Size:10, 24 & 48-Inch The SOLA x Pro box beam level set offers strong, ergonomic aluminum profiles (890 g/m strength) with 2 Shock-absorbing end caps to protect the level in case of a fall or shock. Set includes 3 levels: 10", 24" And 48" X pro Series. End caps are equipped with an anti-slip surface, allowing for convenient positioning and a secure grip to the measuring surface. The break-resistant acrylic block focus vial with 60% magnification also offer a luminous backing for low light conditions. The vial fluid is not affected by electricity and will not fade under sunlight. Accuracy of the level: ≤0.5 mm/m (0.029°). made in Austria.

I've been a general contractor and residential remodeler for 20 years. I've used lots of cheaper levels. Stanley, Johnson, Empire. I see the complaints about these being thin and light. Frankly, I see that as an advantage in most situations. No problem for framing, doors and widows, tile, fixtures, cabinets. I don't use them for masonary work but thats about it. Super easy to read. I ordered this level because I was intrigued by the vial design; I install vinyl windows and sliding doors in new construction houses, so contract margins demand a certain economy of time in order to earn good pay. I am pleased to say that the 10" level installed five small windows today with landmark speed and accuracy- the magnified vial with the unique stripes was not only easy for me to read at arm's length, but also for my partner on the other side of the glass. We didn't even need to call pins or screw placement back and forth! My next Sola levels will be from the Big Red line, and I look forward to replacing all of my Empire levels in due time. ... show more

    • Buy Sola over Stabila Type 80
Size: 10-Inch
Stabila Type 80 has paint finish issues where the top (especially) and bottom surfaces aren't flat. The Sola is flat, even though the surfaces aren't milled like the Big Red series. The Sola 60% vials are much easier to read and don't have off-angle viewing issues like square Stabila top vials. Overall build on both is top notch otherwise but the Sola end caps fit tighter than the Stabila. The top vial does glow but needs sun or incandescent, a LED flashlight is ineffective. ... show more

These levels are really nice. Super easy to read. Light weight. No complaints. They aren't cheap but in this case it appears you get what you pay for though.

I was going back and forth between the X Pro and the Big Red but decided on the X Pro. On the X Pro, the viles are very nice and easy to read but the rest of the design, not so exciting. The body is a thin walled aluminum tube and the ends are hard plastic. On most levels, even cheap ones, the bottom is machined. On the X Pro, it's the same aluminum tube all around. I can't image it being too long before the bottom surface acquired a dent that affected the accuracy. Returned it. ... show more
