  • Inconsistent Quality Control - AMENDED REVIEW
I ordered two of these - one for my living room and one for the master bedroom. Both perform flawlessly and are almost absolutely silent. Unfortunately the next one I ordered for my office makes an intermittent grinding noise at the lowest ("Sleep") level which is very annoying. I ordered yet another one, hoping it too would be silent and I could return the noisy one. The newest one was even noisier - making a grinding noise all the time! I'll be returning both and trying another brand. Too bad as the first two units perform so well. *I am amending my review and increasing my rating to four stars based on the vendor's excellent customer service. They sent me a new unit free of charge and this time it is as silent as the first two I bought. Not sure what happened with the two noisy ones I returned but this new one works perfectly. I would definitely recommend this air purifier as it's easy to set up, connect to wi-fi and program the timers and clearly the vendor stands behind their product. ... show more

  • Quality product, great HomeKit integration, but janky app
My review is more about the tech implementation of this product. This is very high quality, and the price is unbeatable for the product in the same category with this kind of integration, although the companion app is more to be desired. The HomeKit setup was effortless. The code is on a sticker near where you plug in the power cable. Scan it, and it takes a while for the device to do its thing. I have a Google Nest Wi-Fi which has 5GHz and 2.4GHz under the same SSID, and I did not encounter any connection issues. The device will show up as an air purifier and air quality sensor combo. Once added, you can change the on/off status, fan speed, and manual/auto mode in Home app. You can also see the filter life and condition (can't remember whether this showed up after updating the firmware). If you assign the device to a room, the air quality status will show up as well as a general description ("Excellent" for my room). If you need details, you'll have to look at the accessory property. Siri cannot answer my question onthe air quality. This is more Apple's issue, though, since the device did provide the info to HomeKit correctly. For more remote controls and firmware updates, you'll need the companion app. For this air purifier. Xiaomi decided to make a new app called Smartmi Link instead of using the Mi Home app for its prior products. The registration process in the app was janky. So here's how you navigate it: When the app is downloaded, you should grant the permission it needs to find the device, and you can revoke it later once you added the device. Once you are in the app, tap "Add Device" and it will ask you to register an account (wait for a while if the screen does not show up). If you only use HomeKit, you can tap "Trial" to start using the app without an account. If you do want to make an account, note that the form does not scroll with your keyboard so when you confirm your password you can't see what you typed. Only after you choose Trial or register an account, you can add device into the app (if you were too quick, the app will never finish adding the device). After you add the device, it will take a while for the filter information to get updated, so don't be alarmed that for a few seconds that the filter life appears to be 0%. Once added, the app gives you more modes to control the device. The app may get out of sync with the actual device status when you first use it, so just adjust the device as usual in your app and it should match. In the app, you can choose more modes, turn off device beep sounds and display, set power schedule and power off timer. To update the device firmware, go back to mainscreen, tap the profile picture on top left corner, and select "Firmware Update". ... show more

  • Works Great
This item is so quiet I have to keep checking to make sure it's on. So far it's working as intended and I'm seeing less dust in the air.

  • No HomeKit problems
I was surprised to see the negative reviews regarding HomeKit integration. I have had mine over 6 months, working daily in a home office which during nighttime is the home to two small dogs in their crates. The filter handles the dander, dust and random smells which can come from the two dogs overnight. The noise level at top speed isn’t objectionable—I find it to be pleasant white noise, and since I am on the phone during the day frequently, it has the added value of masking random noises from outside as well., Regarding HomeKit: I realized the other day that I had never downloaded the Smartmi app. I had added the purifier directly to HomeKit when it was first plugged in, and perhaps that is why it has worked for me without any problems at all. I downloaded the Smartmi app and found there was an overdue firmware update that needed to be applied. Certainly the app is needed for keeping track of updates, but maybe connecting the purifier to HomeKit first before ever exposing it to the Smartmi app might make a difference. I just ordered a replacement filter after 6 months, and thought I would provide some feedback on this purifier. I highly recommend it for anyone who is running a HomeKit home and wants a controllable filter for the home. ... show more

  • start to make noise after about 9 months use
This machine starts to make noise after about 9 months use. The noise does not come from the fan. It is like some noises made by the electric current. The noise level doesn't change with the speed of fan. It is annoying in the night. I have to unplug the machine to avoid the noise in the night.

  • Update: Finally received the right product! | Seller sent incorrect Device
This product description clearly lists this as the Smartmi Air Purifier P1 with homekit support. The device that was sent is clearly the older air purifier that doesn’t have homekit support. Update: After another failed attempt to send me the correct device, I finally got my hands on the P1. Much smaller than the other offering from Smartmi. I love the look of this thing. It connected to my network and homekit easily. That said, the fan rattles. Is it supposed to? ... show more
