable studio tool as well. Extraordinarily versatile IO and routing. And it's filled with small, impressive touches. For example there are hardware relays connecting inputs to outputs if you want. This means you can have "true bypass" if that's your thing. But it also has some unexpected side-effects like passing audio through when it is off or first booting up. So if you have a brief power failure you still get signal through while the unit is booting up. I use it with a tonex which starts almost instantly, so I am up and playing in seconds. Also, strangely, one time (on a fairly early firmware) I had the pedal crash. And somehow the pedal knew it had crashed(?) and it just opened up the relays. I no longer had effects and could not interact with the UI, but at least I had sound flowing through. I cycled the power while I was playing and I doubt anybody noticed anything was amiss. Exceedingly impressive. And also, finally, Eventide has continued to offer support, fixing bugs and even pushing new algorithms out, year after year. It's a better unit now than when I bought it. I paid about $100 less than the current price and even that was quite expensive for a effects unit with just two effects at a time, but at this point I consider it money well spent. ... show more

  • Infinite Dual Stereo FX Infinite Dual Stereo FX
This pedal eats inspiration and craps creativity. The price seems high for “one” pedal, but don’t be fooled, this is 2 of EVERY effect with a great degree of routing flexibility that makes it similar to a mixer too. Incredible Eventide sound quality, crisp screen interface, military-grade build durability, tons and tons of midi control parameters, and a very well thought out UI that makes it intuitively easy to start working with and yet it can go as deep as you want to take it. So grab your scuba suit and dive in. One thing I wish it had considering the price tag however is audio over usb like the Elektron Analog Heat +FX. Also, shout out to Crazy Dave’s Music store, those guys rock. ... show more

  • Eventide is a good outfit
I'm a fan of Eventide, their products are a little pricey, but you almost always get more. Their staff, and other contributors, have developed many complex algorithms for their effects processors. Some of their early processors were the part of the defining sound of many famous artists.

  • Need to be a NASA Engineer to Use It.
I'm sure this is a great guitar effects processor and I can see the potential. I'm not an engineer for NASA and that seems to be a requirement to figure this pedal out. Research online? Everyone has an opinion and a way to go about figuring out this pedal and they're all frustratingly different. I bought this pedal specifically for the Balance channel that is factory programmed for EVH's Van Hagar sound. I was a kid on Christmas morning when I first plugged it in, thinking I was going to have the EVH sound through my Marshall amp. All settings were checked, everything verified...... fired it up and strummed the strings..... what came out was a Folk Country twang of a guitar sound. I was so disappointed. Weeks of research later, I was no further with it and it grew increasingly complex to sort it out. I boxed it and went back to my old set up. I'm going back to old school pedals as I continue to chase Eddie's tone. ... show more

  • The H90 is the future.
I'm already using it on my pedalboard. It has all of the classic algorithms you loved about the H9 and now has the newest algorithms that Eventide now offers. Definitely worth the upgrade. MIDI integration is straightforward and easy to learn (if you already know how to use MIDI on your pedalboard, that is). ... show more

  • It is an effects pedal factory.
This is an effects pedal factory on your board. Pretty much anything you can imagine can be done with the H90, including with various routing options and customization of even very discrete parameters as well as controls. Any pedal you may want can basically be done with the H90. It is not cheap, but is far cheaper than getting all the pedals that you can make with this thing. And a guitar rig is just one of many contexts for its use. It is one of the best values for music gear ever released. ... show more

  • Flexible. Lots of I/O. Stereo. Limited to existing algo's
First off, this IS a very expensive effects pedals. This kind of investment can get you alot of separates if you were building a dedicated board. That said, you get a huge array of Eventide effects in a tidy, great looking, and great sounding dual effects pedals. The software interface is clearly a must-have, to get the most out of this unit. I'm not sure if the effect algorithms are true one to one copies of the Eventide effects found in their other hardware, but it's good enough to use live or in studio. On the other hand, it isn't intuitive to use. I can see where some folks would be disappointed in some ways. For instance, you can't easily just go into the the effects settings and pick a flanger on one side and fuzz in the other, and/or flip the order. It's all based on whatever pre-existing algo's they have available and then being able to tweak those to your liking. It would functionally be much easier to just have the effects list available when creating your own presets, and being able to start with a clean slate if so desired. Also, it would've been nice to have an IR cab or 2 available at the output. If it did, this could potentially become a self contained unit, allowing for a nice travel piece of kit. Seeing that Eventide has started selling individual effects pedals, I hope some of those new algo's end up here. For now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but....We'll see. ... show more
