  • Excellent quiet supercooling hardware. Great product! Excellent quiet supercooling hardware. Great product!
Style: for Sony/Canon/FUJIFILM
Works great. I’m using my it as a cooler for my ASUS NUC 14 PRO+. The NUC is designed so the motherboard is at the top of the aluminum housing with the processor at the top with the copper heat dispersion tubes going outward then down the side to the cooling fins on both side of the housing. With this placed directly in the middle at the top of the case it keeps the whole system much cooler. It’s very quiet and I can’t even hear it running. Well worth the money. It cools extremely well. It’s a nice compact size and it’s well built and solid. It has some weight to it and it functions great. This could be widely used for cooling almost anything. It’s compatible with anything that has the room for it. ... show more

  • This thing is cold! This thing is cold!
Style: for Sony/Canon/FUJIFILM
This is better than I expected. At first I thought this is just a heatsink with a fan. It turned out this is an active cooling device with Peltier solid state cooling device. It fits perfectly and works great on my A7C II. It does take quite a bit of power but that's normal for active cooling devices. The only think I added to it is thin soft thermal pad so it can take out the heat more efficiently. ... show more

  • Keeps the camera cooler
Style: for Sony
I bought this for video to keep my ZV-E10 II from shutting down when streaming in 4K. The camera has a 30-40 minute runtime in 4k/60 without the fan. Infinite runtime with the fan. There are two speeds for the fan. The low speed is fine to keep the camera running. The fan is slightly audible but cannot hear it as I use an external microphone 3 feet away. Simple install. It just clicks in. ... show more

  • This thing works!!
Style: for Sony
I have the Sony ZV-E1 which is classic for overheating while streaming and I stress tested it with the small rig and it ran 2 hours on normal mode just fine! Before that it was cutting out like every 5 minutes but the small rig really keeps the camera cool.

  • More useful than expected
Style: for Sony/Canon/FUJIFILM
Over the past year, I've come to consider Smallrig to have several useful items for my Sony A7Cii. The Camera External Cooling System for Sony (let's just call it a radiator) has proven no exception. Let's start with the benefits. Designed to fit, the radiator snapped right into place once I moved the screen out of the way. It fit securely and I didn't have to worry about it slipping out during use. (a plastic ring is provided to ensure compatibility with your camera. Solidly manufactured from metal it provides a direct contact with the camera in use. A digital readout shows the temperature with a simple button controlling the power. While there was some "wrrrr" it was quickly drown out by normal street noise and unnoticable. Used on a hot August day in Atlanta, the radiator ensured that my camera kept working while other photographers near me had their shut down from overheating. Per the readout, I was constantly about 25C (American uses be aware that the temperature readout is in celcius) when it was running, the same as the ambient temperature of the Atlanda sun that day But it's not "perfect" To save size that would be used by a battery, the radiator required an external battery and USB cord. Understandable given it's size, but a rechargable battery would have been nice. But then there is the power consumption. Apparently cooling takes more energy than expected as the radiator sucked my 5000 mAH cell dry faster than I would have expected. (about 90 minutes). And as you're required to keep the screen open, learning to focus with it off to the side. Not that it's difficult to master, but you have to allow for having the screen opened out where it can be jostled. Overall, a useful tool for your camera should you find youself in situations where overheating can be a concern. ... show more

  • Phenomenal Performance!
Style: for Sony
Didn’t think I’d need one of these until my ZV-E10-II shut down in the middle of a podcast. This one was among the lesser expensive units and since Smallrig is a trusted name in my studio I decided to give it a shot. It came in, I used it immediately and I have to say, I am incredibly impressed. It actually cools to the point where the surface against the camera feels like it’s got from flowing through it. It works far better than I imagined, to the point that I bought more for the other rigs in my studio. Better to stay safe than have to work around a lost angle half way through a shoot. Truly impressive stuff. Excellent quality, easy to mount and perfect for my ZV1E10 II and my Fuji X-S20. I love these things! ... show more

  • TERRIBLE customer support for an obviously defective product TERRIBLE customer support for an obviously defective product
Style: for Sony
My fan runs at 70db+ according to my phone app, constantly. It is loud enough to render any onboard microphone useless. I wrote to them for a warranty replacement. Their response was completely ridiculous. I am pursuing alternative means of redress. Their answer to my request for a warranty exchange follows: "Thank you for your patience, and we sincerely apologize for the delayed response. Serena is no longer with our team, and unfortunately, it seems there was a handover issue that caused your email to go unanswered. We’re very sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. We’ve now reviewed your case with our technical team, and here is their feedback: The fan operates at the following specifications: Normal mode: 4500 RPM, noise level < 40 dB Boost mode: 7000 RPM, noise level < 50 dB Based on the video you provided, it appears that the decibel reading was taken using a mobile phone app. Please note that such apps can vary significantly in accuracy and are not as reliable as professional-grade decibel meters. This may explain the higher noise readings you observed. If possible, we kindly suggest testing again using a calibrated sound level meter or more professional equipment." This will help us better assess the actual noise performance and determine whether it falls outside the expected range." Who has a "calibrated sound level meter or more professional equipment" sitting around? As I seek a remedy, I will kindly ask that they provide me with such a device in addition a complete refund. Terrible value for the money. Incredibly shoddy support. I used to run call centers for a Fortune 10 company. If this were to happen, it would be escalated to someone in the C-suite. Unacceptable, unhelpful, and utterly unrealistic. Last product I will purchase from them, based on the incredibly shoddy customer service alone, even though it failed to work as described. I question their product description and the potentially intentionally misleading information. If you expect any warranty support, stay away. As you can see, the volume meter on the camera is registering the fan noise. The room is silent except for the inordinate and unacceptable fan noise. ... show more
