Description

SKIL 10 AMP Fixed Base Router (RT1323-00)Speed control dial provides the right speed for the material, and LED lights on the motor base illuminates the work area. My other router is very old and although it works like new, it is not compatible with nearly anything these days in the way of accessories. I really wanted a router table for so many reasons. I almost bought a combo that was over twice the price and I am really glad I found this first. The assembly was very easy even for a router table novice like me. The manuals are clearly written and were easy to follow. I had watched a review video where the person was really impressed in the ability/quality versus price. I paid attention to the items he pointed out to see if I saw the same on my router/table combo. I feel he was very honest in his statements. He did state the fence was not very strong and he didn't recommend for jointing. Perhaps they updated the fence since his was released, but the one that came with mine seems very sturdy. Two items I am very glad this combo boasts is above table height adjustment and it comes with a starting pin. I really didn't see much mention of the pin when reading the description. I only was interested to see if it was included after watching some videos to help me get the most out of my new tool. It appears having a starting pin in a router table is a wanted feature. Skil should make more mention of it if even just a sentence. I really like the router as well. The video mentioned it has a slow startup which is another item that is desired in the router community. The manual quickly walked me through getting it all set up. Attaching it to the mounting plate was really easy as was attaching the mounting plate to the table. I will be honest, the router is most likely in its permanent home. As my older router is still very versatile and came with a good assortment of accessories to include a plunger. I just can't use any of the more modern attachments so this router may get the occasional reprieve. The fence does have a vacuum hookup point. Thanks to keeping the hose from my first shop vac that was much smaller than my current one, I can join the hose from old and new and it adapts to the port perfectly. I made a few test cuts tonight and most all of the chips were whisked away to leave a nearly spotless work top. I will admit that some of the pieces are not high grade. The video I watched did point this out. My take on it is that this set is a value set (for lack of a better term) and you cannot expect solid gold fittings milled to within a millionth of an inch for the price point this unit is. Believe me, I am not complaining. This set is for hobby only so I am not needing professional grade. Honestly, I have seen similar comments about included items on much pricier router/table combos. I am grateful Skil included so much for such a great price. This will suit my needs and then some. One item that Skil could fix somewhat easily is the fact that when the router is in the table and you need to remove it, you have to lift up the table to get enough clearance to remove the router for bit changes. As I am going to build a custom stand for this unit, I will recess the center to make it easier to remove and replace the router motor. I really like the storage on the sides. They are just cubbies, but I will take that over the space being wasted and not utilized at all. The test passes I made tonight turned out great. Thanks to actually researching I learned the bit I have in the router needed a slower speed due to its width. Again the included manuals really helped a novice out. The router worked great and did not sound like it was strained in the slightest. As the router has lights on it for hand use, they do also light up here. I am not sure how useful that will be, but at minimum it does light up the workspace in the most important area, the finger eliminator. In my opinion, I feel this is an excellent value with very good quality. I would say expect to get what you pay for however I think you get you get far more than what the price tag implies you will get in quality and included items. ... show more

    • Good tool for the price.
For what you pay this is a very nice tool. I used this to make pieces for kitchen cabinets including tongue and groove for five foot section of plywood bottom. You do have to be careful working with large pieces. The feathering blocks included very very helpful for holding wood in place while routing edges. Took was straight forward to assemble out of the box. Just make sure you line up the height adjustment on router to the correct hole and everything is easier. Router itself worked fine. I like the slow start motor and light. I used a Home Depot bucket head vacuum to help clear sawdust, seemed that work reasonably well. I do recommend hooking up some kind of dust collection system to make it easier to see your work. Tool has two outlets built into switch on table, so you can make vacuum and router come on together if you want. Clamped table to workbench using one c-clamp and had no troubles with my work. However, better to use two clamps or bolt it down if you can. Storage areas are handy. “Quick” change and mounting not all that quick and you should check that connections and settings are secure while you work as things can shake loose with any router systems. I did not have any issues with bits floating up or down, so clamps and settings worked well for me. The fence system also worked well for my project, but I can see where it may not be suited for very fine detail work. However, for table and router I don’t think you can beat the price. ... show more

    • The router is amazing. The Fence is "ok" but can flex. Storage area collects a ton of dust.
I was able to pick this up for a very reasonable price on sale. Under $135 and so for it has worked very well with only a few negatives. ROUTER 1. The full-size Skil router comes with a 1/4" collet and a 1/2" fixed bit fitting 2. has a removable plastic dust deflector 3. Extremely well-built, sturdy, and rugged. 4. It easily fits into the table mount and the height can be adjusted from the router itself or an adjustment port on the tabletop TABLE 1. The top is smooth and the wood moves freely when routing 2. The measurement lines are accurate but wear off quickly - CON 3. The fence works very well, however, it has a lot of flex because of the plastic dust collection area at the center. 4. The plastic legs have storage for all your bits and tools - worthless and just collect tons of dust and do not securely hold anything. The doors swing open easily and are just a hassle. 5. The dust port has a plastic bar in the center to block large pieces from going through into your collector. This just makes it clog easily. 6. Dust collection is poor. It needs a dual port system like Milescraft makes to bring that percentage up to 80-90% Despite the negatives, there is a lot you get for the price of this small table. The price is unbeatable for what you get and most of the isses can be fixed with just a few adaptations. ... show more

I didn't expect this quality at the price. While shopping for a router table, this table and router combination caught my eye. I have used Skil tools all my life and am still impressed with the both the table and the router. The router is light duty but has all the features I needed. The router will use both 1/4 and 1/2 inch bits, has variable speed, simple height control and sturdy base. Mounting the router on the table is easy and the above table height adjustment is a breeze. The table top is ample size with a fence that is easy to adjust and is more than adequate for the table. The on table storage for tools and accessories is icing on the cake. Is it the best router table you can get? No. But for a table/router combo for only $200 it is fantastic. I used it on hard maple, walnut, and poplar and it did a great job. There was some tear out but that was not the fault of the router. If you are looking for a 1st router table, it's hard to go wrong with this one. Easy assembly too. ... show more
