The unit is very user friendly. It's easy to set up. The little bubble on the back of it allows you set level. I have tried to set level and lock the laser, my hands are not steady enough to do that. But, I have used to for hanging a railing on the steps keeping a consistent angle. It works great for putting a line where you need it. When you have it in float, the laser will find its own level. Awesome tool for anyone needing to get super accurate, level readings, even on broad daylight. This level comes with a sturdy stand and was easy to use right out of the box. It has "X" cross hairs so you can get accurate 90 degree measurements. Definetely recommend!

First and foremost, I believe this is the best bang for your buck for a solid unit. Granted, I don't have a lot of experience but have fiddled with 200 dollar units from Bosch and Dewalt. As some other reviews have mentioned, it's major flaw is that the level has to be pretty much at the height you want your line as it doesn't have much room for error/self leveling. The controls may require a little getting used to - they are somewhat complicated such as getting the unit to turn off... The range capability listed is questionable - at least not in a well lit area. Overall, great unit if you can get is under 50 bucks and tackling a small job for any DIYer. The laser level works great and is very easy to use and I highly recommend it. It worked well to line up curtains mounted near the ceiling around a 25'x15' room with the laser level in a corner and the line being easy to see on all the walls. The only thing I would like to see changed is the power switch could have a bit less resistance to toggle, currently, you really need to hold it still with one handle while turning it on and off to prevent moving it. This is a minor thing and really only applies if you are trying to turn it off and resume later without the line moving, and this is mostly just for the vertical line as the horizontal one stays pretty stable either way. The tripod is a great addition that is important to have so you can finely adjust things like the exact height of the line. The tripod itself I would put around 3/4 stars as it will be good enough for most needs but is on the shakier end as far as tripods go. For the average person though, it will be more than good enough unless you need the level line higher up, I had to set it on tabletops to get it high enough for picture frames. That said it can be easily used with any tripod mount to improve this laser level greatly, but I would consider it more of an added bonus than the core product so don't let it influence your purchase decision directly, it is better to have it than not for sure. ... show more
