I know these seem expensive for plastic dishes......but they really are properly designed and well made. They solve every microwave cooking mess problems and allow for cooking to eating to refrigerating left overs all in one container. They DO stain with tomato stuff but what plastic doesn't? Perfect for soup. This sturdy cooking container is made out of heat-resistant plastic. That is the main feature that differentiate this container from the regular plastic lunch containers. Yes, you can heat your soup in your normal plastic lunch container, but you will notice that the plastic will become soft. Let me confess that I have never had any of my lunch containers soften to the point of melting in the microwave. Even so, I feel uneasy when I take out the container from the microwave and find that the plastic has softened. This Sistema container is different. It is made out of heat resistant plastic. Even when the liquid inside is very hot, it does not soften. I have used this bowl to make Ramen noodles and the plastic stayed hard. I am a fan of the Rubbermaid Lunchblox series. The Lunchblox are my go-to containers for cold foods. I carry hot foods, like soup, in stainless steel Thermos containers. There are times when I need to pack food that will need to be heated prior to eating. Foods like Ramen noodles and chili. And those situations call for a container that can be used inside the microwave. Most plastics will go soft. But this Sistema will not. You can use this to make soup in your microwave at work. It is also less likely to show stains from tomato based foods and sauces. Most plastic containers will stain if you use them to carry tomato sauce. This one is opaque. If it stains, you will not see it. Important. Please keep in mind that this container is not spill-resistant. You will not find a rubber gasket on the lid. This is not a CARRYING container. It is a COOKING/HEATING container. If you want soup, you will need to carry it in a separate liquid-proof container. Transfer the soup to this bowl prior to heating. Heat and enjoy. This is what I do for soups. I carry the soup in its original, unopened container. When lunch time comes, I empty the soup into this bowl and heat on the microwave. Please do not use this Sistema bowl as a carrying container. It will leak. Think of it as a portable cooking pot. Highly recommended, but please use it for its intended purpose. ... show more

Same condition as when I bought them and I use them everyday. Not so stylish for a table dinner but my husband and I are aging. We don't care about pretty plates . These containers are not ugly but function well for us.

These really are great containers. My husband went to get something out of the fridge and this accidentally fell on the floor. It was loaded with soup, and some of the soup spilled out of the side of the lid (the container was still closed). I looked, and it seemed to have been missing the rubber gasket. I called the company to see if I could purchase another gasket, and to this day they have not returned my call as they said they would. SO... I ordered another. This one came with NO GASKET... now every other Sistema container I have (and I have many) has a gasket... apparently this one doesn't. My husband just didn't put the lid on properly. I purchased this one for nothing... but I'll eventually use it, so I'm going to keep it. ... show more

The Sistema Microwave Noodle Bowl is my FAVORITE tool when cooking in the microwave. I use it daily for heating up or cooking just about anything. The lid snaps tight securely. And there's a flip-switch at the top for regulating steam. It doesn't have a handle like most, and this actually helps it cook more evenly as it rotates in the microwave. One thing that really sets this one apart from so many others of its ilk is that the bowl is constructed of very thick plastic, which makes it sturdier and also helps heat food more evenly inside it. I highly recommend buying this product. I use it specifically for cooking my breakfast oatmeal. I'd be lost without it. In fact , my cholesterol has now been normal for the past two physicals. Customer service was very helpful and the product arrived in about one week , far exceeding their delivery date by 3 weeks! I purchased this same product about 4 years ago and it's still in excellent condition. I decided to buy another one for stock , as I rely on it so much. Sturdy , easy to clean and good for the price.
