  • Very cool projects
Color: White-blue
The media could not be loaded. This is a really nice little kit. Load of pieces to make 13 different solar powered robots. I'm working on recording a build-process video at the moment, too. The robot on the front of the box is very similar to one made by Discovery that costs more than this kit on its own. Good deal! Plastic is pretty solid. Definitely need some flush-clippers to take it to pieces. It's going to be difficult for younger kids, for sure. Probably be good for ages 10 and up, though. Will be taking this to my STEM program for upper elementary students. Directions are well documented. See the pictures I attached for an example. The directions are pretty easy to follow and the pictures are great. Should be a cinch for anyone used to building a model kit. So far, I've started on the crab walker, and it is going together really well. I'll update this review with the video once I'm finished editing! ... show more

I purchased this as a surprise for my 9 yr old grandson. He and his dad worked on putting it together and loved it. He asked if there were any more?

  • Many Different Options
Color: Gray-orange
You have the option of building 14 different kinds of robots from this one kit. So, you could build one a day for 2 weeks before you have built them all. I put this together with my two grandsons. The package says 10 and up but I think for 10 to 13 year olds there should be some adult supervision. Overall things went pretty smooth. Lots of little stickers. If you were a parent in the 1990's think TMNT stickers. That was the worst part, putting on little stickers. But you could get by without them if you have big fingers and the kids do not have the dexterity to put them on. It was fun and did not take us long time once we figured out the process. No written instructions just lots and lots of pictures. Once you have the power plant and drive train built you do not have to take them apart to build the other robots, those are used for all of the robots along with the head. Our lamps were not enough to power the robot but a battery is provided to run the robot with. We are going to try it out in the sun tomorrow. ... show more

  • GEAR BOX CORRECTION
Color: Gray-orange
This is a great toy but I wanted to advise I had to open the connecting box cavity up by .005" once I did this the gear box was no longer in a bind. ( Part C5 in relation to A11). I dont think all of these come like that but mine did and from what I gathered a few others have as well. no big deal. its plastics and easy to correct. ... show more

  • Great STEM project and it never gets boring with the 13 different robots.
Color: Gray-orange
The gearbox and robot need some time to build. When I did finish the gearbox and went to test it the box it did not work so I had to take it apart and start over, making sure the gears were all touching, it worked! Then when I finished my first robot it did not work in full sunlight . So I took everything out and redid it fine tuning it and went out it still did not work so later I found out that the solar panel is not strong enough. So I had to hook the wires up to a battery then it worked! But after I hooked it to the battery my little brother got very exited to see it work and played with it all day then the next day he wanted to build a new one so I helped and I also like that is has 13 different robots to build so you would never become bored. All in all a great STEM project and fun way to spend your time building and playing with the 13 different robots, but I would make sure I have a battery and everything is perfect. ... show more
