I think this is really quite a cleaver idea. The cats seemed curious though approached with trepidation. They would bat at it and watch, seemed to lose interest in the short term. Works well, as advertised, on tile and wood floors. Gets stuck on carpet and rugs. Overall, moderately satisfied.

The product works as directed; don't know if it will last. TERRIBLE OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS. No instructions come with it; the online stuff says pat the head to make it go. Nowhere that I can find does it tell you there's a little switch on the back you turn on. I returned one thinking it was faulty - probably the little switch on one of the sections was off. Thank goodness for a reviewer. Another problem is that when you plug it in, the light turns red, making you think it still isn't charged. How hard would it be for the company to stick in a wisp of paper with instructions. Very poor company - don't hold out much hope for longevity, but we'll see if Dolly, my grand puppy, likes it! ... show more

The cats find this fascinating! Not only the red eyes and movement, but the material it is made of. I've taught one of them how to make it "go" by nudging its nose if it gets stuck - which it often does. Unfortunately it doesn't work well on carpet or from floor to carpet.

GOOD: Easy to set up and charge. I almost missed the small power switch on the underside. It entertained my cats for several minutes, although they mostly just watched. It has "snake-like" motion as it moves across the floor. Works on a hard surface or thin indoor-outdoor carpet. Advanced features include: (a) an infrared obstruction-detector that reduces it being trapped; (b) a logic "escape" sequence to move around or away from obstructions; (c) automatic turn-off if it gets trapped; The toy moves w/ serpentine-motion until an obstruction is encountered. It will back-up and move left until an obstruction is met, then moves further left to continue its path. In this way it moves around a room. After a few minutes it "plays dead". If the cat touches it, it will start its motion again. BAD: Very noisy on a hard surface (eventhough the wheels are rubberized): less noisy on carpet. It does not work at all on thick carpet, as the wheels cannot get traction. The battery duration was 15-20min, but its easily recharged w/ USB. UGLY: I expect the lifetime to be short. Perhaps I will get a few dollars of entertainment from this. ... show more

First and foremost. it came with the snake and a charging cord and no directions. I had to figure it out myself. Once that was done. I charged it first because that is what all directions say. Then I set it out for my cat. she loves watching it and interacting with it, she has even learned how to turn it back on when it goes off. I love the motion senses it is programed for and how it backs up and changes directions. the other downside is that it picks up all the cat hair on teh floor better than my rumba and it would be wise to invest in a sharp pointed pair of tweezers to pull the hair out because on teh bottom side it says not to turn the wheels when off. But I still gave it a 5-star review because it's so interesting to watch and to watch the cats interact with it. But I do love watching the cat learn it's quirks so quickly.. ... show more

My cat has enjoyed the toy, I only let her play while supervised by me. The rubber around one of the wheel ripped in 2 so now the toy is useless. I just got it in April so kind of bummed since my kitty did really enjoy it.
