  • Flooring must have
Style: Flooring Saw
I first watched several videos on usage and reviews. It was overall described as pretty good, but said to not perform well on 3/4 inch hardwood flooring. Well 3/4 hardwood is what I install the most and instead of taking multiple tools to the job site to do this job I only took this one. This is a review by a real installer and I was very pleased with the saw and got excellent results. I set the saw up in a corner of the room I was working in and worked without a problem. Great product and I would recommend and I plan to use on the next job I have. As I said this is a real review by a real installer. The only downside is that this product kicks out a lot of dust, the dust bag that comes with it barely catches anything. However I did attach my shop vac and it was a game changer. When installing hardwood floors you need a very clean area and I used the saw attached to the vacuum and had no problem. Everytime I would make about five cuts I'd disconnect the shop vac and clean the area I was cutting at. Very simple and easy to do. I bought extra blades because I heard that it would need it, but I never had to change my blade. Also I would recommend cutting with the underside faced up and at a non hurried paced. Too fast will give a jagged egde, too slow will leave burn marks on the wood. And my last honest recommendation is to use some ear protection. It is on the loud side.... Light weight and easy to carry, easy to keep clean. For notch cutting, such as an L cut into a work piece, I used a scrap piece first to find where the blade starts and the marked my saw with a piece of tape and an arrow. The guard system makes it hard to see where the blade starts to cut. Overall it's a great product and I hope this review helps. ... show more

  • Solid power, works well, good amperage, super messy.....
Style: Flooring Saw
The media could not be loaded. I am a interior trim carpenter that also does quite a bit of hardwood.... well engineered hardwood. I have a buddy that has one of these and he’s had it for years. I personally have never used it but have seen it on his jobs in passing. He’s had his for 5 or so years. I’m always looking for ways to improve time and workability on my sites. I purchased this saw to keep from having to unload my table saw and my 12 sliding miter saw. I always buy quality tools and price tag isn’t ever really a issue, so when I purchased this Skil brand saw out of the gate I figured it would be cheap. Here’s the details of first usage. You can also watch my video review as well. The Saw is packaged well in what I would call standard packaging for this type of product. Opening and unboxing is a simple task. This saw comes completely assembled minus installing the dust bag. At first glance it seems well built and pretty solid. The saw it self has a cheap plastic housing over the motor but that doesn’t seem to effect the unit. The table guide is where you get the most out of this saw. The guide sets up to the side of the motor for rip cuts. It has a marker on it and making adjustments is just the turn of a finger knob. When the table builds dust just after a few cuts the guide doesn’t slide nicely at all, making quick adjustments not so great. I think I’ll spray it with dry lube and see if that helps. I ran my cuts thru finished side up and the cut was clean. Chippage was minimal, actually good enough to cover with base board. The guide moves to the front of the unit and can be used for cross cuts and miters. There are pre set stops for 90, 45 and 22 1/2. This works smoothly and well. When I cross cut my board it cut just fine. Minimal chipping. Good enough unless it’s going up against a finished stairnose or something. The biggest issue was when we used it to cut on a miter. With my board face up it chipped my board really bad. When I put the board face down it didn’t do it. We will have to cut our miters face down. The only downside is this thing is messy. In 4 cuts dust everywhere. We will need to find a way to use dust containment or it will be a outdoor saw only. The verdict...... it’s a keeper. As cheap as it is price wise I don’t think we can beat the time it will save us. Doesn’t bog down and cuts in all directions that usually take 2 saws for. I’m hoping that it has some pretty good longevity. We will know better next week when we do 4000 ft of wood with it. • A must have for DIY flooring
Style: Flooring Saw
This thing is great. Does exactly what we were hoping it would. Laid new Lifeproof Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring from Home Depot in our upstairs using this saw. Made the whole process a lot easier and faster having this right in the work space and not having to go to the garage or outside to make cuts. Did most of the cuts for us except for some of the notching around door jambs and stuff like that. Original blade held up well to this flooring. Finished all of it with the original blade and it was still cutting well. Overall we felt like this was well worth the price. ... show more

  • Handles New Style Flooring Such As...
Style: Flooring Saw
Bought this for my father in October of 2017 so he could install 700 sq feet of flooring in their home. The flooring was Adura Max, Mannington Residential, Advanced Vinyl Plank, 6"x48"x1/4" thick. Really pretty stuff. Waterproof, scratchproof, oopsproof...as it says on the box. He's been a self taught home remodel expert for 40+ years so he knows his stuff you could say. He said this saw made the job quicker and easier and hands down was worth every last penny spent. "For the price, you can't beat it." Very handy saw that handled the flooring product with ease. Nice and compact, easy storage, easy set up, overall good product. Only negative, if you can call it that, would be the collection of dust and debris could be better. But as my father says, "I have yet to use a saw of any kind that doesn't make some kind of mess." ... show more

  • BEST tool purchase I've ever made !!
Style: Flooring Saw
Awesome purchase, I bought this saw to do laminate wood flooring and room moulding, etc in my house, could not be happier. Just finished a 500 sq ft room, moving onto the next room. The fence changes out quickly, from normal cut to ripping position, and the provided rip board pushing tool makes it that much safer. Keep the box it comes in, it works great to put the saw on top of while working on flooring ! EXCELLENT tool, my compliments to SKIL design staff for this great handy beyond belief saw. ... show more

  • Great for laying Laminate
Style: Flooring Saw
Installed laminate flooring using this saw over the weekend. PROS - Very east to use - Easy to set up - Portable - Better than buying a table saw AND a miter saw CONS - Can only rip laminate along one side (not reversible and not enough clearance for wide boards) Get a ShopVac for your project, it will greatly reduce the dust. ... show more
