As far as cages go for the DJI Action 5 this is an impressive item, it has plenty of connections avaliable on it and smart folding gates on it for ease of use while fit on to the camera. This provides the camera with extra protection and durability that usually are hard to find with offerings from DJI. It great budget friendly option for the Action 5 that provide both a snug fit and user friendly functionality any body could appreciate. Over all I highly recomend this item.

This cage is better then the included DJI plastic cage in every way imaginable and is absolutely worth the money. It is a must have for anyone but especially if you plan on using a tripod and want a compact unit. The quality is amazing and the camera fits in perfectly! One huge bonus is that you CAN use screen protectors when using this casee, unlike the included plastic DJI cage (the cage DJI includes with the camera interferes with the rear screen protector and wont work with one). This cage also allows perfect access to not only the charging poet but also the battery and memory card door! Unlike the DJI plastic cage you do NOT have to remove the camera from the cage to change batteries or memory cards! This makes battery swaps a painless quick thing so you can get immediately back to filming! Along with a bottom and side mount for the DJI magnetic quick release it also has a bottom and side 1/4-20 thread for direct mounting of a tripod or other 1/4-20 screw on accessories! This is a great way to mount to your tripod quickly without fiddling with adapters. This is nice if, like me, you bought one of those 50 in one kits and now have a TON of adapters, brackets, and mounts but just need to mount to a tripod for a quick video. The raised edges around the front and back help protect your screen from scratches or impacts. This means you don't have to worry about setting your camera down on its back and scratching the screen! The cage also has a cold shoe mount but currently I don't have anything to mount to that, however it's definitely something others may make constant use of! Another nice feature is how unrestricted the access to the USB C port is! I purchased a cheap (but surprisingly nice quality) lapel microphone from Amazon and because of the way they designed the cage there is plenty of room for the wireless receiver to fit (see included photos) which was a pleasant surprise! You DO of course have to remove the cover door from the camera but it easily pops off and I believe this also needs to be done with the USB microphone offerings from DJI themselves (I don't have the extra money for DJI's insanely expensive wireless "Mic 2").

The SmallRig DJI protective cage is compatible with both the DJI Osmo Action 3 and 4. The camera fits perfectly inside this cage, and the build quality is outstanding. The cage has a solid weight, which is indicative of its high durability and premium craftsmanship. It allows easy access to both the battery charging bay and the microSD/battery bay, making it simple to swap batteries and memory cards without removing the camera from the cage. The camera is inserted into the cage through the back, using a locking swinging door. This design is a significant improvement over the stock DJI plastic protective housing, making it much easier to insert and remove the camera. The SmallRig setup features a sleek gunmetal finish, adding to its aesthetic appeal. It also includes multiple attachment points, enabling users to mount lights, microphone receivers, and various other aftermarket accessories, such as vlogging microphones. While the SmallRig cage might seem a bit pricey, it is worth every penny for the quality and functionality it offers. Some users have reported difficulty attaching the DJI magnetic adapter (which connects to the camera via a magnetic plate with locking tabs) to the SmallRig housing. However, I found this claim to be unfounded, as I had no issues attaching the adapter to the cage. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this purchase and confidently consider it the best aftermarket cage for the Osmo Action 3 and 4 available on the market.

The case is defiantly strong, so if you're looking for solid protection, this is the case for you. It's a bit heavy and I do like that the record button is not partially cover. I have plastic SmallRig case and the record button is partially covered which can sometimes not be that easy to press it. Other than that this case is a great accessory.

This SmallRig Action 5 Pro Camera Cage is a fantastic accessory for my DJI Action 5 pro camera. This case is solid and pretty with it's lightweight aluminum build, providing excellent protection while maintaining a sleek design. The cage features multiple mounting points, including 1/4"-20 threads and cold shoe mounts, making it easy to attach accessories like microphones and lights. Installing it is quick and secure, and it doesn’t obstruct access to buttons, ports, or the battery compartment. The detachable side panel is a great addition for convenient battery swaps.
