  • Surprisingly good!
Size: 18-Inch Snow Blower Style: Kit, w/ 4-Ah Batteries Pattern Name: Snow Blower
After a lot of searching and review reading of several different battery powered snow blowers, I chose the Snow Joe 24V-X2-SB18. We got a first snow today in Michigan and it is the wet and heavy variety. I immediately thought I was going to be disappointed, but was really surprised by this unit. I went in knowing that it is a battery powered unit and is not going to have the same power as a gas snow blower, but it handled the heavy wet snow (about 3-4 inches) pretty well. When I went out front, my neighbor was already out shoveling his drive and looked over at my Snow Joe and audibly laughed. Fast forward to 15 minutes later and I'm done and in my warm house while my neighbor is still outside shoveling and is only 50% done (If not for the snide chuckling at my Snow Joe, I may have done his walk as well). All in all, there is a slight learning curve to using it, but with a bit of patience it does a good job and no gas, smell and is very quiet compared to a gas unit. Would recommend to anyone that is tired of shoveling and doesn't want to deal with a gas blower. ... show more

  • It is what it is
Size: 18-Inch Snow Blower Style: Kit, w/ 4-Ah Batteries Pattern Name: Snow Blower
If you are looking for an inexpensive, rechargeable blower for light jobs, this is a good one. It is small and light and easy to use. It will blow snow for about 20 minutes on a charge, which will clear about 400-500 square feet of 4-5 inches of fresh snow. Then, it takes about 2 hours to charge up again. So, if you blow, then push snow and take a lunch break while batteries are recharging, you can fill your day with cross-fit snow removal. Its small size is good for clearing decks and fitting in the garage for storage. For storage, the handle folded down to make it smaller. The instructions are RIDICULOUSLY CLEAR (though repetitive, but they don't want anybody to lose a hand, after all) and they are VERY INTO CUSTOMER SERVICE because in the 19-page manual, they list their customer service contact information 11 TIMES. When we were shopping for snow blowers on Amazon, we looked at the reviews. If you need something with more power, you can spend $1000+ on a gas-powered beast. But, if you just need something better than a snow-pusher, you need an electric snow blower. I didn't feel comfortable with a plug-in model (dragging an extension cord across snow doesn't sound too safe), so we went with lithium battery. The only negative reviews we saw were from people who didn't read the directions and tried to force the blower through the snow. Like the instructions say (REPEATEDLY) go slow, be careful with hidden rocks and other debris, don't stick your hands where they don't belong ... OH, AND THEY EVEN HAVE A LITTLE SHOVEL TO CLEAR THE SHOOT! ... show more

  • I love it! BUT don't expect a 150 lb gas blower.
Size: 18-Inch Snow Blower Style: Kit, w/ 4-Ah Batteries Pattern Name: Snow Blower
I have 2 cars parked on the street at unknown distances, and no desire to pull a 150 lb blower on and off my porch. So, got the start of a big storm today. Easy to assemble and use. Works great. Read the description carefully. UP TO 40 MINUTES of run time. I thought I could do the whole neighborhood. WRONG. But more than enough to dig 2 cars out. But, dig the cars out first and do the rest later. Be efficient as though using a shovel, but with FAR less effort I actually just bought a corded electric to do the front of my house to have lots of power to get my cars out. I figure together I can clear everything and more in maybe an hour when it's bad. Subzero wind chills will be better! Just dropping this b/c few reviews, hope to update as the storm goes on...... Update: Well, the storm ended with over 20 inches. I did learn a couple of things about this machine. First, it runs best in the first maybe 10 minutes under heavy load. So I work fast and recharge from a higher level. Second, it is only a 1 stage blower so it needs a little help against plow piles. Using a push and pull method gives the heavy snow a push to help it fly. Then pull back and let the rotors recover. By removing the plow pile from the driver side door to a few feet in front of the car I can get out without shoveling. A benefit from the light weight is I can lift it for all plow piles to scrape the top layer or so off if it is a problem. So far, I'm a happy customer. ... show more

  • Thumbs up snow joe!
Size: 18-Inch Snow Blower Style: Kit, w/ 4-Ah Batteries Pattern Name: Snow Blower
I am very impressed with snow joe over greenworks 20" 40 v. Hands down a way better machine. The snow joe didn't quit a bunch of times like the greenworks . snow joe handled the snow better too. The only thing that the greenworks seemed to do better was, it got down to the driveway better than snow joe, and the lights were brighter than snow joe. Other than that I'd buy the snow joe every time over greenworks! ... show more

This is our 2nd Sno Joe - a house at each end of the state. That should say all that needs to be said. Dependable, powerful, easy to use.

  • Looks **just** like a snowblower --- UPDATED 2020 March
Size: 18-Inch Snow Blower Style: Kit, w/ 4-Ah Batteries Pattern Name: Snow Blower
--- UPDATE March 2020 --- Discovered all-new reason to regret purchase: wet snow. ----------------- This effeminate, delicate toy looks **just** like a snowblower...only it's smaller and less useful. But seriously. And while it lacks capacity (battery capacity and snow-throwing capacity), at least it's whisper-quiet & idiot-proof. It's good enough for walkways and tiny driveways for a low volume of fluffy snow only. (It's easily outgunned with anything more.) WISH I'D BOUGHT SOMETHING MORE ROBUST AND YES EXPENSIVE. Primary operational complaint is that you're constantly needing to move your left hand over to the right handle to re-depress the trigger safety; this should be operable with a single hand (but isn't). Secondary complaint is the weak chute that binds up when you try to rotate where you're throwing the snow--i.e., something you do two dozen times per session. ... show more
