I believe most people use these in their kitchens and/or cabinets, but I purposely bought them to use on the top of 2 chest dressers to create a double layer to hold items like hair products, jewelry dishes, cable box, table lamp, etc and still be able to store smaller items and papers under the shelf. The expandable racks worked for our purpose but the legs on one rack didn't align straight. The hole for the screw and the leg didn't line up so I had to insert it with one leg flared outward. You Can see in the photo its the left side of the second shelf where I had the issue. I purchased these for my mom while I was visiting from out of state to organize her shelves. Finally making the most of my cabinet space! I was looking for a shelf solution because I have very limited storage in my kitchen. I tried other brands, but they either didn’t fit, didn’t use the full space, or left awkward gaps where the feet took up room or where the shelf dipped in the middle when expanded. Speaking from experience, measure the inside of your cabinets carefully. I almost got the 12-inch version, and that would have been just a little too deep.
