  • Good value for the money
This guy is bigger than I thought, so I immediately thought that I got a better deal for my money than I expected. I use this to hold RGB panel lights for backlights in video, but I can also stretch it for it to work for a hair/rim light. If I wasn't using wireless mics, I'd use it to hold a shotgun mic. It's pretty stout, and I'd guess that it could hold 20lbs at full extension indefinitely. I wish there was a way to lock the swing into place, but as long as no one touches it, it shouldn't move anywhere. Just like with light stands, it's easy to adjust, and it stores pretty flat against the wall. It still sticks out a little bit when its put away, but it's not something thats actually a big deal. I liked it enough that I bought a second one, and then a couple from a different brand to see how they will stack up against it. I'm hoping to get enough of these mounted and working that I never have to use a light stand in the room that I shoot interviews ever again. ... show more

  • Was just the lighting support I needed
I bought this to anchor on a wall in the corner where I do tabletop photography in my studio. It can easily hold either my small soft box or LED lighting panel, depending upon my subject matter. I can easily adjust it into position quickly. Once everything is set to my liking, it's steady throughout the entire shoot. Good stuff. ... show more

  • Nice arm for lighter weight gear
This is a nice little boom arm for wall mounting a light - its a decent build for shorter reaches and lighter weight fixtures. The advertising on this is a bit of a challenge - one image shows the arm holding a ring light over the face of a client while mounted to a wall beyond their feet and the end of the table - the arm is only 43" long - so the would only work for very short people... but the idea is valid. The arm is fairly well built and is very functional - its limited to 6.6 LBS on the mount and that's pushing the clamp for the angle adjustment a bit - it tends to slip at higher loads. The clamps on the telescoping arm seem to be fine. The mounting plate is wide enough and tall enough to distribute the loads to the wall fairly well but it could be too much for just using drywall anchors - hitting a stud or attaching to a more solid wall would be better. If it has to be on drywall, use larger anchors that open behind the drywall for added support. A pro strobe head (not a self contained unit) can weigh near 4.5 LBS without a reflector or soft box, so check your actual weight on what you are hoping to mount - for lighter gear its great. I do like that it can telescope back to a very short arm and stay near the wall when needed. Nice arm for lighter gear and short reaches. ... show more
