We ordered this SIQ basketball for our daughter for Xmas. She plays competitive AAU basketball and was very excited when she opened up the box! There are a few steps to complete, but the instructions are very clear and easy to follow. We encountered a slight problem with the activation and connecting to the app, but the customer service support for this company is fantastic. They responded via email right away and resolved the issue quickly. Like another reviewer, this was bought for a child whose Android phone is monitored by Google Family Link. Although we've turned off restrictions for him to purchase items on Google Play, when trying to subscribe through the app on his phone, it both won't let us and gives a message that his parents can't either. After much Googling and trying, I couldn't find a workaround that worked for him. I also tried just installing it on my own phone, which would be inconvenient for both him and me. But even while attempting that, I was unable to get the app to connect to the ball via bluetooth despite following the prompts and instructions. This is pretty complicated just to shoot a darn ball through a hoop. For the cost of the ball plus an ongoing subscription, I'm puzzled how this is a thing. Maybe works better for other situations, but was a bust for us and am returning. ... show more

I found this basketball last year while searching for shooting form aids online. I purchased this for my 11- year-old daughter, who was in her 2nd year of playing / practicing basketball. I had some concerns about connecting the ball to my phone. The ball uses Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi to connect, so no concerns about playing on new / different courts. Originally, I liked the idea of tracking shot accuracy with this ball, but over time we really focused on the shot speed data. As a younger player my daughter’s shot was in 1.5- 1.6 seconds at 11 years old. She has focused on generating power and getting her shot speed down. She is now more accurate and consistently released shots around the 0.80-0.85s range. I would recommend this SIQ basketball for anyone working with youth players. Middle school is the time where they gain the strength to change their shot form, this ball will help with the process. We have recently started to look at the global stats tab on the SIQ App. This allows you to see how many shots taken, shots made etc. by anyone who uses the SIQ ball (if they have chosen to share the data via the app Settings). Lastly, I will say anyone who sees us using the ball is amazed at the technology and the low price. ... show more

    • Stopped connecting after a week

Bought this for my fiancé for his birthday. It was initially very challenging to get the ball to connect, but after we got it to connect it worked fine. After a solid week of use, it crashed and we are unable to get it to connect dispute throwing the ball in the air over a hundred times between the two of us. We have removed the app, add it again, toggled between Bluetooth on/off, tried dribbling, spinning, throwing, got a new phone (coincidence), nothing will get this ball to connect. Incredibly frustrating. When it works, it’s amazing and he thoroughly enjoyed it for the week it was working (he plays daily and once a week for a league). I am returning this ball and will try again. Hopefully we don’t have all the same issues. Not sure why the connect option can’t just be in the Bluetooth drop-down menu (and then calibrate after that, once it’s connected). The throwing feature is annoying. ... show more
