Description

Tilt heads are a perfect solution for levelling the camera, and are especially effective as a partner to a monopod. The Siri L-20S 2-Way Pan/Tilt Head can be tilted by 90 degrees in two directions, with an etched scale to help with positioning. A built-in spirit level helps with camera alignment. Possibly one of the best showcases of the engineering craftsmanship SIRUI has become renowned for the L-20 tilt head perfectly displays the forged aluminum with CNC milling and beautiful surface finish. The incredible attention to detail and quality make these heads suitable for professional photographers and enthusiasts alike. Both models feature and Arce-style quick release plate, making them compatible with a wide range of plates and easy to integrate into your system. With this sliding plate arrangement is also a Safety Lock system, preventing any accidental slippage of the plate. The precise workmanship of all of the controls enables particularly smooth and effective locking and unlocking of the individual components of SIRUI L series tilt heads. New to the range, the L-20S adds the feature of a 360 degree panning base, complete with etched scale in 5 degree increments, making it easy to accurately set, and to capture a series of images for panoramic photography. I purchased this tilt head with panning base to go with my Gitzo monopod primarily for birding. Some folks might scratch their heads with ..."panning base on a monopod?" Yes, panning base on a monopod. With the Sirui's smooth tilting and panning motion, what I have now is a gimbal action on a monopod without the weight and the awkward and bulky look. No longer having to physically twist my monopod from side to side, I don't have to replace the foot after wearing it out or even losing it. The monopod just stays grounded and I let the Sirui's smoothest tilting and panning motion to take over. I wished that Sirui makes the same product except with the lever QR version, but since no one else makes one I added a RRS lever clamp that worked out really well. Its dimension is almost the same as the Sirui plate that came with the purchase of L-20S. Both combined came to just about the same as buying one RRS Tilt Head, but then the RRS Tilt Head doesn't come with the panning feature, so better value in the end for me. I can always take the RRS lever clamp off for some other function when not out birding. Why this rather expensive addition on top of already high quality Sirui product? When birding, there are many occasions when I need to get my camera off the monopod instantly. Trying to get the camera off from the knob controlled mechanism means losing some important shots as small birds have no patience to wait for you. Been there, done that. I cannot say any more positively about the quality of L-20S with either tilting or panning motion. I also have a ProMediaGear Tomahawk Gimbal, and I tried both on my monopod. No difference in free and smoothest motion, either way. I originally purchased the Tomahawk sidekick for my monopod, but I ended up relegating the Tomahawk to my tripod and went exclusively with the L-20S for my monopod where it sits permanently now. It's knob control for tilting is tension adjustable, so there's no sudden drop of your expensive gear. To me, for the price it's selling at, it's a bargain. ... show more

This is by far one of the best designed mono/tripod heads on the market. It has a base that allows you do 360˚ panning, an extra large Swiss-arca plate and large knobs for easy locking and unlocking. But the best thing is you can change the direction of the platform 90˚ to accommodate an L-Bracket so it can be moved up and down. Just unscrew the nut on top of the platform and turn it. Then retighten the nut with the allen wrench. If they only included a 1/4 to 3/8 screw adapter to attach to the tripod, it would have been perfect! Please send me one! Thanks! ... show more

Like every other part I bought from Sirui, this Head is incredibly well made ! And trust me: I'm an old swiss engineer loving well designed and manufactured parts. The surface finish, the accuracy and smoothness of movements is just astonishing ! No need like many other photo parts manufacturers to cover the head with structured paint in order to conceal the imperfections. No, just pure and smooth hard anodized surfaces, nothing to mask...
