the over the door hook made me mad at first because i didn't think i would be able to close the door. its this plastic clip that you have to stretch open wide enough to fit over your door. problem is, the bend makes it stick up too far to close the door. a friend of mine has a hoop like this for his son and told me to push it down and close the door, and leave it closed over night. the plastic actually conforms to the door. and it worked! we can open and close the door just fine now. it would be nice if it came with some kind of instructions explaining this. despite my initial frustration, i am giving 5 stars because my son absolutely loves it! i didn't know how sturdy it was going to be, but it has lasted a few weeks of slam dunks so far. i love that it comes with good balls. they come deflated so you use the included pump to blow them up. the balls bounce good and are about the size of a baseball. great purchase for my 8 yr old son! ... show more

We bought one for Christmas. It broke with a child's hand touching it. I assumed it was an unlucky result and reordered. The new one broke with just the weight of the ball striking it (with no one touching it directly). The rim is too flimsy for a basket even for the lightest play. it should be used with a soft foam ball only - the balls that come with it are too heavy. I bought this so my 10 year old would have something to aim at instead of just throwing a ball against the wall. And of course, he shouldn't be throwing a ball against the wall, but whatever - now he's not. We just got it for a fun summer diversion, and everyone has been enjoying it. It's in our foyer attached to the front door. No problems getting it over the door. I forgot that a pump was included - nice touch! ... show more

Initially we liked the product - the inflatable balls are nice and our kids enjoyed it. However, the plastic easily broke where the hoop attaches to the backboard. The hoop inevitably will have some bumps and pressure applied to it and the plastic will fail - it just isn't strong enough. For over $20 this should last longer than a couple weeks. I remember every boy having one of these small bball hoop sets in their rooms while I was growing up. They would hang them up within range of their bed and practice tossing them from their bed. My son was no different. He instinctually decided that was the best place for it. However he had a textured wall and ceiling so it didn't stick that great. We used his bedroom door and it worked. We have also used it for points when studying for a quiz. When he got a question right, he got to shoot. We even used it to play a version of HORSE for his spelling words. Meaning the product was so cheaply made I wouldn't even give it to my grandsons as a stocking stuffer or secondary gift. My wife and I were so disappointed by what we saw when we opened our Amazon box that we didn't even remove the hoop from it's packaging. We knew immediately it was going back. I teach second grade, and wanted a small hoop for games and inside recess. I like that this hoop has a flat back, making it easy to Velcro to my cabinets. It is good quality, and it’s a bonus that it comes with 3 inflatable balls. As long as the kids aren’t dunking on it, this should last me through the year. ... show more
