  • Not bad but could be better
Over all it does what a winch should do. It comes with everything needed to mount it to a vehicle but the plate. In my case I mounted it to winch plate that fits into a 2" receiver. The bolt holes in the plate matched up perfectly to the winch. The power and ground wires aren't too long so either it needs to be mounted near the vehicle battery or you'll need to get longer wires. The directions are sparce. It doesn't say anything about the battery in the remote other than there's one in it. It's a 12v 23A that isn't too hard to find. The cover is held on with a single screw so it shouldn't fall off while in use. The remoted doesn't look waterproof. It really should be as there's a good chance that it could be wet where you're stuck so your had could be wet or muddy. Also you could drop it. It does work wired or wirelessly so if the battery is dead you can still use the winch. The winch itself is pretty standard. Lots of good second name brand winches on the market. This winch doesn't really stand out as above them. The power wires exit the relay block (mounted to the top of the winch) out the back and right towards the cable drum. Since it's synthetic rope if they rub it shouldn't be an issue but if you ever replace it with wire rope there's the possibility that you could wear through the jacket on the wire. Since these wires carry a lot of current the result wouldn't be good. Other brans have the wires exit higher and straight out the back or out the side. The clutch lever is very stiff. I suspect it will loosen up over time. If you use the remote wirelessly there's caps that go over the connectors for the remote's cable to keep mud out. The winch has an LED light for the drum right above the fairlead. The fairlead, as can be seen in the pictures is just cast aluminum with a smooth rounded opening for the synthetic rope. It also matched up perfectly to the winch plate I had. There's a simple rocker switch to turn the winch on. Nothing will happen unless it's on. You can tell when it's on because the LED will light up the drum. To use it wirelessly you have turn the winch on and then press the power button on the remote to pair it. There's no way to operate the winch other than the remote. So if you lose it or damage it you will need to repair or replace it. The remote is on the small side. It's not small like a key fob but not too large either. It will easily fit into most pockets but I wouldn't mind if it was larger. Since wired is an option I would expect that almost any wired remote could be adapted to work with the winch. One of the issues I have is in the manual. It says you can drain the motor if water gets inside it. Simply removing a plug on the bottom of the motor will allow it to drain. I'm not sure if they are talking about the motor or clutch but neither should ever get water in it. The video said it's rated at IP67. That's waterproof at a depth of about 18 inches for a half hour. I could see someone into serious off roading getting stuck in a water crossing deeper and longer than that. But for the average user it should be good. Over all it looks like a good winch. I was easily able to drag my full sized truck in park across the yard. It didn't sound like it was struggling (which being rated at 13,500 it shouldn't struggle). I'll update this review if over time something comes up. ... show more

  • The Heavyweight Champion of Stump Pulling
I was not prepared for the sheer mass of this Sinoking electric winch when it arrived at my door. Weighing in at fifty four pounds, it is a absolute beast of a machine that felt like it was trying to escape its own packaging. The box looked like it had gone through a round or two with a heavyweight boxer by the time it reached me, though the actual metal hardware inside was fortunately unscathed. We decided to mount this unit onto the front bumper of a friends Jeep to see what that seven horsepower motor could really do. Looking at the photo I took of the installation, you can see how the sleek black casing and the synthetic rope really give the front end a professional and rugged look. The build quality feels incredibly solid and the integrated light on the control box is a genius touch for when you are working in the shadows of a wheel well or late at night. The performance during our first real world test was nothing short of impressive and a little bit scary in the best way possible. We found a stubborn tree stump that had been mocking us in the yard and hooked up the synthetic rope using the wireless remote. It was actually quite funny watching the Jeep settle into its suspension as the winch started to hum, but the three stage gears handled the tension without a single skip or groan. The remote worked flawlessly from a safe distance and the motor did not even seem to struggle as the roots finally gave up their grip on the earth. It is rare to find a tool that feels this reliable right out of the gate, and the waterproof rating gives me a lot of peace of mind for the next time we end up hub deep in Georgia red clay. This is a serious piece of recovery gear that does exactly what it promises to do without any unnecessary fluff. ... show more

  • Fantastic overall quality and build - Perfect for our Jeep
What a beast - This is my first winch for a Jeep and so far I've been very impressed with the overall quality of the unit. The one thing that for me as a new winch owner, I wish the instructions were designed more for newbies such as myself - there's a fair amount of questions I've got based on my reading, so that would be one thing I would have preferred seeing. I will need to upgrade the support on the Jeep - this will require a new cage up front to support this beast, but I knew that going in. I'm happy with the unit and will be looking forward to getting this setup completed. A good solid winch that has plenty of power for my needs. I'll update the review if needed but a great cost for a beast of a inch like this. ... show more

  • Heavy and solid, everything you need.
Box came a little beat up, as it is a heavy item. But the winch itself was unharmed for the most part. Some scratches, but nothing big. I am planning to bolt this onto a hitch bracket so I can easily add / remove it from multiple vehicles. I did run a test, and it worked well, the free spool was a little tight at first, but that was more from factory winding I believe as it worked fine after the initial unwind. Nice features and seems solid. I got a relay for it as well, will add that when I connect full time. Nice winch, runs well, Heavy and seems quite solid. Has forward and reverse powered spooling and comes with a nice hook as well as synthetic line, much easier than steel line, but comes with the downside of durability. ... show more
