I put in new LED wafer lights under my garage soffets last year. They were white- I wanted colored lights in the 4-inch form factor but I could not find any. These became available not too long ago so I decided to give them a try. I had really good success experimenting with the functionality of a colored light BULB (by my front door). That bulb was a LampUX bulb. These lights are pretty good, but I knocked off a star because the lights SHOULD have come with a foam ring (to keep moisture from getting into the hole). Also, the spring clips are not super great. They're a bit flimsy. I much preferred the pre-installed and non-removable clips of my previous white lights. As far as APP control-- something I learned from my porch bulb is that there are SEVERAL apps out there in the google play store-- and they're well, all the same-- that is, they're small tiny variations of the "SMART LIFE" app. In my case, I just used the app I already had for the porch bulb-- "LampUX"- and I was able to add these lights just fine. I did NOT need to go get the "Lumary" app. In addition, once added and configured in the app, making the final connection to google home/assistanct was a snap. The app (be it LampUX or smart life or Lumary or whatever), isn't great but it works ok. And I had zero probems getting them connected afterword in my google-home setup. So I can control these by voice now. My lights (porch bulb and now these garage soffet lights) are controlled by a light-timer switch. So I don't need the app to do timing things. The good news is that the lights DO remember their setting when the power is cut. So if they're white, or colored, or whatever, they come back on where they left off the previous day. If you're installing these, I highly recommend you do what I did-- hook each of them up, ONE AT A TIME, with a temporary wiring connection so you can get them installed in the app and so on. The brightness of the lights is great-- obviously, the white light is brighter than the colors. I am very happy that the white can also be controlled to any warmth setting you want (I'm not a fan of cold white). These lights are suitable for damp locations (such as my garage soffets), as the wafer disks are sealed. But as I mentioned, there really should be a foam ring. The lights are supposedly UL-listed; I don't buy that as there's no real UL logo. But inspecting them I believe them to be fine. I'm not worried about the control boxes getting wet because they're tucked way up inside the soffets. One last item-- for you technical nerds, the lights controller boxes do NOT have the MAC address printed anywhere. I documented that via my router as I plugged each of them in. Most people don't care about that, but I do-- so when I look at my router status I can see exactly what is- or is not- on my network at any given time. ... show more

Wanted so accent lights around our tv and these lights dont disappoint. I went with the 4" version and they are plenty bright. Felt the 6" would be a little to big for my application. Installation was easy although there wasnt a templet in the box. The clips were easy to install on the lights and are really strong to hold the lights in place. Pairing the lights to the app was pretty straight forward just have to make sure the lights are in discovery mode. The app took a little getting use to as the app is for so many products and not just these lights. Works great with alexa for basic functions like turn on lights and change light color to blue or red. The app allows you to set us scenes and change colors with music which is pretty cool. Havent figured out how to turn these features on with alexa yet if at all possible but so far I have to say these are exactly what I wanted and expected. Also want to note that you have to dim or brighten the lights through the app or alexa can not use a wall dimmer. It's best to leave the switch on and use alexa to turn the lights on and off. I plan on getting more of these and so far i am extremely happy with the quality of these lights. ... show more

These lights were very easy to install. I bought 12 of them. I programmed and named the each before I installed them in the ceiling. I just connected them individually to a cut extension cord first. However, the Lumary Smart app DOES NOT sync over to Alexa all of the features. Through Alexa, I only get 5 shades of white and 16 colors. I do NOT get the scenes nor the music feature. Amazon Tech said they would look into it and try to get it fixed. We will see. ... show more

Had this product four or five days and after trying every method we can find, this will not connect! We did the whole on/off thing about 100 times, the lights blink, we go to the app, it searches (slowly), finally to say nothing can be found! or, the lights stop flashing before the search is over and you have to start all over again! Tried even joining them to Alex, another waste of time, discovers them, but says they are all off-line. Tried to speak to the "support person", all he did was repeat what the app told me to do, when that didnt work he asked us to send a video..last we heard from them!! Spent over $2000 with the lights and install to the outside of our home and all we are left with is a clinical white set of lights...not 16 million colours as promised!..and yes, we did switch the wifi to 2.4GHZ and yes the Lutron hot spot came up at one point, asking for a password which we cannot find any information on anywhere. Dont believe the hype on how simple they make this sound ... show more

    • Incompatible with *any* previous housing, need to remove all of it -- GREAT LIGHTS once installed!

Not clear how much work is involved installing these, even in brand new construction (my house was built in 2019). You have to remove all of the plastic housing in any previous light, even if its just a cheap 4-inch builder grade LED. Just get rid of all of it, all the housing, etc. I busted up my ceiling a little bit pulling the housing out, and wasn't even expecting to have to get up in the attic for this! You will get up in the attic for this, get ready! Once you've got the housing removed, the clamps to clip the lights to the ceiling drywall are a fun little puzzle on their own! THAT SAID. Once they are in, they are awesome. They initialize perfectly with the the Smart Life app, which means they seamlessly add to the Google Assistant / Google Home App / Alexa / IFTTT, stuff afterwards. So -- for me, if the manufacturers had been a bit more straightforward about how much work would be involved removing the previous housing to make these work, I'd be a lot happier, and would have torn up my ceiling a bit less. That said, now that these are in my ceiling, I really love them! ... show more
