  • Skyrim VR is Real!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: VR
This is AAA VR gaming. I’ve played Skyrim on multiple consoles, hundreds of hours (sadly), and done just about every quest. And yet, this VR experience breaths new life into the game. Everywhere you turn you see things from a new perspective. Everything is the same, but somehow different. Halls are greater and dungeons deeper. The graphics are not great, but that is to be expected if you’ve played any PSVR games. Many here seem to be complaining about the controls. You don’t have to teleport and you can move backwards. I play with the move controllers the most but keep the dual shock ontroller at my feet (sitting) to do extensive menu usage. It all works fairly well with practice. Also, be sure to center your view with the dual shock otherwise you’ll experience issues with your weapons disappearing or your position in the perks menu being off center. You can improve the motion control tracking by playing with the curtains drawn and the lights off. There is an issue where you may randomly draw your weapons, but this is also avoidable by keeping your fingers away from the triggers. As far as the VR sickness goes, I played for 5 plus hours today without feeling it. I couldn’t play Robinson the Journey for more than 10 minutes without experiencing severe nausea. Skyrim reduces your field of vision only during movement and this can be customized. They have created great mechanics here to improve comfort. My most enjoyable moments have been swinging my sword and bashing with my shield. Combat is just crazy fun whereas it never was that impressive in the original game. This is a must buy if you love Skyrim and PSVR. If you never played Skyrim before you’re in for a real treat and I envy you. ... show more

  • The absolute must-own PSVR game!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: VR
Anyone who has played Skyrim in the past knows how amazing this game is. For anyone who hasn't, this will be the gaming adventure of a lifetime. Beyond this game, the only one for PSVR that I consider a must-own is Resident Evil: Biohazard. There are many other fun games currently out (Megaton Rainfall, Super Hot, Eve Valkyrie, etc) but Resident Evil was the best game available before Skyrim. However, I understand that horror isn't for everyone, and Resident Evil is definitely not for the weak-at-heart. Skyrim has far and away taken #1 spot for best PSVR game. Skyrim, unlike Resident Evil, is for anyone. With so many ways to play, Skyrim will give every experience a new fresh slate whether it's your 10th new game or your first. But on PSVR, it gives Skyrim life as you've never experienced before in gaming. This is a true open-world RPG where you are in full control, in real-time, in virtual reality. Like any Bethesda game, you have to expect a few bugs or crashes along the way. Save often, but putting aside the obvious minor issues you'll face, here are my only critiques: 1. I understand how certain people can find the graphics lackluster. For a six year old game, I was more than impressed on my PS Pro but it surely isn't as crystal clear as it would be on PC with graphical enhancement mods. 2. As someone highly susceptible to motion sickness, it took awhile to get comfortable playing Eve Valkyrie and Rigs. However with Resident Evil I never once experienced motion sickness. I attributed it to hours of game-play with other games, but with Skyrim I unfortunately started feeling it about 45 minutes in. Immediately took a couple hour break and tried again only to feel it again with 20 minutes. After a good night sleep, I attempted it again this morning and felt fine after an hour. Motion sickness is something you can get over with continued play but it's not fun when you experience it. 3. Controls using the motion controllers take time getting used to. I mis-clicked quite a few times but was finally getting the hang of it proficiently on my third play. It's also not easy to back-up using a bow. Or you give up using your shield/weapon in your hand used for backing up. Upgraded controllers would help with movement greatly. Outside of that, I can list 100 positives. As long as you go into this with an open mind, knowing it's six years old, knowing you'll come across a few bugs here and there, knowing the controls aren't perfect, then this will be the best gaming experience you ever have. ... show more

  • You are DRAGONBORN
Platform For Display: PlayStation 4 Edition: VR
This game is literally the reason I bought a PSVR. I'll never forget the first time I turned it on and took a look around me... it was so breathtaking and amazing!! I have loved this game since it's release on PS3 and I have spent WAYYY too much of my life playing it so Skyrim feels like a second home to me, but I found that you haven't really played Skyrim until you've played Skyrim VR! Now, truth be told, the graphics aren't overwhelmingly incredible (closer to PS3 than PS4, but I also don't have a PS4 Pro yet, that could make a difference) and it took me some time to adjust to the headset and screen/visuals, but after I did it was so beautiful and wonderful to turn your head and see Whiterun and Riften and the other towns alive around you. It really gives you the feeling of being in Skyrim. I used the normal PS4 controller and not the move controllers and I still felt immersed. Bottom line: This game is a must have for all PSVR owners and Skyrim devotees! ... show more
