My mattress is still in good shape, but I was starting to have issues with pressure points, so after reading lots of reviews I bought the "4 Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper" on Amazon. There are three versions to choose from: Plush: 3 inch memory foam, 1 inch of quilted topper Enhanced: 2 inch memory foam, 2 inch quilted topper Cooling Comfort: 2 inch memory foam, 2 inch cool-to-touch topper I opted for Enhanced version. Product shipped quickly and was easy to set up. Just open the seal, spread out the foam on the center of the bed, come back in a few hours and it's almost all the way expanded to the edges of the mattress. Mine did not have any stains or weird smell as some reviews have mentioned. I really wanted my first night sleeping to be a full comfort experience, but it wasn't. I have a history of issues with my cervical spine and situations like a too-soft bed can aggravate my condition. Unfortunately, this was the case for me with this product. First laying down, it was super comfortable. The gel pad has a nice conform to the body and spring-back. But when I would try to sleep, my head would be so much higher than my body, it put strain on my neck and was not only uncomfortable it would start to pinch nerves in my neck causing arm pain and numbness. This occurred with or without using a pillow. (Note: I know this is a ME problem and not a mattress problem.) After a couple of nights I decided to take off the gel pad and just use the 2 inch pillowtop. MAGIC! I now had exactly what I needed, some plush topping of my existing mattress and all pressure points eliminated. The loft in the pillowtop is perfect for me. I've been sleeping on it for 2 months now and it's still just as fluffy as when I first took it out of the box. When I change the sheets, it puffs right back up. I contacted the company to find out if they sell the pillowtop by itself, should I want another one, but it's not sold separately. The company answered my query within minutes and I was appreciative of the customer service. Even though the gel pad didn't work for me, I am very happy with the quality of the product and would recommend to someone who is in the market for a mattress topper. People have completely different views on this. I bought this in 2018 and still have it. And decided I will leave a review because it still allows me to sleep pain free for 5 years. I have a 20 year old mattress that is still in pretty good condition but few years ago my lower back started hurting and my hips as well. I’d start waking up in pain and dreaded getting a new mattress (let’s face it, they can be expensive). Instead I thought I’d give this a try. I bought the two layer system because I did not know which would work or if either would. For me the soft pillowy thing on top hurt my my back and hips worse. It was too soft and I found it makes me too hot rather then cooler. So I got rid of it. But the foam sponge for the last 5 years makes me sleep comfortably throughout the night without an ounce of pain. The chemical smell it comes with went away quite quickly. Since I am a side sleeper and sleep like a rock (I don’t shift, toss or turn) it adjusts, cools me off and gave an old mattress a new life. 5 years later and it still works and has not deteriorated one bit. I know some people like the pillow topper, but for me it did not work. It probably depends on your body and how you sleep. If you turn a lot maybe the pillow top makes that easier. My point it before you get a new mattress try it. This is a good one to go with because it provides the two options and give you a chance to see which, either or both work for you. I recently bought a pure memory foam mattress and found that if was slighlty too firm for my liking. I know it takes time for the bed to soften, but I didn't really want to wait, so decided to purchase a topper to make it more comfortable. Can happily say that this topper is like sleeping on a cloud! I am a side sleeper, so really need something to kind of sink into to take the pressure off my side. The combination of the foam and the pad on top works perfectly for me, and even my boyfriend (who prefers firm) really enjoys it as well! Overall really happy with this. The only con I have found so far is the topper does run a bit warm. But other than that, I would highly recommend this. ... show more
