Smallrig gear is awesome. This cage fits great for video. I wish it left just a little more room for my Peak Design strap anchors but it works great. Sufficient mount points for what I use anyway (I'm mostly still but do some sports video). Can mount an external recorder, phone mount (always have backup recording!) and shotgun mic easily. Only caveat is to only buy from the Smallrig store on Amazon because resellers are problematic (at best).

So I've ordered many cages and this is my first for the R5. It's a low profile cage and easily grants access to the battery compartment. It also fits on my gimble without issue. Couple of notes: The cage does keep the hot shoe slot on the camera accessible, which allows you to mount a handle there or on the cage itself. The cage does cover then screen light button on the top of the R5. I assume to prevent it from being pressed and draining battery, but something to consider.

The camera just glides right in, all the machining has been done masterfully, no issues, solid as a rock. Would recommend to anyone interested in multiple mounting points or extra added protection.

Absolutely love the built-in tool, magnetized to the bottom and the two additional tightening tabs really improve the sturdiness from the previous version. Reason for the 4 stars is that, when shooting photos, there are a number of hot shoe devices that don't fit.

Update: Smallrig refunded and took amazing care of me :) Did not fit my Canon R6 for some reason. Maybe the gave was warped a bit in shipping or manufactures defect. Scratched my camera body a bit trying to put it on. Looked like a perfect fit but just would not get on. Will try another and see if it works.
