  • Wow! Better than expected...6 🌟
It works like a dream. I always had to re anchor 3 or 4 times in Moses Lake, Texas City where it is a mud bottom lake.... now we anchor in one drop without drifting. The best anchor ever and the quality is worth the extra price.

  • Top rating!
This anchor is by far the best we've ever owned!

  • Great and effective anchor
Used this for my 22’ pontoon boat. Worked great in windy conditions. This is my second box anchor. The shackle failed on the first one after years of use. Worked so well I had to buy another.

  • Great anchor
Works great. We never drift or have to worry about it catching just right. It is heavy and awkward to handle but it is worth it!

  • Astoundingly good
So I'm gonna start this by saying I hardly EVER write reviews and when I do it's either gonna be great, or terrible. In this case its great!. My boat is pretty big at about 5k lbs. Because its fiberglass that means I'm gonna generally park offshore a bit to protect the hull and I used this anchor to hold it off the beach. I camped for 3 nights using this method where I have the box anchor off shore and a rope to shore and I couldn't have been more pleased. This anchor didnt slip almost at all. For all 3 nights there were constant decent sized waves and I was worried the whole time that the anchor would slip and the boat would hit the shore (very rocky at this site so that was a real concern) but she held strong. I am so impressed by this anchor well and truly. I've used it at 2 camp locations now. The muddy bottom one it held like an absolute champ. It slid just a couple of feet at the sandy bottom location but then dug in and held. All in all this anchor is amazing if you want something to hold firm. Granted, it takes a moment to set and that is a bit of a pain, but the overall hold capability of this anchor is truly amazing. ... show more

  • It Holds!
The lightweight anchor that came with my boat would constantly slip and drag. Even in protected, calm coves. I used this small box anchor on my 22' bowrider for the first time and it held position extremely well. The dam upstream was opened while I was out resulting in a very strong current, but this anchor dug in and worked like a champ. The current was so strong that I had to attach dock lines to my cleats so my friends that were swimming/floating in the water wouldn't get swept away. I was happy to see this anchor work so well. It's heavy and menacing looking, but it is very effective. A battle bot and bear trap were two descriptions I've heard, and they're pretty spot on. And like other reviewers mentioned, you need to dunk it in and out of the water to get the mud off of it when retrieving the anchor. And exercise caution when lowering and raising it to avoid contact with your gelcoat. ... show more

  • Love this anchor
We bought the SMALL box anchor to hold our 22ft Tritoon. The anchor we had was from our 18ft bow rider. It was a light weight digging style anchor. It didn't hold the pontoon so well. Even in a light breeze we broke anchor several times. So I ordered the box anchor after doing some research. I must say I am impressed. It is rather expensive when compared to other anchors. But this one seems to be worth the price. Our boat is a 22ft Suntracker XP3 Tritoon. We boat on freshwater lakes and rivers with mud/gravel bottoms. This anchor digs and holds our pontoon right in place. By design you DO NOT need an anchor chain. Just tie, or in our case, we used a threaded quickline and swivel to attach our anchor rope to the box anchor. Because it is a digging anchor, it is not uncommon for it to come up caked in mud. Just flush it off with a few up and down motions and it comes clean pretty quick. I absolutely love how it folds flat for storage in the included storage bag. It’s big enough that it holds the anchor and 150ft of anchor line. Be fore warned! It is on the heavy side. It isn't anything too heavy though. The typical adult will be able to manage the anchor w/o issues. Our anchor was galvanized coated. I see where some say theirs was stainless steel. Over all I am very impressed with the holding power. Like I said, our boat is 22ft and we chose the small box anchor. It holds just fine. And is just as easy to retrieve as it is to set. 2yrs in and still love this anchor. It’s the only type we have found that will hold our boat in a breeze w/o issues ... show more

  • Holds great but could be better made
First, the good: This thing is HEAVY. I ordered the small one and it's quite hefty. The locking mechanism is solid and overall it appears to be well built. I've used it once on my 19ft pontoon boat and it held fast on the first attempt on a muddy bottom with 3ft wakes. That said, it was a bit difficult to get it free once we decided to pull anchor. Following the instructions, I pulled the boat directly over the anchor and had to use force to pull it up. It finally broke free and of course I had to "dunk it" a few times to get rid of the mud that rode up. I wouldn't consider this a con because if you've ever had to continually reset anchor, that's a bigger pain. Finally, the included storage bag is heavy duty and easily holds the anchor and the 100' of 3/8" anchor line. Okay, so the finish on this thing leaves much to be desired. It looks like a cheap spray paint job that is easily marred/flaked. See the attached photos for clarity. I can't comment on the overall build quality yet because I've only used it once. As with many Chinese-made products, the welds may prove to be the weakness for this anchor. As a final point, I would recommend a high-quality 1/2" line for this thing. It may seem like overkill, however after the first use my 3/8" line is deteriorating. With the force required to pull this thing up, I'd prefer to play it safe and ensure it doesn't get left on the bottom. ... show more
