I love amazon but a big downside is that often products are online only, or not available to examine locally . The reviews have been a great guide if you have the time to read through them. I'll sum up what I've read, filtering out the obviously paid for reviews to help illustrate the realities of this mattress topper. I'll start by saying that this is a quality topper as far as materials are concerned. I went to the manufacturers web page and read up on everything. They make their stuff to a relatively high standard, much better than the memory foam toppers I've purchased at walmart in the past. It's made in the USA if you care about that, is tested and meets safety standards related to the chemical content of the foam. The gel foam they use is much cooler than other memory foam, and more supportive. The pillow topper is a bit thin, 1-1/2 inches, but it's close enough and a dream to sleep on. The gel memory foam expanded quickly out of the package without obvious odor, and I slept on it the first night. The instructions said this would help the foam expand quicker with my body heat. Felt great, and got better as it expanded over two days. Many reviewers complained about this memory foam being overly soft and that they experienced back pain from how far they sank into the topper. I feel like those people are unfamiliar with memory foam, or already have particularly good mattresses and don't need such a heavy duty topper. I say this because I have disc issues all down my spine, and my back feels great in that bed. Then again I have a firmer mattress, the disc stuff was recent and I had to find something I could sleep on without pain. It can be hard to maneuver around while in bed, but if you've slept on memory foam for a whole night before, and like it, this is a top notch topper for the money. I encourage people who've never slept on memory foam, to start with something a bit thinner. It took me awhile to get used to memory foam, and some people don't like it at all. My mattress is still in good shape, but I was starting to have issues with pressure points, so after reading lots of reviews I bought the "4 Inch Memory Foam Mattress Topper" on Amazon. There are three versions to choose from: Plush: 3 inch memory foam, 1 inch of quilted topper Enhanced: 2 inch memory foam, 2 inch quilted topper Cooling Comfort: 2 inch memory foam, 2 inch cool-to-touch topper I opted for Enhanced version. Product shipped quickly and was easy to set up. Just open the seal, spread out the foam on the center of the bed, come back in a few hours and it's almost all the way expanded to the edges of the mattress. Mine did not have any stains or weird smell as some reviews have mentioned. I really wanted my first night sleeping to be a full comfort experience, but it wasn't. I have a history of issues with my cervical spine and situations like a too-soft bed can aggravate my condition. Unfortunately, this was the case for me with this product. First laying down, it was super comfortable. The gel pad has a nice conform to the body and spring-back. But when I would try to sleep, my head would be so much higher than my body, it put strain on my neck and was not only uncomfortable it would start to pinch nerves in my neck causing arm pain and numbness. This occurred with or without using a pillow. (Note: I know this is a ME problem and not a mattress problem.) After a couple of nights I decided to take off the gel pad and just use the 2 inch pillowtop. MAGIC! I now had exactly what I needed, some plush topping of my existing mattress and all pressure points eliminated. The loft in the pillowtop is perfect for me. I've been sleeping on it for 2 months now and it's still just as fluffy as when I first took it out of the box. When I change the sheets, it puffs right back up. I contacted the company to find out if they sell the pillowtop by itself, should I want another one, but it's not sold separately. The company answered my query within minutes and I was appreciative of the customer service. Even though the gel pad didn't work for me, I am very happy with the quality of the product and would recommend to someone who is in the market for a mattress topper. (I gave the gel mattress to a relative who always wanted to try one) EDIT: I’ve now been sleeping on this for over a year and it’s still performing the same. It stays fluffy and comfortable while reducing pressure points.

First of all, wow!! The level of comfort I experienced last night was incredible. I slept so well that I woke up before the sun came up AND I have zero back pain. A little background is needed- I’m 5’5” and my partner is 6’6” so my space on the bed is usually quite small. I’m a waitress so I’m on my feet for 12 hours a day and I have extreme back pain every morning to the point I almost can’t walk. I read the other reviews for this mattress topper and they were pretty mixed, but I wanted to give it a chance anyways. This review will try to hit all the points that the negative reviews seem to miss out on because people are just complaining with no solutions. Okay so first- start with an OK/Good mattress. I have a hybrid mattress so it already has a good foundation but it’s just not soft enough for me to sleep on my side the way I like to. That brings me to my second point- learn the different types of memory foam toppers based on your sleeping position. This is listed as a type for any type of sleeper (shocker) but really it’s so soft that it’s probably best for side or stomach sleepers. THE SMELL- okay so one negative thing I kept reading was about the chemical smell. This IS A BIG ISSUE! This is the one and only reason I rated this a 4 not a 5. Let me give some solutions to this though. Find an area in your house/apartment where you can open some windows when you unbox this. Lay it flat to let it expand and lay dryer sheets all over it. Leave it there for a few hours and let your fan run if you can. The smell WILL fill the room and it IS unpleasant. Give it time to air out though. The next thing I did was put it on my mattress and cover with a mattress protector, leaving the dryer sheets in between. On top of that, put the pillow top cover over and make your bed with fresh sheets. The smell has completely been contained and I slept just fine all night! Side note- the foam part is NOT 4 inches but when combined with the pillow top, it is definitely 4 inches. I recommend this for someone who needs immediate relief from back pain. It’s worth the extra money. Take extra care for the smell and then enjoy your sleep!

I was VERY Indecisive on whether or nor I should jump right into purchasing this at $100 when they have tons of options out there that are much lower and claim to offer the same (or at least very close) comfort level. I did a lot of research and I narrowed it down to a few different choices by just adding to the cart any of interest to me and at the end comparing those choices... W ell, when I looked at my cart and I had 4 of these added and 1 of each of the other items that I was going to be comparing it with, I realized that I clearly kept going back to this for a reason, so I decided after seeing the 10 year warranty it offers and Amazon allowing returns for 30 days after purchase, what could I possibly lose? Holy sh*t bombs- let me just tell you- I couldn't even imagine, much less explain, the amazing thing this topper will do to your bed!! My 12 year old wanted a "bed like mine" and was going to be changing from a futon bed to something larger and more comfortable because his back hurt all the time from the futon and he is almost 200 lbs and needed something with more support. The problem is my bed he dreamed of is a kingsize pillow top oo la la something expensive that cost thousands of $ in which I just do not have these days, especially when I had an extra queen size bed available, it just was very firm and not comfortable and definitely not similar to the softness of my bed that he wanted. I considered just purchasing a new bed for him as he will use it for years to come but kept thinking about the fact a topper could possibly make that free firm bed into an amazing soft one, saving tons of money, but I have never used a topper and wasn't sure if it was legit or not and didn't (and still don't understand the difference in that and a mattress pad) but I am sold on this forever! I remember i the reviews on this topper some people said it felt like they were sleeping on what clouds would feel like and I thought that was kind of corny and ridiculous and even remember thinking I wonder if they pay people to write their reviews ....well, I get it now and I can assure you I am not getting paid a dime for this I am just this passionate about it and want everyone considering this to know-. I can't rave enough about this thing, I want to steal my sons bed now and I loved mine and never thought I would find another I liked even half as much and this is literally on a terribly uncomfortable bed underneath that amazing cloudliek topper. Clearly, it goes without saying at this point that I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone if you are looking for something soft and that you sink into but not in a hurt your back kind of way just perfectly and it will cause you to want to stay in bed - it even has cooling for when you get hot and for gods sake it comes with a 10 year warranty -I just can't even! I mean who does that! Well worth it, I am going to purchase one for myself and my guest room! That is all and enjoy your best decision!

Mattress topper: I started looking into mattress toppers after I started having sleepless nights because of my bed becoming worn out and uneven. After some research- I found this topper was one of the higher rated and most purchased on Amazon, so I decided to give it a try. I was worried with how uneven my bed was, I would feel it through the topper. Thankfully, this was not the case. The topper filled in any uneven spots and made my mattress feel like new again. I was in such disbelief as I truly thought I would have to buy an entirely new bed. I am very satisfied with this product. The topper I selected with this product also added quite a bit of comfort. I saved money on a a mattress, saved my back, and saved myself from another terrible night of sleep.

Please read!! My bed was done. Dead. Grave yard dead. It was a barely used bed from my parents given to me after my divorce. That was 8 years ago, and I never did learn to sleep all over the bed. My indentation on the right was significant and my sleep, back and neck started suffering horribly. My growing son needed the new bed most and so he's all set. I'm thrilled. He's thrilled 😁 Then my son said, "Mom, Let's go buy you a fluffy bed now!" What to do? That was so not in our budget....but something had to be done, quickly. Soon after, I was awake at 4:30am. I was so frustrated and exhausted that I got up and turned my Queen mattress over by myself and by the grace of God. With my back aching, I sat on the 'bed'. It was slats of wood, hard and unyielding. Perfect! I just needed a good topper and I could be just fine for a few years. I got my coffee, sat down and opened Amazon. I started reading reviews. I narrowed my search to Prime and kept searching and reading. I found one! It was much less expensive and I added it to my cart. My eye caught more toppers. Wow! People had really done their homework! Then I found Sleep Innovations 4 inch Dual topper. Yes, it was more expensive- quite a bit more, but with the horrid 'bed' it would top I knew I needed all the topper I could get! Sleep Innovations put together a memory foam thick enough to hopefully make me forget what was underneath and the down cover (which my family loves to sleep on) I knew would feel like clouds. I put it in my cart, removing the cheaper product and ordered. Voila! It was at my doorstep before 8pm that very day!! Hooray for Prime! I promptly laid out the memory foam- quite easy for one person although it was heavy! It had an odor and really needed to air out for a few days. I was anxious so I I put the fan on high, sprayed it with Lysol and let it be for 3 hours. The Memory Foam felt substantial- firm yet yielding just enough. I got very excited- this really just might work! I had heard that the Memory Foam could make you very hot while you are sleeping. As a woman who has hot flashes AND lives in Florida, I desperately hoped the reviews were correct for the Memory Foam; that it did not get hot. I would soon find out. Bedtime! I put the pillow top on and I say on the bed. Ok, 'Now' I thought, 'we are really getting somewhere!!' So nice! I quickly put the sheets on and crawled into my new bed. It Worked!!! I had a new bed!!! For such a low price!! I truly believe only this product could save my bed. It also saved my budget and kept me from having to sleep on the floor or an air mattress. I'm sure this will last me many years!!

---------- Update - 3/8/17: I did get the complete set when they shipped me a replacement. As far as what the product is like, I'm not really impressed. It definitely looks like it should be very comfortable: the topper is suitably puffy and the foam is very dense, and it fits my queen sized bed perfectly (which seems to be rare with mattress pads, ever other one I've ever had has come short of the edge of the bed). That said, I cannot get comfortable on it. It is not supportive and despite the topper, it really, *really* retains heat, more than any gel/foam pad I've ever had. I can no longer sleep covered up because I get so hot, and I'm a very cold-natured person. I've also had problems with my lower back since using it; by about 3-4 am, it's hurting like crazy. All in all, if it weren't so difficult to repackage, I would have sent this back. I'm making myself use it because it was a costly purchase, but I'm not sure how much longer my back will allow me to do so. End Update --------------- I should have listened to the reviews/questions asked about this topper, but I thought, what were the chances, *really*, that I would not get the plush fiber top like other folks? Turns out, 100%. I opened the box and saw white cloth rolled up between the gel pad and though that was top part to the pad set, and cut open the plastic holding the gel pad in its compact form so that it could expand, and nope. The cloth was just a cloth packed in with the gel pad. There was no fiber topped, like many others said happened to them. When I contacted Amazon, they wanted me to repack the gel pad and send it back, but there's no WAY that's happening, it's four times the size it was originally because it's decompressed now! I am currently awaiting a new order in the hopes that the whole set is there so that I can take the fiber topper from that and send back the still-compressed gel pad, thereby fulfilling the requirements of replacement, but I'm not holding my breath. If the topper is missing from the second set, I will have to send both back, and I honestly have no idea how I'm going to ship that decompressed pad. I'm sure not going to pay extra for a larger box when the error is not on my end. Today is Wednesday and the new order should be here on Friday, I will update once that order arrives. In the photos: You can see the white cloth between the gel rolls - it is NOT the fiber topper. The sticker show is on the outside of the plastic holding the gel pad; it even says on it that it should be two parts. There were also obvious signs of something else once being attached to this - tape and more plastic - that I assume had something to do with that missing topper.

We experienced this product when renting a condo in Florida. It was so comfortable that we purchased one for ourselves when we got home. We had purchased a new bed and decided that it was just too hard. We like firm, and we thought the pillow top would have had more comfort for our bones. It didn't. The Sleep Innovations on top of the new firm mattress is heavenly. Another perspective: the setup in Florida was this product applied to a 6" piece of foam (not memory) resting on a platform. Personally, I like the give of a more standard mattress better than the 6" foam. But you could create a wicked good sleeping experience cheaply with this product and solid hunk of foam. This product is great, but be aware: it will not solve the problems of a sagging old mattress. It needs to be supported properly. Putting it over a king mattress with a couple of deep dents will still leave you with a sway back. Read the directions, follow them. The memory foam must fully expand by itself. Just open it up on a flat surface and leave it alone. And you may want to do that in a room where you can open the windows and shut the door. It really does smell. But, the odor is completely gone in a week or two. Also, the topper/pad thing that goes on top is not really 2". But it is nice and the result is a soft cushion between you and something foamy and synthetic. Below is my previous 1 star review based on delivery issues. "And what is the recourse with Amazon? We just keep asking for a replacement and we get 1/2 the order shipped. Twice our mother (yes this was a gift (: received just the mattress pad topper - no memory foam! This is so frustrating because Amazon is so caught up in efficiency they have lost the ability to directly connect with their customers. A week ago I was a huge Amazon fan. Now I am an embarrassed angry consumer." Update: finally a complete order was shipped and received. After an on line chat, I got someone's attention. At that point the issue gained some priority. Not so angry anymore. Another update: we recommended this to a friend. Today she received just the memory foam - no topper!!!!! This is ironically weird. The robots are out of control.
