Kids keep stealing it cause they can play basketball after dark. That's great but this is the second one I've had to purchase in the summer. The kids act like moths to a flame with this ball. The teens like it too because it's not too far off from a court ball. it's a rec ball for outside play of course. I just sprayed the hoop with glow in the dark paint and they play for hours. I haven't had to replace the batteries because someone takes it home when I'm not around so I give up. The light is pretty bright. These are great Christmas gifts I guess. For every grad party (I have had 4) they play for hours so it keeps the boredom down for teens. Good grip and bounce. Good purchase.

What can I say - it's a full size basketball that glows in the dark!! How cool is that!! We bought this for our 14-year old son who loves it. Initially, it didn't seem that bright when we first played around with it. The truth is, once it gets dark out and you let your eyes adjust a little, the ball is more than bright enough to be easily seen from quite a distance away (you could make a 1/2 court shot with no issues assuming you can find the hoop). During the day, our son and his buddies will typically use a normal outdoor (rubber) basketball to play around with. As soon as it starts to get dark though, they grab this ball and keep going. It definitely feels like a full size basketball (both size and weight) and dribbles well too. Of course, the best part, shooting baskets with it! Nothing like watching an orange glowing orb fly through the air towards an almost invisible basketball hoop. It's been such a great purchase, we even have neighbor kids who will come down the street to use our basketball hoop simply so they can use the glow-in-the-dark ball. The simple version - it adds about 1-2 hours more goof off time at night versus stopping basketball when it gets dark out. You know that beautiful time of night during the summer when the kids want to stay out and play, but it's too dark to see. Well, that's not a problem for us anymore. Honestly - this basketball has been used about 3 nights a week since it's been nice out. Heck, even the adults aren't able to just sit back and watch - everyone wants to join in and play. Great product!! You won't be disappointed.

I picked up the GlowCity Light Up Basketball to test for my tech and lifestyle reviews, and it’s been a hit! The ball uses two internal LEDs that activate on impact—every bounce or dribble lights it up with a bright glow (red in my case). I took it to an outdoor court at night, and it was a game-changer; the visibility is excellent, and it made playing after dark so much fun. The ball itself is a standard size 7 with a good grip, so it performs well for actual gameplay—I didn’t notice any difference in weight or balance compared to a regular basketball. The LEDs are powered by pre-installed batteries, and after a few hours of use, they’re still going strong (GlowCity claims 30 hours of life). My only issue is that the lights can be a bit distracting during serious games, but for casual play, it’s perfect. Great for kids, teens, or anyone who loves a unique sports experience!

Bought this for my stepsons 10th birthday ... He uses it almost daily, still!! It's a great size, the material has a nice grip and is not plastic like other light up balls. We've only had to replace the batteries twice in a year.

We bought this for a ten year old my wife tutors. Over the past year he has grown about a foot and for some strange reason is now all about basketball. This looks like a basketball, it feels like a basketball, it handles like a basketball...and it lights up! Who could possibly ask for more? If this is not his hands-down favorite gift this Christmas I will be absolutely gobsmacked (and in that case I may just take it back and shoot a few evening hoops myself!). We really don't expect that the batteries will last too long so we found a pack of 200 of those little suckers here on Amazon for less than 14 bucks and are including them with the ball. That should keep it glowing for some time to come. Inflation was a breeze and it seems to be holding air just fine. No complaints here - only praise - and we know one young man who is going to be very, very happy. BTW - the web page says it comes with twelve batteries and it does, but we assumed that twelve batteries would be how many it takes. It only takes six, so it comes with a set already installed and a second set. Pleasantly surprised - and having purchased additional batteries before we knew that, he'll now have enough batteries to replace them 34 times!

The ball quality is average, but given he price, expected. If you buy this, you are buying it for the fun factor not a quality leather indoor/outdoor leather ball replacement. The LED is wonderful at first - very bright - and very much a lot of fun. However, the batteries begin to fade rather quickly (10-15 uses) and this is where the problem begins. While the ball is shipped with replacement batteries and a removal tool, the LED assemblies (2 per ball) are very difficult to remove (be sure to partially deflate the ball to make it easier) but in doing so, the easily bent metal of the LED assembly (where the batteries are held) is easily bent and disfigured. If you are able to get the LED out without damage, you are likely to find that the LED simply no longer work. Of the 3 balls we purchase one had both LED's simply fail, and two had one of the LED's fail. Ultimately, we ended up with only one working ball having 2 LED's that worked after changing batteries. So in conclusion - if you are looking for a short term "party" purchase and don't have expectations of longevity this product will be just fine. If you are looking for durability - look elsewhere.
