Awesome concept BUT store bought beads DON’T work!!!!!!!
Style: Single
We LOVE perler bead projects so this was at the top of my son’s Christmas list! The only reason this isn’t getting four stars is that I was VERY disappointed to find out the size of these beads is smaller than your average perler bead! So now we have to buy the Smart Pixelator beads......ugh. I feel a bit cheated. ... show more

NEXT LEVEL TOY - WOW
Style: Single
This toy exceeded all of my kids expectations - they simply cannot get enough of it! I love that they are able to explore their creativity with limitless possibilities especially using the free app and it's photo-to-pixelate feature. As a parent, I am always looking for toys that can entertain and at the same time educate - this is not easy to find and we found it in the smART Pixelator. This is our second toy from Flycatcher Toys and we are also big fans of the smART sketcher which teaches our kids how to draw. If you are looking for an innovative toy that is different from all the "clutter" out there today, this toy is highly recommended! It is the perfect holiday gift for any creative kid out there! LOVE IT! ... show more

BE WARNED
Style: Single
BEWARE LONG POST-WELL WORTH THE READ TO SAVE YOU SOME MONEY : This product makes it mandatory for you to buy the beads that are from the smART company. I have spent 2 weeks trying to track down the "appropriate" size of beads for the smART Pixelator locally. Next I tried looking online to find the right size. I have spent more time and more money then I ever wanted to commit just to find extra beads. My son was excited to do his own custom design. I was looking for a good amount of red beads. I still can't find the right size. Unless I want to wait 2 weeks, and pay 15 dollar for shipping. The beads that come with this product are enough barley to do one design that is on easy. BE WARNED you will have to spend time tracking down extra bead or pay 15 dollars shipping and wait to get the "right" kind of beads. If I could go back I would have returned this item when I bought it. I have to now eat the cost, and let a disappointed son know that he can not do his design how he envision it. I think this is a trap, this company should be ashamed. I hope this scathing review help some other frustrated mom or dad before they make this purchase. ... show more

Fun little toy
Style: Single
Super cool toy. Similar to a light bright but way more capabilities. Good value for the money. The only thing my 7 year old had a hard time worth the tiny pieces. This may just be him. He got frustrated trying to put them in. Maybe it should be marketed for slightly older kids? The toy itself is awesome I had fun with it and enjoy it’s different capabilities. This could just be a my son problem. But he is usually really good at building and such. I would definitely recommend this product though. Makes a great gender neutral gift. ... show more

8yr old loves it!

My daughter saved all her birthday money to get this toy. You can do just pegs and use it like a lite brite or do perler beads and make real items. It was so easy to figure out, great app. You can use it without app too. She’s delighted with it. You would definitely want to buy a peg/bead kit or big tub of perler beads. They don’t give you enough in here to really have fun. We bought the sorting kit with it that has a mix of beads, pegs and sequins. So far, so good. ... show more

Would not recommend
Style: Single
Doesn’t work with actual perler beads so that’s kinda lame- you have to buy their brand. It comes with enough for like 2-3 projects as long as you don’t care about using the same color through the whole project. Whenever we tried to upload a picture onto it it came out super dark with tons of black so I asked the company what was wrong. Their answer was that it has to compile all the colors into 16bit so try a different picture. We’ve tried like probably 30 and they all come out looking like a dark pop art picture. Its not a complete waste of money because there’s a lot of projects pre-built into the pixelator, but the make your own picture feature definitely doesn’t work. I would not recommend it for anything but the built in projects and it’s not great value for your money, but my child likes it at least ... show more

Fun crafting for kids!
Style: Single
I bought this as a Christmas present for my 8 year old niece. She loves crafting and this one was no exception! Her favorite part about this one is the ability to take her own picture and turn it into a template! She is able to do everything by herself except for the last step, which requires molding the beads together with an iron (or some form of high heat). Otherwise, this is a great kid friendly project for rainy days! ... show more

Great product with a few minor things that need improvement
Style: Single
Review Image by LenaK
Overall a great well made product. Will list the pros and cons below Pros • great price for what you get •easy set up and reads app perfectly • come with templates and things to make all 3 of their styles: sequin, traditional beads and the peg bead things Cons • the peeler beads are not the standard that most other brands use. These are thinner and taller • the overall concept is great except when you try to use it with the light on. Unless you stay in one spot it looks like it is off the pattern and when the beads are on the machine you can’t tell the difference between the empty and filled ones. •Because the beads are thinner and taller they get knocked down more than they stay up Overall this is a great product but definitely needs an upgrade and change on a few of the features. ... show more
