  • Interesting and educational for first time robot builders!
Color: Yellow
The parts are easy to assemble once freed from their plastic template. A key reminder: you will need a cutting tool to remove parts from their templates. A wire cutter was recommended however a small pair of scissors and a nail clipper works well as a substitute. What’s the nail clipper for you ask. Once the parts are cut from their template after using the scissors, you might see some nubs of extra plastic of each part. The nail clippers (small size works well) can help to trim off the the excess plastic for a cleaner assembly look. When building the motor housing (small motor already included no assembly required) take your time to review the instructions and do exactly what it says. The booklet of instructions is picture oriented and is well illustrated for assembling each section. Parents, this is great way to assist your child when building the motor housing section in case the kids ask for help. There are 13 different styles of robots and instructions are included for each. There is also a battery optional component for substituting the solar panel robot head to power motor. Don’t worry the instructions explain this in detail. The solar panel can be powered by a 50w halogen bulb by the way if you want to test the build of the motor housing once the robot head is attached and wires are firmly connected. What I like about this kit is the easy assembly and minimal tool requirements to work. Be sure to use the preprinted sticky labels with pictures of parts for placement on the plastic baggies also included. These plastic bags help keep your parts organized before and while you build. There’s no need for too much prep. Open the package and jump in. It’s a marvelous project for any home and will keep you and your kids entertained for hours. Cheers! -Josh S. ... show more

  • Doesn't work Bad Solar panel, Terrible directions, NOT FOR 8 YEAR OLDS
Color: Golden Silver
I seriously think someone is padding the ratings on this toy. After digging deeper into the rating I wish I'd never bought this thing. I bought this for my grandson Christmas. Now that he has it the solar panel is no good. It will not collect enough power to keep the gears moving in the gear box. The directions are nothing but hard to follow diagrams that are hard for an adult to follow. I don't see how this is marketed to a child. The first thing they tell you to do is cut out all the pieces and sort them into the bags provided. DON'T DO THIS! Once the parts are removed from the trays there's no way to know which part is which. It's easier to pop them from the trays as you need them. Although I wouldn't recommend you even waste your money on this toy. I wish I could get a refund. Unfortunately I did my Christmas shopping in July. ... show more
